  • It’s been few days now since I wrote on here and it doesn't feel like I have done much so I’ve decided I need to write done everything I’ve done so far or am doing now.

So I now add a dab of perfume each morning as I get dressed.
I have removed my makeup (token amount used each day) and cleansed every evening before bed.
Used my moisturiser with every shower.
Have hand cream out in my bedroom, bathroom and kitchen and am using almost every time I wash my hands.
I have also used a face mask I was given for Christmas.
Attack/removed a lot of the dry skin on my feet (and moisturised them).
Neatened up my finger nails and started using a clear nail varnish.

And tonight, with considerable planning to get both my kids in and out the bathroom earlier (and quicker), had a lovely soak in the bath with a lush bath bomb and candles. :) I can’t remember the last time I managed that so it was a major achievement for me and one I’m going to try and repeat soon.

I have also made a list of all the things I need to/would like to do both for work (I’m self employed), personal stuff/paperwork and around the house. This has helped me clear my head and prioritise everything. I have now started on some of important bits that I have been putting off.

I’m still working on getting more sleep.

Would just like to add that all your positive posts, which I am try to read daily, are really helping me to stay inspired and determined that I can be fab too. Thank you x

    Good Evening fellow fabbers,

The positivity on this thread is so motivating and infectious,

Thank you Silvasava regarding the bb cream, i know what tinted moisteuriser is so why do they need to have different titles? Neither wonder I don't know what i am doing.

Before bedtime last night the husband wanted to see me in the new clothes. Blimey i felt really awkward parading about in front of him, however some don't fit as they are too big which is no bad thing. So i have some to keep and some to return.

Got all my fabbing done this morning then headed to the hairdresser. It went ok, going to the hairdresser is not something i enjoy but she got me through.

After a lengthy consultation and advice about more regular washing we decided that a couple of inches needed to come off. She also advised me against having any colour put in. So it washed, cut, dried and straightened all for the sum of £27. plus £3. for a tip and i was out the door.

She advised me to get some kind of keratin treatment done as my hair is very thick and unruly. I didn't commit to anything as i want to research it further, all i know is that it costs £80. and takes about two hours.

After my hair appt i had planned to go and see about getting the eyebrows sorted but i forgot all about it!!

I did get another couple of bits of new clothes but i have yet to try them.

This fabbing is really making me feel so much better in myself.

    Thanks ladies

    Regards

    Good morning ladies.

Slept like a baby last night and feel great. A good nights sleep just has to be one of the best health and beauty treatments on the planet.
Currently snug in bed with stray cat curled up next to me, sipping my coffee that ds2 bought me. He's a good lad.;)

Fab Friday today - so glad rags on and best foot forward.

For the newbies Fab Friday is the day when we remind ourselves what we are trying to achieve so it's the day we make that extra special effort, wear something nice and just generally pay extra attention.

Well today I'm off to visit my parents and do a bit of shopping. They always notice what how I look and will often comment. I do like to make a special effort when I visit them, they like to see me looking nicely turned out.

Another few minutes and then I'll get up.

Have a great day. Keep up the good work. X

Morning ALL - not much fabbing done yesterday but I did remove the twinkly varnish - what a b*gger to get off!! the twinkles really 'stick'. I've still got the last knockings of the cough/cold that's been going around but feel quite good 'cos i went to Yoga last night. My friend usually goes to the same teacher but on a different night - she's had the lurgy too & didn't attend this week but rang to see if I was going so she came with me although she did struggle a bit with her cough - poor girl.
Right - I've a sort of 'confession' Five years ago I was diagnosed with breast cancer (Mammogram & VERY early stage) I had the op & radiotherapy - no chemo & I've now been discharged from the Oncologist - just keep taking the tablets!
To make sure the radiotherapy is targetted to the correct place every time they tatto you with two small dots to line up the machine. One is in the centre of my chest just above my (small) cleavage & I know it sounds silly but I'm very conscious of it as it looks like a large blackhead! (well, to me anyway) & although I dont wear low cut clothes, in the summer when I wear a bathing costume or scoop necks I'm very aware of it and somehow its a constant reminder of something that I want to forget - now I've written it down it all sounds very trivial but I've made an appointment on Monday to see if I can get it removed or 'faded' out. I did try covering it with foundation but it rubs off on your clothes. I'll report back on how I get on!
There is also a large M&S in the town where my appontment is so I'll have a look to see if there is anything FAB to use my voucher on! Maybe some pretty undies?
Tooties - how lovely that your DH wanted to see you in your new purchases - good for him that he appreciates you and takes an interest - please don't feel awkward with your man - flaunt it girl!!

I'm doing my best for Fab Friday. Casual but smartish: clean jeans, soft angora sweater and heeled ankle boots. I really find heels improve my posture but not always practical if I'm going to be doing lots of walking but I'm taking every opportunity. Off to hairdressers shortly.

silva, it might help to use the technique they use for shellac when you have difficult to remove polish. They soak some remover in a little bit of cotton wool and then 'bandage' it to each fingernail with a piece of foil. Here's a clip that shows it, but they've used cotton wool pads.

