  • Hello Pirateyqueen and Fabbing Ladies,

I thought I had read somewhere about someone similar to me! I've had 3 braces since teenage years. Jaw surgery also supposedly only solution but look up Prof John Mew, or Dr Mike Mew or orthotics, lots of videos on youtube. Amazing results for overjets and overbites and natural facelift to boot!

Their appliances are worn at night and go behind the teeth so no clunky braces on view. You are young enough to really get the benefit. Hope you find it interesting. I will let you know how I get on.

I think having had a weird smile has meant that I look after my skin and hair and I have at times given up on my smile and now my teeth are stained and broken. So this year is Operation Get a Smile!

I have flossed for the last three days and used pearl drops one day.

    Best wishes to everyone!

PS Dark shadows under eyes - mine have disappeared after giving up gluten.
  • Oops! Pirateyqueen It's called Orthotropics not orthotics ha ha, a bit early for me.
  • Morning all Happy Birthday Heebie-jeebie have a lovely day xx

I have TDJ and hypermobility, my jaw peremently dislocates on both sides (as well as other joints) So my teeth have huge over bites, sit side ways apart and my teeth are crooked. Had braces but because I have soft gums and tiny teeth they came apart again, nothing that very expensive surgery would fix..lucky as I have small teeth you can't see them when I smile! I do have a nightguard which helps when the jaw gets very painful in winter ..but I hate it not sexy and feel like I'm wearing dentures! Hey ho all fun!

Nails and pedicure done even used the descaler thingy I got to trail from veet? You know like an angle grinder to take off the hardskin. No drink went to bed on some loose leaf tea instead and a book. Woke up wide awake at 5am lol so read more book.
Today I will put on a skirt/dress and make up and do my hair.

    Treats I used to enjoy

    Manicure Mondays
    Facial Fridays
    Stockings Saturday

Used to enjoy wearing sexy undies but feel so fat and frumpy think hubby would laugh..plus none of it fits now!

Hooded eyes does anyone use some magic cream to give their eyelids a lift..besides stapling my forehead back up?

Oh and Butterfly twist shoes anyone know where I can get a cheaper pair, I like to start wearing heels again (getting there) but Would like to wear them at my destination , As I walk a lot! Thanks Have a lovely day all xx

Happy Birthday Heebie-Jeebie  Your share my DS1's birthday today :)

Majjak - Yes you can do Yoga at any weight & any age! I've been doing it now for about 20 years & tried a number of 'styles' but my current teacher is mainly 'Hatha Yoga' which is mainly breathing exercises & suits me as I'm asthmatic & since I've been going to her I've not had an attack. There are a couple in my class (husband & wife) in their 80's & as CW18 says you only do what you can. I find it so calming as there is no music, no talking, no 'Keeping Up with everyone' just work to what you are able to do so do give it a try & good luck.
Just off to moisturise everything! Just got rid of cough & cold last week and another cold started yesterday  Off to see DS1 tonight as he has invited all his friends over (he does love a 'get together') so Mummy must look fab for her 'boy' (47!!) & do him proud - haha
Have a good fabbing day everyone

Happy Birthday Heebie Jeebie :bdaycake: Have a lovely day.

HAd a productive evening, went through my mountain of paperwork and managed to fill two bags for the recycling. I've still got a lot of tidying and sorting to do but aiming for IKEA today and perhaps a nice lunch somewhere with DS2 so will get fabbed up in a minute.

Also had a really good sleep, it makes such a difference. I feel so much better when I sleep well.

Re the hooded eyelids. Google Charlotte Rampling. She is famous for her hooded eyelids and she still looks fab although she is now pushing 70.

If you are really bothered then CACI - a non-invasive electrical treatment - can really lift the lids. I used to have Caci regularly and I must say I think it's one of the best non-invasive non surgical treatments there is.

I am thinking about booking a course again but first I want to lose some weight and see how it affects my face.

As the regular readers will know, several years ago I contracted skin cancer which involved surgery. My face is fine, scarring is minimal but the sugary has left my face slightLy lopsided.

I had my surgery in 2006 and the lopsided effect wasn't too noticeable at first but I think it's getting more marked. Although of course that could just be my imagination.:rotfl:

Anyway I'm adopting a wait and see approach and then if necessary I will see if Caci is enough or whether I do in fact need to have it surgically corrected.

As I mentioned before I do need to lose nearly 4 stones and this will also affect my face so I'm not making any decisions just yet.

In the meantime I'm just concentrating on skin care, from the outside using topical creams, serums etc and from the inside by improving my diet and additional vitamins and supplements.

    Anyway enough about me.

It's a bit grey and miserable here so I shall wear something bright and cheery.

    Have a good day y'all.

Just out of interest do any of you do yoga? I'm sure I read that someone did ..... My question is can you do it if you're overweight? :o

I'm thinking it might help with all the tension in my shoulders and back?

I do and definitely not a problem if you are overweight, I have seem all ages, shapes and sizes in classes that I go to. We all have certain things: old age, injuries and such like that means we're all at different levels and none of us are lithe and bendy teenager but some of our larger ladies are a lot more flexible than you might ever imagine. If you have a good teacher they should accommodate any difficulties with modifications and props, so that you can do the poses to the best of your own ability. Most yoga places have a range of classes also - e.g. for over 50s, pregnancy, absolute beginners and more advanced or general classes.

Teachers will always help you to get into poses safely to suit any existing issues and injuries you might have - certainly no need to be embarrassed if you can't manage the full poses until you build up strength and flexibility.

Thanks for that info DeeDee, I've been having a good old google on orthotropics! Is that the treatment you are hoping to undergo? From what I can see it mainly talks about the process on children, I haven't seen a lot of the information mention how it works on adults.

One of my problems is that although I have a large overbite, I have a very prominent chin which so far has worked in my favour as it sort of cancels out the fact that my lower jaw is further back, so I don;t have the typical weak chin that is generally associated with a large overbite. Because of this I was told that I would have a genioplasty whilst having my jaw surgery, to reduce my chin size. I worry that if I were able to fix my overbite without surgery then I would have a massive chin! Oh well, more questions for the dentist!
    No more goo hoarding!

heebie-jeebies a very happy birthday, hope that you have a great day.

I am still in PJ's, have been taking decorations down, but will have some lunch soon and then shower and pamper. I have ordered some Rosehip oil and am looking at ordering a couple of others to mix my own blends for a while, not sure if I will add any essential oils yet, I really need to get my facial skin completely balanced and then start trying to isolate irritants. Sunny here today, that always makes me feel better and happier:D. Yesterday I sorted 10 items of clothing to take to CS tomorrow and hopefully will have some spare duvets and old sheets to add by then, it is a small local animal sanctuary and they use old bedding and towels at the kennels or sell things for rags, so as long as donations are clean they can usually benefit from even quite old linens.

Re hooded eyes, try googling make up for hooded eyes, I think I came across a really good you tube video a while ago. To open my eye area up I always use Benefit Lemon Aid, an eye lid primer, I even use it on no make up days with a little mascara and eyebrow pencil and it makes me look quite human:D
