  • Hello!!

Ive been lurking this board for a few weeks now and thought id finally say HELLO!

I have my wrapping paper sorted from last year. No cards this time, unfortunately!
I do however have 2 gifts that I forgot about until I found them in my xmas stash box - 2 hand car gift sets, with cream, wash and soap. They will be for my mums friends who I have known all my life and always get me a little gift (ones 72 and the others 65) hopefully they'll like it.

  • Ha... I mean hand CARE!!! I don't think they be impressed with a car care kit,!

  • Fever to tell I'm so sorry your son is bad, wishing him a speedy recovery!

dd2 is easy this year.. shall just put an order in for her amazon wish list lol

dd4 i can't wait to go shop for... we are leaving it till december unless a bargain comes up or she actually requests one of the top xmas toys.

    Wow, your reindeer is fab!
Evening everyone, i popped to Hobbycraft today to get some more christmas bits for my projects :p:p oh blimey i had to stop myself from wandering willy nilly and only buy what was on my list, still couldnt find a miniature christmas tree and santa though so might have to google now and see whats on the internet! So a nice crafty weekend is planned......

VULPIX ooh good shout about the cling on vinyls :D

PRINCESSKITTY yep i was a lurker the year of Let It Snow loved it so much had so many ideas for christmas that i joined MSE that christmas in fact i think it was Boxing Day!! And you have all had to put up with me ever since :rotfl::rotfl:it really is my daily tonic

FEISTY i wouldnt be able to afford hypnotherapy my lovely, i was just as bad this morning as i had a new hairdresser coming round!!! :rotfl::rotfl:

SPENDLESS ooh those tins sound really unusual, i havent been to B&M for ages, i must rectify that :D

BBROSIE ooh sounds like someone got some bargains today!!

CHERRY oh that is a good idea!! they would be great for the centre. Guess where i am off to browse :D

There are lots of free self help meditation videos on YouTube :)

Not much going on here, feeling rather over whelmed with everything. I've made a list of essential house purchases and it is very expensive and huge. It's getting me a bit stressed as it seems the bright yellow we've chosen for the nursery is proving hard to match to curtains unless we spend a huge amount.

The range had their Christmas bits out upstairs, but I was in too much of a funk to browse :(

I can't remember who mentioned it but I did a Santa plate at a paint your own pottery place last year, it cost £10. It is pricey, but I'm happy with my original plate and hopefully it'll be in the family for years!

Ive suggest to OH that we go to one of those pottery shops as part of our date day coming up to christmas (every saturday for us is date night, no one else no laptops or phones - unless of course when shes back in England then we have date night over the phone lol) and painting eachother a mug to use during christmas time - shes all up for it but Im now thinking a bad idea as shes a pro tattoo artist and incredibly talented with art and I can barely draw stickmen lmao!

WEECLICK i did an American sweet, food, drinks hamper for DD2s OH last year he loved it!! I generally picked up bits and pieces from quite a few shops like Asda, Poundland, B&M and also my favourite garden centre has an american foods section. Good luck with your viewing this afternoon, hope you come on with good news tonight!!

I have AMAZING news, after a bit of waiting after viewing we were offered the apartment. Not only that but its been offered to us at £25 less than what was advertised monthly! The landlady and her husband are lovely and had their two kids with them. Shes also giving me the keys next Sunday and not wanting the first rent and deposit until 1st of the month!! So Virgin is being installed next Sunday and OH moving over as planned on the 15th.

Ive agreed not to move in properly myself until the 15th also - although Ill move my stuff in I will continue to sleep at my parents as other than the sofa and bed the apartment is empty and we have planned to shop together so cant really stay there with no towels or pillows lmao!

Weve managed to save an extra £500 on top of deposit and rent so we have a big weekend ahead of buying the home essentials and stocking up the cupboards and fridge! VERY excited.....and of course first thing I did on viewing was point out where Id have my christmas tree :rotfl:

Hope everyone else has had a good weekend - Im away to read back and try and catch up now :D
Life is what you make it.

