Hello all
Well despite saying I refuse to get weighed, I did get on the scales last night. It wasn't pretty. But now I know where I'm starting from!
Being the anorak I am, I have put together a spreadsheet for me to fill in every week with (hopefully) weight loss, it calculates how far I am from my end goal, etc. I've set myself a target of 5% off by Easter, which is a bit ambitious, but I'm going to give it a go...
I'm on a week trial at the local gym and am probably going to sign up for 3 months (minimum sign up time). I have, :money:-style, made another spreadsheet logging the number of times I've been to the gym/pool, showing how much it would cost if I did pay-as-you-go, so I will feel as if I'm saving pounds (while hopefully losing pounds too!).
So far, I've been to the gym and pool on Tuesday, then pilates yesterday. Today is a rest day (OH is out) then normally I plan to go to the gym/pool on Friday evening/Sunday - although I'm away this weekend so hopefully won't lose the momentum
Otherwise, I've been using up some of my body lotion so I've smelled great! I've had a fab couple of lush baths and face masks. I've been inspired by someone else to pack some of my favourite toiletries in my gym bag so I feel like I'm treating myself after each workout...
I've also cooked from scratch most nights this week, so (with a couple of exceptions) I'm sticking to healthy-ish eating.
Wishing you all a fab friday!0 -
Hi ladies!
Happy birthday Beluga - I hope you had a wonderful day, and happy belated anniversary to AlecI also need to have a sort through tights. [...] Any recommendations on brands? What do others wear?
I have to confess that I often buy cheap and cheerful tights but like you I prefer opaque and really quite thick to keep my legs warm.I like to get maroon/navy/brown etc and then pair with a black or navy skirt as I think the contrast looks nice. I do wear sheer tights if I was wearing a skirt to work though as it just feels more professional.
I can't remember this morning too well as it was a long time ago but I definitely managed my four fabbing aims and also got a swim in on the way to work. I will need to buy some new work trousers because of the three pairs I have, one is currently broken (zip, fixable, and needs rehemming) but the other two can't be worn with heels. And I do feel smarter even with a low heel.
Tomorrow we have a corporate event and have to wear a smart top during the day at least. I have pulled out a red shirt I've never worn, to go with a black camisole (even though it's from Pepperberry my boobs are too big so I'll have to wear the shirt open at the bust), dark jeans and my black suede wedge boots. For the evening I'm just going to change my top - keep the camisole on and I have a green cowl neck which is lovely if rather inclined to show cleavage. As it's a work do and OH is not present I shall preserve my modesty. :rotfl:
I'm going to wear the gold hoop earrings OH bought me for Christmas, not sure which necklace yet, probably my locket as the chain is longer.
Off to pack as I'll have to leave home just after 6 to make sure I get there in time.0 -
LL - Pleased to see the Paleo is going well, I have downloaded a free book on my kindle to have a look, see if I can incorporate it in some way to our eating. Fantastic and inspiring read about your friend!!! Just goes to show there is nothihng ''special'' to be done, just looking after yourself!
I have the anti-glare on my glasses (which I need for driving and watching telly) and when you get those bright led headlights I agree they are BRIGHT!! Even my OH comments and he doesn't have glasses on :rotfl:
CW - that's fab you are keeping a good check and that it is part of your routine.
DD - That's the attitude I am trying to adapt!! I'll be 24 on Sunday and i'm a size 12/14 and need to just lose the extra wobble I have and tidy my diet up more!!
General fabbing today but no make-up as was in the office. The friend I run with came up today with the boxing gloves and pads we brought between us and we did a routine - my legs/groin/stomach/arms acchee (already goodness knows how I will be tomorrow:eek:) glad it's working though - groin due to lots of squats and still recovering from running and x-bikes :rotfl:
You lot really do give me the motivation to keep fabbing on the outside and healing from the inside :T
Time for sleep xChristmas is the most magical time of the year :santa2:

Good evening ladies
I had a difficult and emptional day today. My sister and I made a start on mum and dads cottage. Poor little sis was in pieces and I had to "shore her up" and keep her going.
