Afternoon all - good to see us in good form.
I've had a busy day so far - 2 loads of washing and drying, good scrub, hoover and dust of the whole house, big shop done in Sainsbobs, popped to new car garage to drop off some docs they forgot to ask me for before they let me drive off in a brand new swanky car over Xmas (!!) and done a very windy dog walk.
So, I'm just having a little sit down before doing a bit of school work.

Talking of holidays, Fling and I are going to New York in April for his "big" birthday - I went bonkers and bought the flights for his Xmas present (must have been in a very weak moment) and he's just booked a very nice hotel in Time Square for us to stay at. I have exactly three months to get sorted in terms of being fab and gorgeous - eek! There won't be bikinis involved on this holiday (more like long johns!) but we will be going for a few nice dinners and a show etc so I want to be someone he's proud of when we're there, even if the daytimes will be jeans, woolly socks and boots....

Will then start thinking about a beach holiday in the summer - that will have to be a cheap and cheerful one as this long weekend is costing more than enough.

Whilst shopping today I bought lots of lovely fruit - blackberries, grapes, raspberries, strawberries etc - and no naughty stuff except one bag of crisps (my weakness) so I'm trying...(ish)

Feel loads better after a good sleep (although the wind woke me up at 6 and so I gave up and got up) and now the house is sparkly clean (its never really dirty but I'm a bit obsessive about it being spotless).
Fling is cooking tonight so I'll make a bit of an effort to curl hair, defuzz, do make up and wear something nice - he always comments when I do bless him. Will do another dog walk before it gets dark for a bit more exercise and look into swimming times tomorrow- I have to get back into it....

    Afternoon All,

Sounds as though everyone is enjoying the results of their fabbing.

I am about to go to work so have just got changed ready. I'm wearing a knee length wrap over jersey dress. It's got a black background with small blue, white and beige circles as an all over pattern. I've teamed it with a short sleeved short blue cardigan, the new blue and silver pendant necklace my Mother bought me for Christmas, antique silver and blue drop earrings, black tights and the ubiquitous black suede knee high boots. My hair survived the swim this morning as I clipped up it out of the way. I tend to keep my head out of the water anyway as I keep my contact lenses in.

I seem to be doing ok on the eating front as I'm 3lbs lighter than the first of January. I am not following any special diet but have cut out the little treats that were creeping in. I don't usually eat bread anyway but have also cut back on sugary treats and cut down on chocolate though I did have a couple of pieces of Dairy Milk this morning. Four of us shared one small bar though so it wasn't much.

Like you cw18 I sometimes get mistaken for DGD's mum rather than Grandma and am always delighted when I do, although she couldn't really be mine as I was 52 when she was born. Still it's a nice feeling to think I look as though I could be.

I hope the house viewings went well LL even if they aren't quite right. I love looking at RightMove for properties in our village even if I haven't any plans to move at present. If the right property came up with room to convert, DS and I would quite like to buy something together and turn it into 2 joined living spaces but it would need to be pretty big and have room for separate entrances etc. We found one a couple of years ago but it got snapped up by a cash buyer whilst we were getting estimates from a builder on conversion costs.

Must dash and make a packed tea to take to work.

Afternoon All - reciprocal fabbing going on here. DGD popped round to do my roots for me & while the colour was developing I tweezed her eyebrows & altered a top & leggings for her and then she gave my hair a trim after I'd washed off the colour. Hair looks great but as I'm not going anywhere today just moisuriser & perfume on.
Out tomorrow so will pull the stops out then!
Sorry LL - I thought weigh in day was Sunday. I'll report tomorrow & then next Saturday. I booked a holiday late last year for this year too - 2 weeks in Turkey in September. DH has decided to go to Scotland with his 'Trike' buddies & this is the first time I've holidayed without him. Lots of other older single ladies going so should be good fun although I know I'll miss him (in a good way - haha)
I've told him if the weather is pants he's to late book & join me :)
Off to start tea going - have a fab evening everyone

Valm - I'm fascinated in the hairy bikers diet challenge - are you following the recipe books or is it something different?

I'd promised myself some tops in a sale, just before my ban on clothes buying - they arrived yesterday but just don't look right so have gone straight back :(. Bit disappointed but am determined to have only things I love/look good in, in my wardrobe.

I'm generally sticking to my diet, refusing to get weighed, but hope to see some difference in clothes fitting by the end of the month. Been meal planning and food buying to order, which is a novelty for me as I usually just buy what I fancy. We have a huge amount of veg and I'm hoping to do at least one meat-free day this week.

Not feeling very fab today as been swimming with the family so look a bit windswept!

Lots of lovely fabbing going on and loving all the holiday plans. OH is currently studying maps and camp site details with a view to us going off to Scotland for 3 and a bit weeks in May, desperate to get well and fit before then:)

My two "positives" were sticking out for a face to face GP appointment rather than a telephone consultation, had results of several blood tests viewable on line, receptionist said all tests normal no need to see/speak with Doctor, funny that my on-line results show all 3 parts of one test the be very low abnormal then:( I am also going to fight for an iron infusion while I wait for Gastroscopy, goodness knows how long the wait will be. Second positive, I went and bought top of range supplements and spent all day doing a spread sheet showing contents of my purchases against RDAs and therapeutic ranges for recovery, and now a third positive, just received a phone call from an old friend who had moved house twice last year and I had no address or phone number for:D

Fingers crossed that OH gets to go cycling as normal tomorrow, looking forward to doing some fabbing and sorting through some more clothes and shoes:)

I hope that everyone and properties are safe from the gales.

Hi sweaty Betty, the HB website has the same recipes as the books so you wouldn't need to buy the books. To be fair it's a calorie controlled diet however am really impressed by the diary which gives a nutritional breakdown of your daily intake.
Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. I pledge to only buy when I run out of a product that is not already in my stash no matter what wonderful emails land in in my Inbox or threads I read on MSE re: glitches!

Thank you Silvasava regarding the bb cream, i know what tinted moisteuriser is so why do they need to have different titles? Neither wonder I don't know what i am doing.

BB creams are a lot more hi-tech and multi-functional than the older tinted moisturisers and advances are being made all the time with new science and wonder ingredients being discovered. They combine various active ingredients which you would in the past have got from using a range skincare products. e.g. primer, spf and anti-oxidants for wrinkle and anti-aging ingredients. Just to add more confusion further developments and advances have lead to CC (colour correcting) and DD (Daily Defence or Dynamic Do-All) creams

Thanks for the info on BB, CC & dD creams Kiwi - I still have it in the back of my mind that they are new names for old products (like washing machine powders) but you are right - with sunscreens & anti-oxidants etc they are much more advanced.
Weighed myself this morning as promised - I've only lost just under 1lb but I've not been very active this week - what with the weather & still getting over this cough thats going around - still its in the right direction.
Off to have a quick bath & tidy all those important little places & then fab up to go out with DH lunchtime
    Have a fabby day everyone!

  • Been giving this fabbing thread a lot of thought. I love how thoughtful and supportive everyone is, I and know its all about giving ourselves time to look and feel better, but I have a big question for you.......

My make up bag is fairly empty, 1 mascara (worn occasionally) lip stick (worn bit more often) various eye shadows (only when I feel I must) plus one dried up foundation.

The thing is I can wear mascara and lipstick, and I am doing so more since this thread, but whenever I wear anything more, I feel like a fraudster, I don't feel like me.

So do I just accept who I am, throw away and be happy with mascara and lippy, or really try and wear the rest?

I can't decide if i'm being ok-ish with who I am, or lazy haha :)
Loving life to the full, just need purse full too :)
