love love the shops starting to get festive!! i finished off the elf costume for my bargain build a bear reindeer today.. the jumper is from ebay (a dogs jumper) and the hat i knitted myself. 12033028_10156236980290647_5658632937307913879_n.jpg?oh=79068565f159a32e50f3e3e4f192390b&oe=56AB28A5

That reindeer is epic! And yes I noticed shops starting to have christmas aisles today Im so excited!! Mum was a bit worried Id get down this christmas as my ex fiance left me on the 29th December so left a sour taste last yr but Im more excited this year than Ive ever been!! Although I would of been a bit alarmed if card f@ctory were playing xmas music lol
Was in Primarni at 9 this morning, picked up a pair of shoes, boots, some slippers & a jumper. They now are starting to get their Christmas stock in, looking good, got some cute jumpers for little girls.

Watched the rugby last night, hope it is not an indication of the tournament to come, but hey, we're playing at 2:30 today, that should through some life into it :rotfl:

I always worry about buying clothes as gifts for my niece and nephews incase I get the size wrong, I know their ages but niece is tall for her age and the two of them are tiny build, my youngest nephew is easy cos hes 1 and still got his baby pudge so I always just buy 18months + and if its too big I know he will grow into it and not care lol

Im a MASSIVE rugby fan - my poor family cant cope, I had to keep telling the kids to shhhhh lastnight (Im living at home with mum and dad but hopfully get good news about the apartment tomorrow!) Ive taken over the conservatory today for 9 hours of rugby and put a bet on my team (Ireland) to get to the final so fingers crossed but I have complete faith in them! :T
Well I've only made one (very important!) Christmas purchase this year - about a month ago I was in Clintons getting some bits for my friends hen do when I spotted a stuffed Santa toy and musical reindeer/penguin scene. My Nana who passed away last year was a massive fan of the musical toys; always had a good dozen scattered around her small flat so I bought that for £3.50 (reduced from £15) so she can still be around for Christmas. The Santa was £4 reduced from £16 I think. Every year for the past 6 or so years my mum and I have bought my Dad a stuffed christmas animal so that's his pre-Christmas christmas gift sorted!

I am planning to do some charity stuff this year though, which I left too late last year, it's just trying to find something to do. I'd like to do some shoebox appeals or something - any ideas?

Lovely sentiment for your nana! Shoebox is a great idea - have you thought about doing a christmas care pack for the armed forces? And someone last yr had suggested buying extra advent calendars and giving to the local food bank so kids dont miss out where parents arent in the position to buy such luxuries...

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome back, pleased to be back and in a much better, less depressed, frame of mind!

I started my first christmas purchase today. Ive been holding off until I know we have a home but the GF is adamant she is moving on the 16th October so 1. we need to get this apartment at the viewing tomorrow (private landlord and she seems keen as she pushed the viewing from next wednesday to sunday! - so guessing this is a good thing?! we refuse to get our hopes up this time though so we keep looking to everyone else for reassurance lol)

Anyway Ive decided to make my mrs an American hamper - shes obsessed with America in general and especially american sweets etc - So far Ive got few different pakcets of reeces and i have lucky charms on my list to get this week and pack away. My mum suggested getting her a gumball machine, I think its a fab idea but as it will end up on show in our new home I dont want a plastic thing so on the look out for a smallish silver or chrome looking one lol. Any input into the American hamper much appreciated!!

Still reading through old posts so I get lots of my thread fix, Currently up to March inbetween watching the rugby lol - hope everyone is having a good weekend so far!

Got to say, this is probably the strongest team we have had for a while,so would be fab if we get to final. However, the boys will do their best whatever the distance, just hope the game isn't as disjointed as last nights, lost interest in it:o
A smile costs little but creates much :)
  • Two more presents ticked off my list today and even better was the fiver knocked off each one in argos. Will be venturing to Smyths on Monday to see if anything grabs my attention but if not I will make a start on my nephews and nieces presents.