Tonight I felt wiped out so have been just quietly resting.
I think I shall celebrate Fab Friday by getting dressed up to the nines and having a gentle mooch around the shops and a coffee somewhere nice.0 -
Had a night out with the girls tonight to the cinema - honestly can't remember the last time I went. Anycase, phoned a friend to check on times beforehand, and feel the need to relay this conversation to you
Friend "just putting my make up one and i'll be with you in five"
Me "why you putting make up on, we'll be sitting in a dark room"
Friend "oh i'm just a creature of habit"
so guess what, I went up stairs and put some mascara and lippy on ti sit in a dark room, and it felt good hahaLoving life to the full, just need purse full too

Husband came home for lunch and he was telling me a story about one of the cows and the vet, my memory kicked in and i have finally rang the surgery and got myself booked in for my blood tests.
I'm glad you've made the appointment but don't you think it would be better with a GP than a vet???;):rotfl:
rubies, I'm with your friend. I think the make up is for you, to make you feel better about yourself. It really doesn't matter if it's dark and nobody sees you (although compliments are always welcome). Glad you made the effort and it worked!:)0 -
Happy Fab Friday ladies!
It's a normal work day for me in the Chief Execs office...so dark grey shift dress, black polo neck, opaques & black leather knee boots. I'll chuck on a chunky necklace and my hair will be squeaky clean & shiny, usual makeup and a spritz of Miss Dior and I'm ready for the day
LL, I hope you feel stronger after a recovery day. I remember how difficult it was clearing my mums home in 2005, although we had a time limit a and had to get it done within 4 weeks the emotion came after when sitting with my 3 brothers going through the paperwork. It's very hard being the strong one when inside you are aching too but you are doing the right thing, resting emotionally and then straight back in the land of the living and enjoying a gander around the shops.
All the lovely smells, sights, colours and sounds cheer me up... even if I am not buying anything. And my treat... is also a nice coffee (latte usually but have been known to dive on a cappuccino) and as I sip, I watch the rest of the world bustle by.
I hope you're feeling brighter and back to your usual happy self. x
Paleo is still going well, I have lost another 2lbs so that is 7lbs in Jan so far. I am very pleased as I don't feel hungry at all and I have a lot more energy. I have done a lot of walking and gardening also so I think that has added to the generally weight loss too.
Fabbing... I have been tackling my heels. I generally ignore them in Autumn and Winter as they get covered up ... so they were feeling a tad rough. I have been exfoliating and moisturising them for the last week on a nightly basis and I can say they are now responding and looking smoother and feeling softer.
I hope you all have a lovely Friday... xx0 -
just skimmed through quickly - my how well eveyone is doing.
Not just with keeping up the fabbing but also improving their health through diet & exercise :T:T:T
Fast day yesterday & yoga session in the evening but also did my shopping run as I pass 3 s/markets so grab the bargains & offers where I can - I am trying to be MS!
Reporting in today to say I've lost 2lb.so I'm pleased about that although it will probably go up a bit & when I've done my 2 fast days next week I am only expecting to lose 1lb.
Off to make DH a cuppa & then do my fabby bits before facing the rest of the day.
Have a lovely fabby day everyoneSmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
Good morning Fabbers
LL I hope that you manage to have a relaxing and "re-charging" day, it is really hard to walk in and sort through someones lifetime, but I hope that you and your sister will find things that kick off those lovely family reminisces too, a photo from a holiday or day out, information about grand parents etc.
I had a good session with PT yesterday, even though still weak and chesty, he very kindly helped me to work out an ultra healthy eating plan to try and help my body heal itself, or at least not deteriorate further while I await appointments, I suppose it would be very much a Paleo type diet, but I have to include lots of gluten somehow while I wait for more Coeliac tests:eek:
Market day today, so must get up and out, need to buy some shampoo for my newly highlighted hair too (two shades of blue and one of hot pink - looks much better than it sounds)The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)0
