Morning gang, thank you so much for your kind words :) I am literally counting down the days now until we can move!

If anyone is interested, we are having a giveaway for one of my Countdown to Christmas plaques on my facebook page. I don't think I am allowed to post the link here, but if you message me (or mention you would like me to message you!) I can send you the link :)

Good luck to all those hard working OU students!

wow loads of OU students. I'm convinced the reason my girls have slightly too many presents that are already wrapped and I'm so organised is trying to avoid this TMA!

Ordered DDs final present and DSD's penultimate one. Worried about getting the twitch

MoneyMission that's so annoying about the wallpaper but maybe it was fate and you're going to change your mind? (I know a question mark doesn't really belong at the end of that sentence and normally it would really annoy me but if I was face to face with you I'd have raised my eyebrows in a questioning way so that's why I did it if you see what I mean :D). I keep all my pressies on a spreadsheet too and I keep them for a few years so I can track back this year and see what I got for people for the past four or five years - my memory isn't good so it stops me buying the same thing for people year after year lol.

Yes Peppa I know what you mean, I do the same thing with question marks sometimes :) And you're right that it was fate because even before I realised they had been returned I was starting to have second thoughts about it but told myself that once it arrived I would be happy with my choice, so maybe fate has taken the choice out of my hands. I've now got to sort a decorator so that when my new choice does arrive I can just get it started, rather than it sitting around gathering dust.

I ordered a few Christmas decorations yesterday. They are 2 hanging baskets for outside. I have the artificial ones on my front porch because I am absolutely useless at keeping plants, I have managed to kill every plant I've ever had, whether its an indoor or outdoor plant. So at the moment we just have normal, non Christmassy artificial hanging baskets outside. But now I've ordered some that are much prettier and have fairy lights in them. I also ordered some fairy lights for inside, but they're the sort of fairy lights that don't look strictly Christmassy so can be used all year :j

I am in work today, pretty quiet because I managed to get lots done last week (hence why I am on here) and absolutely starving so keep watching the clock which is obviously making the morning go slower than it usually does.

Feisty - I had a nose at your blog yesterday and at the photos of the house that you took when you completed and were in the midst of cleaning it. I hope to see some photos of it soon after all the work you've done to it.

I also ordered a few things from Gap on the weekend. They had a discount code on the site & I always buy a few comfy pyjamas from them for both daughters so thought I would get them now while the discount was working. The good thing was the code worked for items already on sale too so I ended up saving loads of money. There was a nightdress I picked up for my youngest daughter, original sale price was £16.99 and I got it for £1.69 because it was on sale and then I had 30% off again :j

I'm still waiting for a few items to arrive and I have some stuff to collect from the post office too. I also had a card left through my door saying that something has been left with one of my neighbours, so I'll have to call over to their house this evening as it has been with them since last week because we went away for a long weekend on Thursday night so I've not had chance to call over there yet. I love getting my parcels in the post because I forget what I've bought half the time. Saying that, I need to try & keep track a bit more because I've ordered so much stuff recently I could have quite easily not received something and not even realised. I actually checked all my emails last night for any orders I've made to double check and luckily so far nothing is amiss, so I'll try and keep track a bit better now.

kaya - Thanks for the heads up on the festive M & S drinks, they sound great.
DomRavioli - Sorry to hear about your health issues. Glad your offer was accepted on your house. Might be manic but will be lovely to be in a new house for Christmas.
Free - Well done on the cleaning. You are so organised and disciplined while I'm surrounded by chaos in this house. Sorry to hear that you are poorly again (hope the weekend went well).
Also thanks for looking out for the whisky.
Welcome Mrs Honey Badger - great name.

Getting further behind on this thread and keep having to put aside a far amount of time to catch up - sorry if I've missed anything vital.

Kind of worked out a plan for Christmas day now - wake up and open some presents, go to cemetery to lay a wreath on grandparents grave, dinner out at a local restaurant with sisters, dad and OH, drinks and games at OH's parents.

