  • MrsMoneypenny, you are so brave! I don't think I could even manage half of that. Good Luck!

Free sending you big hugs my lovely. Please don't think I'm talking out of turn here, but have you ever considered hypnotherapy for your stranger/workman phobia. It seems to have such a huge impact on your life and it pains me xxx

Mando thank you for that :) It would actually just be for me lol. I was thinking of putting things in as reminders to things I wanted to do over the festive season; like the remainder of my Yankee christmas tea lights from last year, my gingerbread house cutters from lakeland (bought two years ago and still not used!) and things like that.

Kaya, wow to that MSE total, very inspiring :)

Vulpix, I hope the Op all goes well x

Cherry, I did wonder about how the Sprout could be made round. How about using something round as a core? Either a polystyrene blall, or if you can get a large plastic ball container (think kinder egg but round) then it could contain the *star* sprout prize too? How about finding some fab recipes for both that can be made in advance and frozen, it may be a bit of a tall order trying to whip both up on the day otherwise?

Weeclick, what an eventful year you've had! Great to see that the year seems to be ending on a high though - exciting times ahead!

Springdreams, loving those shower curtains! Unfortunately we don't need one either lol

Princess, I'd be lost too! I can't quite remember the year I joined in with the festive thread, but I know it was that the urged me to sign up :)

My DM, SD and DS came round yesterday to do some painting whilst I was at work. Sadly poor DH has now managed to over-do it (despite trying to take it easy, he's just so fragile!) and they did a great job! My master bedroom has now been painted Indigo blue on all 4 walls! People's faces are an absolute picture when they see the colour we had chosen. I kept getting comments of 'but just for one feature wall right?' We saw the same colour used in an Ikea settup and they had dark brown furniture with white bedding/floors and we both fell in love with the design. Yes it's super dark, but a bedroom is for being cosy and sleeping so we think it's perfect! My pantry project is now picking up steam, so hopefully this will be done in a few weeks. We are severely running out of money, so things are being done on the cheap.

Not long back from B&M and that seems to be the place that has the most Christmas stock out so far. :j Really excited about 2 of my purchases from there.

The first is a tin of Wagon Wheels. It has 10 individually wrapped wagon wheels in it. Nice red circular tin with pic of wagon and horses, says it's a limited edition, bb March 16. I have long thought they was a gap in the market re Xmas biscuits as you can't buy festive tins of the chocolate snack biscuits eg club or penguin. I recall starting a thread a couple of years ago asking if anyone had ever come across them. This is perfect for my Nan who is in a Nursing home, as she can keep it in her room and can have one if she fancies a nibble. That's her present 1/2 done. As there's now little you can get her, I will get some toiletries to go with it, but think I'll need to wait until the more traditional stores such as Marks and Spencers and Boots fetch their range out.

My other item is a tin also but this has the fish and chip crisps (snacks) it them, 6 x 40g bags. This is for my Niece who doesn't like chocolate or sweetsm so makes buying her a selection box of sorts out. Not helped because she's a twin and my Nephew is a chocolate fan, and I feel mean giving him confectionery with his presents and not her. I had bought the mini tic tacs in all flavours on the ferry last month with the idea of taking all the mint ones out; the only sweet she does like but now I'll just give my other Niece the tic tacs instead. Both tins were £3.99.

I've noticed Mason jars as cups are very popular at the minute. I saw for the first time in there that they do a ceramic one as part of a hot chocolate set. DD assures me that taking photos of your drink in a mason jar and posting it to Tumblr is trendy. I'll tke her word for it;) I'll need to discover if the drink contents need to be visible through the drinking vessel, before I decide wether to purchase or not.

I also saw a sign that sums up my DD. Can't remember precise wording but it was something like 'But before you do that, Take a Selfie' :D which is just what her (and her friends are like!) Refrained from buying it as thought I might be provoking a Christmas Day adolescent tantrum, but should I decide otherwise I saw one for DS that read 'Take a daily bath, you don't want people to recognise you by your stench' Hmmmm :think:I might have to introduce elves of a shelf too and they can produce the signs on the days the kids manage to wind me up by their t(w)eenage behaviour ;)
  • just had great fun at smyths 20% off. Had to hide it all from other though... whoops
    Swagbucks £190 since 25/02
    One poll £11.75/£40
    Qmee £1.89
  • Free - good call on extra T-rolls after my previous disaster. I am considering buying those clear baubles to put in the middle and will give it another go.
Feisty - I did consider a polystyrene ball because I do have one in my craft stash but think will try with the plastic baubles that you can put a prize in - a bit like the kinder eggs.
I think I might make a really nice veggie recipe in advance, do venison for him and let him try a bit of mine.
Glad all your house DIY is coming along nicely. Wish I had a pantry!

Don't know if this has been mentioned before but I typed Christmas into the search box at top of page on Marks and Spencer's website and a Christmas Shop page appeared with various categories and items.
  • Hi I managed to get a 3ds so from asda living in telford £99 last week. It is the old style pre Feb 2015 when changed button positions. Hope this helps reduced from £157
  • I popped into Boots at lunch today and saw two entire shelves at the front of the shop looking mysteriously empty... wonder what could be going there ;)

I was thinking the other day that I can't believe I've been on the different variations of this thread for 4 years and about to go into the 5th year! Does anyone remember the original 'Let it Snow' thread? That was in 2012! People have come and gone over the years but this thread has stayed just as strong and I hope it continues for years to come! This may sound a bit sad but I'd be a bit lost without my Christmas thread fix!

Yes I remember it well!! I spent most of my afternoons in work reading through the thread - it was my first proper savvy Christmas and made loads of sweet treats for the family hamper! Fun times!

Weeclick, what an eventful year you've had! Great to see that the year seems to be ending on a high though - exciting times ahead!

Thanks Feisty its defo been eventful and looking forward to getting (hopefully) good news on the apartment this weekend - it will be the first proper bit of good luck I will of had this year!

Me and the mrs have already started saving for "moving in" its fully furnished from what we can tell so will just need the odd personalised bits like duvets etc. Despite us both having previous long relationships and both previously being engaged (and her civil partnered) we are both pretty much starting from scratch again and its exciting. I only brought back clothes from England and although I have a few bits from my childhood in my grans attic theres nothing much else for me to bring. Shes the same, limited to what she can fit in her car which will be mainly her clothes, tattoo equipment (tattoo artist!) and her new York lamps which Ive told if she leaves behind she wont be getting into the new place haha!!

Ive already started looking at Christmas trees and Im lucky shes very much a big kid at Christmas like me! Shes promised me a train round the bottom of the tree and something I have wanted for YEARS!

Again, we cant really buy or plan anything until I meet with the potential new landlord. Our only good luck vibe though is that the landlady text after speaking to me on the phone and asked "based on our phone call" could we move the viewing date from next week to this Sunday! So we are both assuming this is a good thing, she wouldn't really rush to let me see the place if she didn't want us having it (or so we are telling ourselves!) We were let down with our last apartment last week when the current tenant decided he no longer wanted to move so we refuse to get excited now!

Anyway Im making a real effort to read back through the thread, its become my afternoon and nightly read - only on page 30 mind you lol! Just wanted to pop in and say hi and im back and looking forward to hearing what everyone has been up to :)
Life is what you make it.
