  • Hi everyone

Sooooo excited. Booked me, my sister, 2 dd's and Dgd in for breakfast with Santa at a garden centre for the weekend before Christmas. We've been for the last couple of years and I love it. Can't wait to see how Dgd reacts as she's only one. My dd's both used to cry at Santa so it should be fun. Wasn't sure if the eldest wanted to come as she's now in senior school but I asked her and she said of course she did and then told me she still wants at least 1 teddy bear for christmas.

Picked up the kids christmas pjs from matalan. I really like the quality of the stuff from there. Can't stop looking through their website now they've got there christmas stock in. Trying to resist as I want to go the shop and see it all in 'real life'.

Does anybody know when the boots christmas catalogue is released. I'm sure it's around this time of year. Hoping for the boots three for two soon as well. I'm predicting next week lol.

  • Quick question to all you lovelies, how much do you spend on your 1st December hamper? I'm quite intrigued to start one, but worrying it could get mighty expensive lol

I did mine very cheaply last year - most of it was cheapy edible things (50p chocs, those 4 for £1 hot choc sachets, the reindeer name Coke bottles) and eBay things, so I probably did the whole thing for less than £20 (including the hamper - got it in a sale in Whittards at Gunwharf Quays for about £7!) :)

Just had a lovely read and have now completely forgotten who said what. Now the thread is moving quickly again I'm gonna have to go back to replying in a word document and then just copy and paste when I'm done lol :D

Think I need to go to bed now so I'll just say welcome Bunty and start again tomorrow. Night night all.

Thanks Peppa. I need you guys to inspire me. I've lost my Christmas mojo. Anyone got any ideas for stocking fillers for teenaged boys? Girls I get, but I struggle with the boys.....

  • Evening everyone,

MANDCO aww thankyou, i didnt want to make a special trip in if they didnt have any so i will leave it a bit longer, nothing really exciting some Cheese Footballs, Mini Cheddars £3 each or 2 for £3, Jar of Pickle, and some Pigs In Blanket Crisps (but they were out of stock :o)

MRSMONEYPENNY haha that is funny i usually end up forgetting the peas in the microwave until after we have eaten!!!

CARLISLELASS that annoys me because you order them in your shop and they dont even last anywhere near christmas!!

P-PINCHER oh that sounds fun, i made the mistake of going for a quiet coffee with a friend once in our local wyevale, when Santa turned up with all these kids and had breakfast :rotfl::rotfl:If i remember correctly it is somewhere around my birthday the first week of october but im not 100% sure on that

BUNTY if you have some time scroll through the Christmas and Other Yuletide forum and there was a thread about stocking fillers for teenage boys it had some good ideas on it

Went to Matalan this evening, no Christmas stuff in my store yet. OH asked and they said they're getting a small delivery on Friday and a bigger delivery at the weekend so it should be all on display by next week.

Mince pies in co-op dated Oct 15

Thats good to know as I've been wanting one and I can't find any in Asda except bakewell ones which are not mincepies!! They had them out this time last year as my daughter was complaining it was too early for them :rotfl: We've usually gone through at least 2 boxes by now :o

I might have to get the ingredients together and make some this year. Its not like I don't know how as I've done it numerous years in the past. I need to buy some more little pie dishes first though so DD can take them in her lunch. Usually when I send her in with home baked goodies all her friends want some as well so she takes extra :rotfl:

Hi folks or should I say Santa's little elves.

Thanks for asking Free (and remembering) I phoned the surgeons secretary on Monday to be told my op is 5th October.YIKES! I will be out of action for 3 months afterwards,no driving, lifting and will tell Mr V no housework too.

I had arranged for us to have a family Christmas dinner on 7th but will still be in hospital. My son and gf are going to Canada on 14th for at least 2 years.I had got most of their pressies but now I need to finish everyone else too.

I went to nearest big town yesterday without a lot of luck.I want hand warmers for sons gf,seen some nice foxy ones on atalan website but they haven't got them in yet. They had some nice stuff in in wintery colours.Son and gf came from Yorkshire on the train and we met dd1 from work and we all went for a Christmas curry in Manchester last night.

The -ange were clearing shelves to put stuff out as were -ome bargains.-ound land were putting stock out.

i have sooooooo much to do,I can sit and wrap it all after the op.We have moved and are having work done on the house. It's an old house and of course simple jobs turn up bigger problems. They have promised that it will be finished next week so I can clean all the dust, wash the beds etc.

Am doing the Mothers a chocolate orange hamper with hand wash, candle, sweets, biscuits etc

dd1 is easy as we like the same things,a mix of vintage and new bits.DD2 is having a tv for her room and I am making a giant selection box with the tv box.Bought loadsa chocolate from the £1 shop and double sided tape.Mr V at the moments got a chocolate orange lol.need to get some sweets from the local sweet factory nearer the time to put in tins for dd2's cousins,I usually send their family some home made stuff but I have made no jam this year so will just send a tin of biscuits or something.I know that sounds odd.DD2 is my step daughter and her Mum died, the family is her Mum's sisters.

I enjoy hearing about all your Christmas plans.Vx

Yes, Here it is :). In a few weeks time I'll bump the thread, when more people than those who post on here realise they need to get organised.;):p

Re Xmas stock and Boots catalogues - what I've found is inbetween my Grandmother's birthday (14 Sept) and my husband's exactly 3 weeks later (5 October) is when most stuff is out. There's barely anything for my Nan and I struggle most years to think of something and then 3 weeks later there's all the gift sets to choose from for my husband.

    Hello!

Just joining in, I lurked a little on this thread last year but decided to get active this year.

I love Christmas and am just starting my planning. I always start this early but this year is the first year that I am working full-time in over 10 years. I'm all out of routine this year and forgotten birthdays and all sorts this year as I am just so busy  so hoping to get a good head start.

Top of the lists for my children this year are Nintendo 3DS's. Bless them, they've not asked for these - they've put things like bouncy balls and chocolate coins on their Santa list (they start early too :p) but I know they'd love these as they've only had second hand 2DS's now for a good few years.

Looking forward to getting to know you all :D