    Xmas Saver!
Good afternoon. I'm trying really hard not to AWOL again, but as you can see I'm struggling.
Roo is here and the house looks like a bomb has gone off. Going to visit our second Uni next week, this time at Greenwich. It has the exact course she wants so hopefully she likes it.
Have finished setting up my Xmas section in my FF. :)
On the subject of !!!!!! I bought myself an early Xmas present from America last week. A new limited addition Gold personal Saffiano. It should be here next month. Which was a bit naughty of me as I've only had my current Saffiano for 2 weeks ! But DD can have it for Uni so I don't feel so bad ! :rotfl:
Am hoping to get into the West End after we visit the Uni and cross a few more things off my list, although there isn't a lot left to get now.
Hope everyone is having a nice weekend xx

I've registered to donate to the Samaritans shoe box appeal and my daughters Beavers group does one every year too, so I'll be doing 2 this year. I really try to put a lot of thought in to the shoe boxes because it breaks my heart to think of the children who have so little. Putting the shoe boxes together really makes me remember how lucky we are : )

Argos 3 for 2 starts next week & we already have a list of stuff we're getting. I'll put a reservation in to our local store ASAP so I know everything I want will be in stock.

I had my Matalan delivery arrive yesterday at my office. The box was absolutely HUGE!! I bought 3 of these boxes. I'm going to use one each for my daughters for Christmas Eve presents & use one as our family Christmas Eve box, with some fun things to do on Xmas eve. They are excellent quality too, I wasn't expecting them to be so good. They are quite solid and I think will last quite a few years.

Bet you're happy right now, cracking game eh?! I'm an England fan obviously ;) but you guys are going to be seriously hard to beat.

I like the idea of taking some advent calendars down to the food bank, I keep meaning to do a proper food bank donation but as I too live with my parents following a break up I don't get much chance to get to the food shops. I think I might have a look at the Armed Forces thing, my Dad's in the RAF and I know that it can make such a difference esp. at Christmas time!

MoneyMissions, I'll look into the Samaritans, exactly why I want a good scheme - I really enjoy buying for others and if I've only got four small presents to get then it gets a bit dull!

  • Hellllloooooo all, I'm back...I've been in hiding a bit and totally fell off the money saving horse so to speak. My little boy is very poorly and under Birmingham children's hospital, so I need something to take my mind off his illness and his forthcoming operations. So I'm back!!! Yay!!!!
I'm starting to get excited for Christmas. Ill catch up on this thread and look forward to getting to know you all x

Went into town today to do a few jobs, not much Christmas going on, I am getting really impatient! I always buy all my card and wrap from Wilkinsons, I see they’ve got “coming soon” on their website so I hope it’s not too long.

Just spent some time adding everything the kids want to Amazon Wishlists, I check these every day for price fluctuations!

Need to make a list and plan for Argos 3 for 2, that worked out well last year and got lots of Lego sets as I reserved the day before. Does anyone know what day it will be?

msgigglewick Love the elf costume on the reindeer!

kiss_me_now9 Let me know what you come up with re charity. They do the Operation Christmas Child thing at the kids school however I have done a lot of reading up on this organisation and I don’t agree with it’s methods (it’s a religious organisation) so I’d like something different.

weeclick Love the American hamper idea, I’m a big fan too. Good thinking on the gumball machine, if you’re going to have to look at it, might as well make it something nice!

fevertotell Sorry to hear about your little boy. Birmingham Children’s Hospital are excellent though so I am sure he is getting great care, I live near Solihull and my son had to go there for a couple of appointments.
  • So after a mini meltdown this morning about how unorganised imam for Christmas baby o and me went shopping so feeling more in control. My problem being that when I shop I see nothing but things for baby o (only 6 weeks old) and don't want to look for me or anyone else

However he has his first Christmas jumper, sleep suits and ordered am ek outfit so he is organised that way.

My MIL sent me pictures of the christmas displays in b&m so I think christmas is slowly hitting the shops.

I was in tescos earlier and they had reduced down different paddling pools so I picked one up which was originally £12 down to £1.50 so it is now put past for santa. However they had different pools in my local store so other shops might have reduced theirs as well.
  • Weeclick, I've just returned from a business trip to New York.

I brought back Hershey chocolate, Smores and strawberry licorice twists for my DS.

Asda sell Hershey chocolate, and you can buy licorice twists from many pound type shops.