I can't recommend enough getting properly measured for a bra. I went to a local independent but I'm sure M&S are just as good. Now I know my proper size (lost inches on my back but maintained cup size:j) I look every time I'm in TKMaxx to see what's available. I often get something in there for half to a third of the price elsewhere.

But don't talk to me about knickers!! I'm still unhappy that M&S discontinued my favourites so I keep buying odd pairs from here and there hoping for a suitable alternative. A bit like M&S Classic trousers, big knickers are another no-no for me but thongs aren't really my thing either!:rotfl:

Lovely, bright day here. I don't know if we have any northern friends that are suffering with gales. If so, take great care.:)

This post made me smile. I had done this unconsciously this morning. Made sure I slathered lots of body oil on - am getting better at applying moisturiser/oil after a shower in the morning but not my evening one. I think I'm too keen to get out of the shower and spend time with MrM!

Although I enjoy wearing make up for work I very rarely wear eyeshadow despite having a couple of lovely palettes to use. Anyway, since Christmas has just gone and I got another new one I have been applying it this week. Today though I decided to pull out my MUA palette (copy of UD Naked) and must admit I did look like I had too much on by the time I left but didn't care!

I was going to post the foil technique too. I have found using an acetone polish remover gets glitter off without the foil however it depends on how good condition your nails are in to begin with. Also, OPI sell a new Glitter Off base coat which means you can just peel the polish off without remover. Sadly, though I've found that my colour chips quicker with this on. Must repaint my nails tonight.

I definitely agree with you about bra fittings and feel your pain re: knickers. I had a bit of a wardrobe malfunction myself yesterday as I felt so fab I put a thong on. Put tights over the top and found myself hitching the wrong piece of undergarment up during the day!! Sorry if this is TMI ladies. lol.

I live up North and he wind is awful today. Felt a bit chesty when I got into work this morning. Never mind, don't really have any plans for the weekend so will stay inside and keep warm.

Have had an email today about the Hairy Bikers Diet Club and their six week challenge. Am considering joining up.
Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. I pledge to only buy when I run out of a product that is not already in my stash no matter what wonderful emails land in in my Inbox or threads I read on MSE re: glitches!

Maman & Valm - totally agree with you both on good fitting bra's & knickers (although I can't stand thongs - or cheesecutters as they are known in our household!) Dont want big knickers either - I have managed to get some nice ones in Matalan on occasions & like Maman I find their bra's a good fit for me & much more reasonable in price than M&S.

Thank you both for the tip on glitter varnish - I did use an acetone based remover but I dont want to do that too often!

  • Really pleased with myself today. Finished work, and instead of aiming so I finish just in time to pick boys up from school, finished half hour earlier, so had time to come home, have a quick but peaceful shower, moisturised, sprayed hair with some forgotten body spray and very quick blow dry. Doesn't sound much, but to me it is :) Now about to put hair in some Velcro rollers ready for tonight, while I tidy up a bit.

Lost 1 1/4 lbs this week and I think I've lost the weight in my feet!!! Friday (or every other Friday) is theme night. 3 families take it in turn to cook for others and kids chose what country, they have to find an interesting fact about country and that also decides on the menu
(our turn this week). This week is India, so i'm cooking curry's galore!

So decided, cause I aren't going out in this wet windy weather, I could wear a skirt and top. Sipped on my court shoes and they are too big!!! So I must be starting my weight loss at the bottom and working my way up (fingers crossed).

Slightly cheating tonight, I would normally bake cakes / cookies etc, but I really need to get rid of my Christmas choc, so going to hand that out for pudding instead, sure no-one will mind.
Loving life to the full, just need purse full too :)

My word, YES on the get a good bra comments. I have a brand that I found in an independent store, Mary Jo, that fit me really well and I can wear them all day without once wanting to take them off - which was a revelation to me! I also went down in the chest measurement and up in the cup size - clearly a common problem.

So I have been a bit fab today, Hair done, and make up put on for the day. I also went for a run for the first time in a month so I hope that physically I will be getting fab too. Having a good diet too.
    Trying to keep in budget.

Don't put yourself down rubies:naughty:. I think fitting in that shower and little pamper was a great idea plus it gave you a bit of me time. You seem to have a really busy life so you need to factor that in. Great about the weightloss but strange about your shoes.

I don't think puddings really go with curry so handing round the chocs is perfect. I think the most I'd have done was fruit or ice cream but much better to ue up what you've got in and better than eating it yourself!!

I'm delighted with my hair. While I was there I asked where he got the hair clips for separating for blow drying from. Hairdresser kindly gave me two so now I have plenty. Ironically I called into Home Bargains on the way back (sad but I'm excited about that as they've only just appeared down here) and they had exactly those clips in there.

I'm not a big costume jewellery fan but today I did wear my Trollbead (bit like Pandora) bracelet. I've built it up with all natural coloured beads and silver spacers so it looked good with my jumper. DH offered compliments when I appeared so I must have done something right.:)

:wave:gien. I was delighted with my bra size, no problem for me. I started off at 36B, got fat and went up to 38D, lost weight and went down to 34D. Result!!:T

Hope everyone has a good weekend.
