Morning all and thanks for the welcome, hope you're feeling better, maman. Love the sound of "cadburys " nail polish and am happy to have a reason to avoid the creme eggs this year!
Have just waved off DH and eldest on the drive to take eldest back to Uni:(
Youngest still in bed, so am about to have a bath, put some jeans and a jumper on, rather than my scruffy joggers, plus make up and perfume (must find one that doesn't wear off after half an hour though!), just to walk the dog!
Don't intend doing much else today other than a couple of wash loads and putting grocery delivery away, but at least I won't feel so slobby.0 -
So glad you are feeling stronger LL & that you've managed to get something organised for your Mum & Dad's cottage - maybe a Konmarie moment to thank items for the service they've given to your Mum & Dad?
Only fabbing today will be perfume & LOADS of moisuriser as I'll be helping DH to scrape the bottom of the boat ready for anti-foul when the weather warms up. It'll be very cold & windy down there so I'll look like an eskimo with a red nose to match!!
When we get home I'll smarten up then if I've the energy - I'll probably just collapse in a heap!
Have a fabby day everyoneSmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
I used to wear my nails really long until manicurist asked if wanted them cut shorter and straight across the top for a change. It's a good look, especially with dark polish. Mine are a really dark plum colour at the moment and I love it. Makes the skin on my hands look better too, much paler.
Glad you've had a good day beluga. My fingernails are now Cadburys purple shellac and I absolutely love it!rubiesr4eva wrote: »My nails, considering I do manual work, just don't break, must be all the milk I drink (skimmed), at the moment they are clear shellac with sparkly glitter tips, very girly, however DD has booked me in for tomorrow morning and has said she is going to do them pastel pink and sparkly all over.
Really looking forward to tomorrow as after lunch me and DD are off to a bridal fayre, purely on a professional level, but am going to dress for the occasion and try and take note of how others dress, see if I can get any tips
Have a lovely weekend everyone, big hugs to those who need or want, and smile for everyone, please pass on
My nails are not so great at the moment as I broke a couple of last weekend and those are really short and were sore. I spent most of last week wearing nude Nail Envy but made the effort to paint them on Thursday night. Hate when they are like this as I don't like wearing my usual bold colours. Am wearing a putty coloured one by Sephora by OPI called Don't Feed the Hand Models.
Usual fabbing done this morning and keeping up with the application of body lotion so all good. Made my shopping list and will head out to the supermarket soon.
Have a great day ladies xBack for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. I pledge to only buy when I run out of a product that is not already in my stash no matter what wonderful emails land in in my Inbox or threads I read on MSE re: glitches!

