Frugal Frump to Fab - 2015

Well, I have finally decided to spend the money that I received at solstice on assisting my journey to fab!!
In the past twelve months, I have started to get really hard skin on my feet - it's never happened before and I am not wearing any different footwear etc so I guess it must be down to age!!So, I have bought myself a pedi-set to see if it helps....
I have also booked my eyebrow appointment, so hopefully by next week I will feel less like a yeti!!
Not doing too well on the bits of fabbing that I actually have to make an effort for thoughI have not really done anything that I intended to do - no moisturising completed today or yesterday; haven't drank as much water as intended; not as much fruit and veg as intended and nowhere near the physical exercise that I wanted to pack in!!
I have been really busy over the past couple of days, but I know that it's the same excuse that I always use and this year, I meant to do better....right, feeling guilty now so I am off to get showered, de-fuzzed, moisturised and get some perfume on before I'm evicted from the thread!!
hope you feel better soon sweetcheeks and sliva; happy belated birthday heebie and happy fabbing to everyone!!Mortgage 12.12.12 £55842 12.12.13 £42716 14.12.14 £28837 13.12.15 £25913

DS1's Birthday get together was great. I had a comment on how nice I looked, someone else noticed my nails & another person liked my perfume (not overpowering - Dolce Vita) and didnt get home until after midnight!
That's great. All compliments are welcome. Although (I think) we're all doing this for ourselves and our own self esteem it does help when someone else notices.
I started posting and then ran off to put perfume on.;) I try to keep it close to my make up but it's not yet ingrained as a habit.
It is tempting in Ikea's restaurant LL. It's generally such good value and ours has a lovely view from the windows too. I try to have a starter plate of gravadlax with salad if I want a snack but it's easy for me as I don't have a sweet tooth.
I think house fabbing and decluttering can be included in the thread. Personally I find it really helps my state of mind and achievement if I'm organised and get a job done whatever it is.0 -
Hi all,
Well half way through the week and I'm feeling pretty good.
I'm loving the wearing perfum everyday, and wearing lip gloss throughout the day too - who'd have thought two simple things would make me feel better.
The gym has been great getting back, so many people stopped liked me in the middle of December so we're all going back at the same time too. I've done spinning Monday and Tuesday and last night did a HIT class too, tonight will be the tester as it's TRX and kettlebells (ARGHHHH).
i've got a hygienist appointment Friday, so that's to look forward to (?!?!).
Work is going well, all caught up and manageable.
All in all a good new year so far.Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0 -
Hello lovely ladies (and any gents!). I've been lurking (oo-er) on this thread and decided I need to join. I've gone from being a mature student and dog walker (where I never needed to bother with hair/nice clothes etc) to working in an office where the ladies always look immaculate. So as I enter the last year of my 20's it's time to get glam!
Have been making small changes: wearing perfume, making sure my nails are at least filed (if not painted). Also making sure my hair looks presentable rather than shoving it up!
I even booked myself in for a mani/pedi and leg wax last week through special offers. Can't afford to do this all the time but certainly felt pampered!
Will make sure I check in so I don't fall back into old ways...
74jax - thanks for the reminder to get a dentist's appointment!0 -

I really think thats a good point - it's making things a habit.
I left my perfume out to take to work, just a small atomiser (is that what it's called) and even though it was right by my stuff I must have looked at it and ignored it....... Its not too bad as i have a squirt of the stuff before I leave the house and remembered all week, but I wanted it 'on hand' for if i wanted more at work.
I also want to get in the habit of using mouth wash - not hard, I brush my teeth every day, it's RIGHT BY the blooming toothbrush/paste, but no, some days (most) I completely forget it entirely.
I'm getting in the habit of taking my make up and using my creams and potions, but more so as I bought a great Estee Lauder starter pack and just love all the bits in it, but it's been about a month now and I still love doing it.
I honestly do think, for me anyway, I need to get in the habit of doing things, so it just come more naturally.Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....0 -
Good Morning Lovely Ladies,
I've not posted for a few days as I was struck by the coughing virus that has been sweeping our local area. I felt very ill Saturday night and all day Sunday but seem to have got off fairly lightly compared to many people as I am well on the way to recovery now. I'm still coughing a bit but feel fairly well - though the old pelvic floor doesn't cope well with coughing fits!!!
You have got off lightly really. Everyone at my workplace have been affected by this nasty cold. I had it in November and was off work for nearly a week with it. Feels like I stopped coughing round about Christmas time. I know what you mean about the pelvic floor problems with that too. Sorry if that's TMI.
A bit of a so-so day today. I think TOTM is due as both yesterday and today I have felt hungrier and wanted to snack more although maybe it's my body bemoaning the fact it's not being fed 24/7! Anyway, did do another 30mins worth of Just Dance this morning. Breakfast was my yummy fruit, natural yogurt and granola combo. Lunch was when I went really awry. Had to go out to ASDA to buy some cod for tea and ended up buying a sandwich, snacksized sushi and pack of Freddo bars (that's how I know TOTM is due) and munched my way through these (only one Freddo though and I don't beat myself up over this cos my choccie choice could have been a whole lot worse, couldn't it?). Gave Freddos to all my workmates so I won't be tempted to eat the whole pack too.
For tea we're having cod and chorizo parcels. Thought we had cod in the freezer but when I pulled the pack out this morning and opened it found it was finnan haddock that had been mislabelled. Annoying!
Only thing not fab today was my hair. I keep trying not to wash it too often to maintain its colour but this morning I should have washed it but sprayed dry shampoo on it instead. By the time I got to work I was all mussed up. Nevermind, onwards and upwards though. xBack for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. Hi Welsh lady this year is the first time I haven't made a resolution to look after my feet because I just don't. Wish I could afford to go and have regular pedicures.
The new Just Dance is brilliant though I've got to figure out how to leave the world dance floor without losing my points.
Need to repaint my nails tonight too. Have eaten, washed up and showered. Will do them next while watching some TV.Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. Evening everyone!
I had a productive day, had a nice bath, went swimming then to a mental health group drop in this evening. I've been going for a while, but spoke to someone today about volunteering there. I've got some info to look at for that. I also signed up to an NHS local weight loss group that starts in Feb, and enquired about a meditation course.
Wow, that seems like a lot written down! I'm stressing out a bit about it all
Think I'll have an early night with a good book and try to chill out.0 -
Nothing fab happening here at the moment! I'm really caught up in getting back into a routine after the Christmas break.
I am in bed early though, which is very necessary as my sleep is dreadful at the moment (night hot flushes and insomnia - it's my age!).Trying to keep in budget.
