things got a bit manic and it seemed I never had enough time to catch up! Then on Wednesday I woke up in a lot of pain and to cut a long story short the midwife said I'd been over-doing things and had to rest. I've been in bed since 10.30am Wednesday and boy has it been tough! Jr basically went from me just looking slightly bloated at 20 weeks and no-one guessing I was pregnant, to a full on 5 month bump in a matter of days. I'm quite petite and my poor body couldn't cope with the strain in such a short amount of time. Plus I had been decorating the house too.
Annoyingly I am now not allowed to do any decorating and I'm trying not to panic about how much there is to do with DH out of action due to ill health and now me.
Plus we've had a set back where housing association (it's shared ownership) are making us jump through lots of hoops before we can replace the kitchen and bathroom (I may have already done the cloakroom without them knowing) and both have already been paid for by the lovely in laws  I know people will say we were foolish for paying before we had permission, but when I phoned up early August we were told the process was really straight forward and was a matter of just completing a form for permission, now we need to pay for independent asbestos studies etc, so it seems they've either changed the guidelines or we were misinformed
Good luck with everything, but especially the IVF. We had one round in May and are blessed with being 5 months along nowIf you need any advice or just want to talk things over, I'm only a message away!
Junior so lovely to 'see' you! I am sorry you're having so many problems though my lovely - gentle hugs for you xxx
newthrift have an amazing wedding today!
On the Christmas front DH managed to get us £100 love to shop vouchers when changing electricity providers at the new house, so fingers crossed this will be a big bulk of our presents sorted :T
Currently browsing ebay for christmas chocolate moulds and dreaming of my new kitchen that come hell or high water will be going in and finished before Christmas!
I must have missed your announcement Fiesty. Huge congratulations I'm so happy for you both. Xx:j:santa2::xmastree::santa2:0 -
I would just like to say that despite what everyone at my work is currently saying ("you can't mention Christmas in September" etc etc), since the title of this board has turned into Christmas and Other Yuletide Festivals (and not just generic Special Occasions) that they'll just have to suck it up as the holidays are coming...

I always get excited when the forum name changes, it's a sign we can all start to talk about Christmas aloud without apologising first lol.
DD wants a bike this year, she is long overdue one. But I have been tempted by 2nd hand ones. I've seen loads on a local fb selling site that look like new and around £30 instead of £80-£100. But something in me is feeling bad for buying 2nd hand at Christmas. But I'd then be able to get her some other nice gifts. I know she would get good use of a bike as she is always out on her currently too wee one. Wish I had jsut got her one for her birthday in August so she would have got use out of it in the nice weather.
The usual dilemma has came up on where we are having Christmas dinner. We have had it here the last few years, and I thought it was here again. But now there is talk of going out for dinner. we have the biggest family, so costs us the most :-( . We did it 3 years ago after my mum died, we couldn't face Christmas in the house without her, it was really nice, and nice not to wash up. But I felt the kids had to sit down and behave instead of relaxing with their Christmas gifts.
No one else has the space to hold it except my Dad. So we will wait and see what happens.:santa2::xmastree::santa2:0 -
Hi all,
Cleared out my craft stash so I can fit some presents in my clear plastic storage boxes. I remember one year I used the entire spare room for presents and basically had a 'Christmas room'. That must have been before I acquired loads of 'stuff'. That room is now the tumble dryer / laundry / junk room.
princesskitty - I live on the edge of the Peak District. Hope you're having a lovely time despite the awful weather we seem to have had the last few days.
Hi Kaya - I did end up ordering an extra book just in case so might just keep it for myself! I'm sure people of all ages will enjoy it. When I pre-ordered it there wasn't even an age range on there anyway
Starlet - No problem, glad it's helpful
Free - glad you're feeling better. Well done on finishing DS's prezzies - v organisedSounds like you're well on your way with the others too.
Nic - I have the 'where we are having Christmas' dilemma every year. My parents are divorced so that's 2 options then there's my siblings and oH's family too.
For a long time, we spent the day together - just the two of us but the previous 2 years we stayed with OH's family. I think we may do just the 2 of us again and visit people on other days. We find it so much easier, we can relax, do things at our own pace, wear our Pj stretchy trousers during dinnerand have a nap when we like.
It is difficult and I can see why the meal out option has its downsides and upsides especially with the kids.0 -
I bought another Christmas present today! We went to Bakewell (lovely) and there was a little craft shop that sold flannels that could be personalised. We always use a flannel when bathing Wiggle so we got one with a train and his name embroidered on it for his stocking. Not the most exciting present but I'd rather get something useful while he's still clueless about Christmas!
freespirit wow I can't believe you're nearly done! That's fantastic, well done!
nic I personally think it's ok to buy secondhand for Christmas. If you think it's something she'll like and enjoy then I don't see the problem. We're buying a secondhand trike for Wiggle from some friends of ours.
Thanks all for your holiday wishes, we are having a lovely time (despite Wiggle still waking us up multiple times a night!) and the Peak District is beautiful. Cherry we've not found the weather too bad, I think it's because the forecast looked awful before we came so even the grey days with no rain are surpassing our expectations!0 -
just a quick one
primark had a small selection of mens & kids xmas jumpers in today
& asda had some 1/2 price gift setsthis year do something that scares you for courage is not the absence of fear just the knowledge that some things are worth the risk0 -

I'm delurking here. I LOVE this thread but I HATE (and that's a strong word) when the board name changes. It's the Yuletide bit. It's like birthdays and other special occasions stop happening. Why can't it be Christmas and other special occasions? I just have this irrational loathing of the board name as it stops acknowledging that you can post here for other celebrations (IMO).:mad::mad:
I actually feel better for getting that off my chest (and please don't think I wish to offend lazysheep)!!!
Hello all! I'm Bunty and it's been a bad day:(:(

I just like the fact that Christmas comes into the name again, to be honest I don't have much of an opinion on the Yuletide part so no worries.0 -
