Well tonight didn't start off as planned, ended up with half hour to get ready and spent most of this looking in mirror sobbing at my reflection, felt so low and didn't want to go out. Hubby found me and had no idea how I felt, I hated hair, face and stomach (legs are my only good feature really).
So after a gentle talk off hubby, chose a tight knee length black skirt, baggy sparkly grey jumper, pair of black heels, wore hair down, and applied make up and perfume. Even re-applied lippy twice throughout night, corrected my posture a couple of times, and ended up having a lovely night, with the bestest hubby ever.
So basically thank you everyone on here, cause I know I wouldn't have if I hadn't read all your inspiring threads.

I'm late to the party but can I join you here? I really need to pay a bit more attention to my appearance and boost my self confidence a bit. Last year I got into a good fitness routine with a friend but found that it wasn't enough to lose the last bit of weight. I've started going through the menopause which is very uncomfortable (I am just too hot
) and I feel very frumpy and middle aged.
So my goals are:
1. Keep an eye on what I eat to lose a few pounds and see If it might help with the hot flushes.
2. Make sure I wear a bit of make up and scent everyday - I look so much better with just a bit of mascara! Also dye my eyebrows.
3. Plan to buy some new clothes. Nothing in my cupboard makes me feel good with the exception of a few dresses. I will be spending a day in Liverpool in mid February so was thinking of booking a personal shopper in John Lewis (gives me time to get a bit trimmer too).
4. Go to bed earlier. I am up at 6.15 everyday and am not sleeping well so it's a no brainier really.
I think those are acheivable goals, am starting today!Trying to keep in budget.

Glad you bit the bullet and went out even after feeling bad r4e. I have been there too!
I am 40 this week so I've decided to have a little bit of an image change. Yesterday I bought a red lipliner, lipstick and gloss. It looks fantastic! I've made some decent changes already in terms of my wardrobe and things but I want to be more focused and look as appropriate as I need to be more often. I sometimes don't really make an effort when I'm going for my shift at the charity shop so that will be the first thing to work on.
Thanks everyone.0 -
I'm going by how my clothes don't fit
I do my own eyebrows and have done for a good few years now but I'm a convert to a bit of eyebrow powder/liner after my sister showed me how to apply it a few weeks ago.
Can anyone recommend a good nail hardener I could use? Nails are a bit soft after having acrylics on for so long.
I have used OPI Nail Envy for years. It's a great product. I use it as a base coat now rather than a treatment. If you look on QVC they now sell coloured versions so you could glam it up a little while treating your nails at the same time.Evening all,
I just got caught up with the thread. I have been really busy decluttering.
Hubby and I went shopping today and i made a real effort to smile at people, by the end of the asda run i am normally quite grumpy but all that smiling left me feeling great.
I bought a new skirt and handbag today using vouchers they are both a bit more glam than i would normally go for so this fabbing must be working on me.
I have been keeping up with my hygiene and my deo and perfume not to mention the moisuriser and body butter. I am discovering that fabbing takes time.
I have been using nivea on my face and neck but i think it doesn't feel quite right, it feels heavy or something so i will try another moisteuriser for the next few days.
I have to admit that i am enjoying the fabbing and the me time.
regards
I'm guessing that Nivea could contain mineral oil and that's why it doesn't feel right on your face. I love Elemis Pro Collagen Marine Cream and have used this for years however it's very light. If you are after a more comforting cream I would recommend Liz Earle Skin Repair which I use as a night cream. It is quite rich and contains sandalwood so smells divine. You could probably get a travel sized tube from EBay to try it. HTHBack for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. I pledge to only buy when I run out of a product that is not already in my stash no matter what wonderful emails land in in my Inbox or threads I read on MSE re: glitches!

