  • Feisty - glad you're sounding a bit chirpier now. Sounds like it's helped that your Mum is coming to help, but I agree with the others that you shouldn't feel guilty. Enjoy browsing the Matalan site, they've got some lovely things on there. I can't wait for my order to arrive!

Princesskitty - have a great holiday, I've never been to the Peak District but my cousins visit often and have a great time.

Springdreams - I love both sets of bedding! But the Santa one is pretty cute. Maybe you could have Santa this year & then swap next year? :)

Freespirit - I have spent some vouchers throughout the year but not a lot really. I think I'm a little bit obsessed with making that total go up & up, I'll be gutted when the amount goes right down now in the next few months, but I know because it's for Christmas it will all be worth it :rotfl:
  • Thanks for all the advice about Kos holiday it's very much appreciated.

Love the white ceramic polar bears and penguins in Matalan can imagine them on a snowy (faux of course) runner on console table for a Christmassy scene. Also love the idea of a 1st of Dec hamper will def be doing one of these xx

  • I could do with a bit of advice. I love getting my mum something extra special for Christmas but i'm running out of ideas!

She owns nearly every cookbook under the sun, she is allergic to perfume, doesn't care for chocolate or sweets and likes the jewellery she currently wears (earrings and a necklace we got her for her 60th)

I took her to a spa one year but I want something new to give her. Any suggestions?

Charlotte -If she loves musicals, some dvds of them? Afternoon tea out? If she likes cooking a cookery course where you learn 'specialised' cookery, eg I've seen some for Indian cookery before.

Love the Christmas bedding and the idea of Dec 1st hamper, but, but I introduced Xmas Eve hamper a few years ago after reading about it on here and though DS outgrew a year or two later DD never has and each year I'm thinking up more things as now she's older we either have the items already or we don't need items for her to entertain herself on Christmas Eve so we can crack on with preparations. Introduce a Dec 1st one and I'm sure she'll still be persuading me to do one when she's 32. :rotfl:

think a book is a good idea to put in it though. We were gifted this one when DD was 4. It's about a little girl not understanding about Christmas and the various things that you prepare for the day.

Every year since getting it, we have done some of the things in it, or our own interpretation of what they do.

At the weekend I stumbled on an American sweet shop in our town and bought some sweets that are in the display of a sushi box. This though I paid a fiver.

They also had American cereal but that was £5 per box and as DH goes to the states with work at end of this week, I've asked him if he can pick some up there instead.

I also got Mum the Into The Woods dvd and another dvd for ds for £2.99 at hmv.

With the make-up I bought on the ferry, Mums present is done, as is s-i-l and neice and I have bits for ds and dd. Really pleased. Am just waiting for Christmas stock to hit the shelves in shops now for the harder to buy relatives that I need inspiration for.

Can I introduce her to my mum, complains that she has everything she wants and I haven't a clue what to get:rotfl:
A smile costs little but creates much :)
  • Does anyone know if Matalan actually have their Christmas stock in store yet?

  • I would just like to say that despite what everyone at my work is currently saying ("you can't mention Christmas in September" etc etc), since the title of this board has turned into Christmas and Other Yuletide Festivals (and not just generic Special Occasions) that they'll just have to suck it up as the holidays are coming...