Off to a Christmas market soon so might hold off on buying more items until then.

    Good morning :xmastree:

Not sure why, but I can't seem to use smilies in my text? Edit drag and drop seems to work :rotfl::rotfl:

Anyhoo, trying to get organised for Christmas this year, so far have managed:

    Christmas Cards bought from Whistlefish
    Christmas Bags bought from QVC
Jamie Oliver's Get Ahead Gravy made and in the freezer
Christmas Cake made and maturing in the cupboard
A few bits and bobs added to the shopping from the last couple of weeks; goose fat, cranberry sauce, 2 x bottles prosecco and a chocolate orange (currently £1 in Asda)
Waitrose Christmas Grocery Slot booked for 23rd Dec

Still a way to go, and I have DD and DH's birthdays to come first....
Squares knitted for my throw ~ 90 (yes!!! I have finally finished it :rotfl: )
Squares made for my patchwork quilt ~ 80 (only the "actual" quilting to do now :rotfl:)

Could you give a link to these please. I too have 2 hanging baskets of non-Christmassy artificial plants outside my front door, but quite like the idea of substituting them for Christmassy ones over December :D

  • Hi all! I am now posting from our shiny new laptop. :D Although you'll never guess what - DH managed to get a virus on it within 24 hours of having it so we had to take it to someone to get it completely wiped! Honestly, us and technology have not been friends in the last couple of months! We're all on track now though and have a cloud storage system as well as our external hard drive. A friend of mine also said her dad works in IT and is good at recovering data from hard drives so she's going to ask him to look at ours to see if he can get the photos that PC World didn't recover. I've now heard that PC World aren't that good!

Anyway i'm quite behind now on this thread and haven't got much time to catch up so i'm starting from here and might try to catch up if I can. Hugs and best wishes to everyone that needs them. x

I had a day to myself on Saturday so got my hair done then went Christmas shopping - I think I bought all the chocolate in Reading! Well it felt like it, I went to B&M, Home Bargains, Morrisons and Matalan. DH is almost obsessed with Cadbury's chocolate and a few years ago I made him a Cadbury's hamper and he loved it so i'm going to make another one this year, I picked up loads at the weekend. I also picked up bits for food hampers. I've seen a big Bourbon biscuit tin with biscuits in Waitrose that would be perfect for my dad as it's his favourite biscuit, it's £10 which I don't mind paying but I don't know if Waitrose ever have offers on these like M&S do with their biscuits? I want to get it so I can tick it off the list but I don't know whether to hold out in case they go on offer. I usually do that then miss out!

Anyway sorry for the long post, i'm off to update my Christmas spreadsheet now i've got access to it again! :T
  • WARNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just had an email from Nectar saying they had detected unusual activity on my account. Called them and discovered that some thieving toe rag had virtually cleared my points, just shy of £200. Used in/on Argos

Anyway, they have cancelled my card, sending me a new one re-instating the points I had, plus another 2,000 for inconvenience. Can't fault them for their service. Better see what I need to buy, last thing I used it for was a new microwave!

Anyway, as we are in the run in now, please be wary of your card and use any points. I have no idea how they got my details as let's face it, we never have to enter the number for anything, unless it was from a petrol station.
A smile costs little but creates much :)

Hello All, i'm flying in to say thank you for the wishes for my wedding day, it was truly beautiful and we loved every minute! Our video has come back and we have watched it loads, just waiting for the photo's at the moment and cannot wait to see them.
Christmas present buying is finally under way, i'm about a 1/4 through now but have a good idea what we are getting for everyone so i'm not too stressed....next year I will be starting nice and early as normal though!!! Some Christmas cards brought but do need a few more and some more special ones.
I haven't read back anywhere as I am still so busy at the moment so just haven't had the time to get on here properly.
I hope you are all well and Christmas cheer is spreading through in the bucket loads!

    Big hugs all round