Hi Glen, welcome aboard the Fab Express.
Rubies - what a lovely story and so glad you had such a nice night in the end.
It just goes to show what a bit of fabbing can do. I think it's fair to say that a lot of us can relate to that incident. I know ive stood in front of the mirror and wept before.
And, as for your hubby, well he sounds lovely, so supportive.
Rubies - just keep going. We are all here to support you and with your lovely husband to encourage you as well you will achieve your goals.
Well the Paleo baking was a bit hit and miss, but considering I don't have any kitchen scales and all the wrong size baking tins so it was all guess work the first results weren't too bad. The cocunut macaroons turned out really well, the coconut shortbread is just about edible:o
I won't throw the shortbread away, I'll use it as a base for a cheesecake.
So my next step is to buy some scales and baking tins this week.
My Fibro has flared up again and I did struggle yesterday, although pleased to say I did manage a walk and some stretching exercises. Ok not much but it's a start.
The house is very untidy this morning but I have promised to visit my parents today so the house will just have to wait till I'm good and ready:rotfl: in the meantime I'll just cheat, find a couple of spare boxes and dump all the c r a p in there until I get chance to sort through it.
Luckily I have a Physio appt booked for tomorrow so hopefully that will sort out my back and I shall have a nice long soak in a minute to try and loosen up a bit.
I think I will also investigate the Fibro clinic too next week.
The skies have cleared and it looks like being a nice crisp day so i shall get out and about today - the cleaning can wait until it's raining!!
Have a lovely day and

Hi all
Feeling a bit tired today, we were invited round our friends last night for drinks, which turned into a takeaway. We did balance that out with long dog walk with them in the afternoon though. So with a dog walk in the morning and walking to and from their house my fitbit says I walked 17000 steps yesterday!
Don't think I will reach anywhere near that today.
So healthy eating starts tomorrow, so will have a look a some new recipes online later. Back to the gym also (I do toning tables which are great).
I will happily join those weighing in each week I need all the support I can get, I fall off the wagon so easily as I have no will power.
Have a good day everyone x :jChiari Brain Malformation - decompression survivor

OK - start as I mean to go on. Weighed myself this morning & updated my sig. 5:2 starts on Tuesday and Thursday as those day's are busy for me so I don't get chance to even think about food! I shall update every Sunday.
I'm going down to the sailing club lunchtime to catch up with friends so this morning is bath, hair wash, face mask, defuzz, moisturise. I'll look out some 'smart' jeans & a nice top & add perfume and a little makeup.
BTW - there is a website http://fiftynotfrumpy.polyvore.com & an American lady posts clothes collections that are smart & trendy & suitable for us more mature ladies. I've found it useful as sometimes I've got somthing similar in my wardrobe & it helps to 'pull' a look together or just get some ideas.Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
Morning all!
I'm another that had a good evening with the OH. I did my hair all curly after dyeing it, wore a new top picked up in the sales, smartish jeans and new red ankle boots and my new red riding hood coat and even the Fling commented on how nice I looked. Not dressed up particularly but "put together".
He has taken notice of my desire to eat more healthily and made some veggie stuffed mushrooms, roasted veg and brown rice for dinner (very nice too, he's a much better cook than me) and I succumbed to two and half small glasses of white wine but not the whole bottle as I usually would.
Had an earlyish night (!) and we both slept like logs - so I feel much better today.
Just about to take the dog for a walk - its freezing out so it will be a brisk one - then do a few hours of marking (the part of my job that I hate the most) before school starts again tomorrow.
Fabbing for today will be walking for exercise (two good walks with the woofer), a nice bath with new smellies, curly hair, trimming toe nails and maybe painting them and getting clothes ready for the week at work. I'll try to be more organised with this so I look better - its a busy week for me so if I can make a bit of effort now it may pay off during the week.
Hope everyone has a good day, making the most of what is the last day off for many of us.0 -

Definitely been there! My DH loves me as I am and encourages me all the way. Glad you had a good evening. Remember - we'll all looking (and feeling), better every day :TI'm late to the party but can I join you here? Ah - forgot sleep! I definitely need turn the light out earlier during the week!
Have a fab day, everyone!0 -
Had some lovely Avene face sreams given to me at Christmas so tried the moisture mask on while having my bath. The instructions say to wipe off the excess after 15 mins - WHAT excess!!! It all soaked in - I knew my skin wasn't good after the stinking cold but didn't think it was that bad. Never mind - skin feels lovely now & I probably wouldn't have bothered so much if it hadn't been for this thread!
Happy Fabbing Ladies!Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0