Morning all and thanks for the welcome, hope you're feeling better, maman.
Thanks all for good wishes. I'm feeling much brighter today.:)
Glad you're feeling happier too LL.
I had managed to cut out the evening chocolate by not returning to the habit after all Christmas chocs were finished (or given away). Last night I succumbed. I think I just wanted to cosset myself. I recommend Aldi 70% cocoa Moser Roth. It's great. I bought Bournville a few months back and had to throw it away as it was so sweet.
Don't envy you helping out on the boat silva. Not my idea of fun but I suppose when you get to lie back on deck in the summer it'll make up for it!:rotfl:
People watching is a great pastime rubies and excellent for getting ideas of looks you like. Conversely you can be critical too of things you'd avoid like the plague (but keep you comments to yourself or on here;)).
I like the idea of focussing on one change a week rose. I'm off out in a minute and you've inspired me to wear a skirt and knee length boots rather than just put jeans on automatically.:) I've got food shopping to do and (saddo that I am) to pick up my new knickers from M&S!!:j0 -
Yes I'm still busy "Kondoing" I,ve rescued an old biscuit tin that mum used to keep her receipts in. It must be older than I am because I can remember her using it when I was a little girl. I shall keep IIt and use it as a memory box.
My sister has kept the button tin. I think that originally it belonged to our Grandmother. Playing with the button box, sorting the buttons into colours etc was one of our favourite pastimes. Even my boys liked to play with it, using the buttons to learn their colours and how to count. So yes we had a real Kon Marie moment with those old tins.
My sister is very sentimental so I'm not making any attempt to stop her keeping Anything she wants. You have to give people time to let go at their own pace. I have to say in many ways I feel very uncomfortable at parting with mums things when she isn't even dead, it doesn't sit well with me.
I feel very strange about the whole process and more than a little angry with my father if I'm honest. Yes she is wife but she is also our mother too, he seems to forget that. Yes he has told us to keep whatever we want but that's not the point.
He has been pushing me for ages to clear the house. The other day he complained that he has been waiting for months for us to do it. I had to point out that I have not been in a fit state - he really doesn't get that I'm still working through my own grief and that having to sort through mums personal effects is a just another level of strain and stress for me.
He can be very obtuse at times and more than a little thoughtless. Luckily my sister understands how I feel, so we just support each other. He's nearly 89' he's not going to change now.
One thing I have learned is not to let things get out of hand, to keep on top if clutter and have everything organised.......which is why I'm enjoying the KonMAri thread - it's really helping me focus.
Today it's the kitchens turn:rotfl:0 -
Wonderful sunny morning here, really lifts the spirits. I feel that I have sort of emerged from under a cloud, I think the horrid virus that has been really pulling me down for the last 8 weeks or so is finally moving home:D It is a physical feeling and I am glad to see the back of it.
Loving all the talk of fabbing and gorgeous nails, VALM, like you I have a couple of horrid ones that are just too short to apply colour too as they don't reach end end of my fingers:(. I have written "manicure" on my to do list and must fit it in around the house fabbing and food prep today.
Off to look up the Kon Marie thing, I have made a start on thinning down our possessions, I need some order in my life:D
LL - I really feel for you and your sister, it must be so very hard, take care of you.
Another vote for the Aldi "good" chocolate, it is delish and one can get a huge chocolate hit from a small amount, I have not been able to eat ordinary chocolate for ages, agree it seems to be nothing but chemicals and oil:eek:The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. Hello all!
I'm sorry I haven't been around again this week but its been another manic one with work. But its Saturday and I finally have time to catch up with your antics.
I have done basic fabbing (make up off, night cream most nights, nails and toenails painted and filed last night) but that's about the extent of it this week. I will have a nice soak in the bath and defuzz, scrub etc later this afternoon.
Had a busy morning so far - walked the dog in the park, been to do the grocery shopping, cleaned the house, laundry etc and am finally having a little sit down before I start again.
May be going out for dinner tonight so will make a special effort for that if it happens and even if we stay in I'll try a bit harder than usual. :-)
I think I've lost a bit of weight - I feel flatter and slimmer - I didn't weigh after Xmas as I get a bit obsessed with the scales so I'm just going off what I look like naked and how clothes feel. I've been so busy that I haven't really had any time to worry about it but perhaps that's a good thing?
Its well being week in work this coming week and so I'm going to book in a massage (for free!) and go to a yoga class on Monday. Will hopefully go swimming tomorrow too.
Better get on with the rest of the chores - hope you all have a great weekend

Hello again
Got a nice comment about the dress I was wearing today which shows the care in outfits is working. The dress is one I picked up from a charity shop and altered. It is a Per Una and was calf length but I chopped it off at the under bust seam and cut off about 6 inches then reattached it to make it knee length. It's one of the things I like about buying from charity shops as I can go for a decent quality but then don't mind changing things as I've only spent a fiver.
I also made sure I slowed down when eating lunch - DH took me out to lunch as a treat when I got back from work. I found I was loading my food onto my fork straight after taking a mouthful so just made sure I was aware of finishing a mouthful and swallowing it before getting any more food on the fork. It really worked as I felt full quite quickly. I already am in the habit of giving some of my chips to DH as soon as the plate arrives but gave him some more further on into the meal plus an onion ring. I also ordered a small slice of cheesecake and found I felt full quite quickly. Now I have to persuade DH into a similar way of eating and also not hand my extras on as it's the last thing he needs!!
So a successful day so far. I shall take a small packed tea to work as I still feel very full and endeavour to eat that slowly too.

Rosewood - I also eat really quickly, although I haven't done anything about it yet. Something I have done which helps is to use smaller plates for my food. I bought some 'side plates' from ikea and use that to control my portions. We recently had Chinese food for dinner and I couldn't load anything extra on my plate and it really made me stop and think about how much more I could realistically eat.0