Hope everyone else has had a good day. I've agreed to do mums diet with her and my boyfriend is sending me pictures of an amazing chocolate cake his mum has made, she makes the best puddings ever... GGRR!

  • Hello all. I have bought some xmassy tubs and cellophane bags and plan to do pots of gold as extra pressies for people. Just wondering if anyone else makes them and what they plan on putting in them this year? So far I'm thinking a scratch card, some of the lindor bears and maybe some worthers toffees and gold coins. :)

I'm also thinking of doing an American hamper for DH after reading other peoples ideas on here. He starts back at uni tomorrow and his finance has come through so once he's found out what course materials he needs to buy there will hopefully be a little spare so I can make a dent in the huge list of family members we need to buy for! DH is one of eight and I'm one of four, we have eight nieces and nephews between us plus our two, four of his siblings and one of mine are still children. We try to buy token gifts for the adults as there's been at least one new baby at Xmas every year for 9 years and family will only continue to grow.

The latest addition was my sister's first, my gorgeous nephew who is 5 and a half months. She's on her own and had to go back to work pretty quickly after he was born, I work full time so can't help much but I have him every other weekend (my Mum does the alternate weekends) and he's so good. Just started weaning which is a lot of fun, I forgot how messy it can be! I end up with pureed food everywhere! Ha ha.
    Savings Account - £0.00 :(

    Weight Loss - 33lbs lost 9lbs to go :)
  • I saw a mini hamper of American sweets in Wilko today for £5.

And Tesco also sell bits and bobs from the US in their world foods aisle.

Welcome to the thread TreasureQueen. If you've got a home bargains near you they've had some lovely gardening stuff in at really good prices over the summer so may be selling the remainder off now. I've looked a few times and wished I had someone to do a gardening hamper for because the stuff has been so appealing lol. Also, the 99p shop had some decent looking bits if you've got one of those anywhere near.

    Welcome to you too QueenLizard!

Wow Pookle, £200 is a fabulous surprise find. Hope you manage to do the big pile of pressies - your children sound lovely.

Huge congratulations on the apartment Weeclick - hope you'll both be very happy there.

I've had a lovely day today - didn't even get out of my pyjamas lol. I haven't been lazing about though, I've re-painted the walls in the lounge and taken the curtains down for a wash (side curtains, I don't have nets). On to the dining room next week (it's the back half of the lounge if you see what I mean) and the stair carpet goes down on Wednesday so I really feel like we're getting somewhere now. The lounge/dining room has been getting on my nerves for ages, I just hadn't got them quite right and now I'm going back to where I started which is all cream with the colour coming from accessories. I do like wallpaper but I get fed up very easily and it's so much easier just to put another coat of emulsion on when I get the urge to shake things up :D The new quilt cover arrived yesterday too so that's washed and ready to go on - Autumn is definitely coming so I need the house to be cosy and ready to be Christmassy.
It's the most wonderful timeof the year :

I've finally started my shopping. I have 8 nieces and nephews, but only buy for 6 of them (the other 2 are in their 20s) and OH has cousins with 2 young children, so we've decided to buy something for them too since they're the only kids in his family. So we're on a bit of a budget as there's quite a few to buy for!

For one of my nieces (5) and the girl in his family (will be 3 by Christmas) we're making a Frozen themed baking hamper. I bought a big pink bowl (supposed to be a salad bowl, but works as a mixing bowl) and I'm going to fill it with the baking things. So far I've bought them each a Frozen cake making kit, some Frozen chocolate coins, Frozen chocolate pieces that are in the shape of little bags lipsticks dresses etc., Frozen chocolate lollies and a Frozen swirly straw with a character on it. The only other things I want to get are some Frozen sprinkles (seen them in various places), a plastic or wooden mixing spoon and potentially a little apron that I might personalise with fabric letters or a fabric pen with their names (I've seen some plain aprons on ebay for around £1).

The niece who's getting the baking hamper has a sister who will be about a month short of 2 and a half by Christmas. I'm sort of stuck on what to get her. I'm worried she'll feel left out by the older one getting all the baking stuff, but I'm not sure if she's a bit young to have a similar present :undecided
