well I had a nasty shock earlier. I finally plucked up courage to get on the scales.

I knew it would be bad but it's far worse than I imagined. No wonder I feel so tired all the time and my muscles ache so much - lugging so much extra weight around.

Ladies I have a mountain to climb............but I will reach the summit.

I'm not going to let a little thing like being overweight beat me and spoil my chances of a healthy and happy future.

Tonight I have been studying my new Paleo book and getting my head round it all And worked out a few menus to get me started.

Lovely to meet our newbies, we are going to be a merry band. Lots of great goals and plans, and loads of ideas buzzing around.

Re the dark circles, sleep, a healthy diet and plenty of water should help.

I used to use Touch! Eclat. It is expensive but a little goes a long way. I tried some cheaper versions, Superdrug and M&S but found them a bit heavy and they just seem to make matters worse.

Funnily enough the problem eventually went away. I'm now past the menopause so I'm wondering if my dark circles were linked to hormones because even when I have a restless night (like tonight)
They still don't look too bad.

Startingagain - you'll be fine, just don't try to do too much at once and overload yourself. Baby steps.

The journey to Fabdom Is a marathon, not a sprint.

Remember - the way to eat an elephant is one bite at a time.;)

    3. The other big thing the mirror told me was I have huge black circles under my eyes. Now diet will help a bit i'm sure but I have always suffered from these and would love to hear any wonder potions which might dull them down a bit. Have tried concealer in the past but that just looks wrong (full makeup day to day would look silly and overdone for my very outdoor lifestyle)

I read somewhere years ago that it doesn't matter what magic lotion you use under your eyes it's the massaging in that reduces the black circles. The lotion stops the skin from dragging so anything that doesn't make your eyes react will do.

I have some uncircle concealer. It doesn't help much if I'm honest.

    1. My hair is an issue. Badger, funny build up that nothing seems to shift and a tendency towards looking like I haven't washed it for weeks by 6pm. I was giving it a break from dye so chose the badger look over Christmas but will be coloured and cut today. I don't use products or heat, just shampoo and conditioner so the build up is annoying. I have it cut every 6 weeks which helps keep it in condition.

    2. Although I have lost a lot of weight (hurrah) some bad choices in recent weeks have made my somewhat floppy belly worse. Better food choices and some exercise other than walking are required. I need to remove from my wardrobe the things that are too big. This leaves me with very little in the way of not. work clothes.

    3. I'm 41 and am just starting to get wrinkles. Neck and hands mostly so key that I use proper cream regularly. I have a range of potions and lotions, I just need to actually use them. I've always ignored my nails but I want to sort this as I am now paranoid about my wrinkling hands so attractive nails will help. I think I will book a manicure as a starter then I can maintain if that makes sense. It's not so much the varnish as the cuticle removal that stresses me.

LL - You've just used my favourite expression with how to eat an elephant!
I must admit I've been reading peoples goals and although they are all very admirable I do wonder if there may be too many to sustain. Did i read somewhere that a new regime needs to be followed for at least 3 weeks to become a habit?
Maybe we all need to report back at the end of January on what we have achieved although I don't see 'unachievemnet' as a failure just a postponement.
I too need to get my weight back under control - we had a lovely holiday in Turkey last October & food was gorgeous & I've not stopped eating since! I've gained about 1/2 stone but its all round my middle so I'm going back on the 5:2 as it suits me and my lifestyle.
I've been saying for years that once you get past a certain age gravity sets in and everything sttles downwards so I'm gonna do everything I can to keep uplifted - haha

Gosh Silva you are so right, it all heads south......

    Good morning Everyone

Right after my terrible shock yesterday, I got up and weighed myself again this morning. Of course it's still bad but not quite as horrifying as last night.

    So........

I am going to take the morning weight as my benchmark and it begins today.

I know this isn't a weight loss thread, but I have decided that Saturday will be my weigh in day. I will report my progress back to you on Saturday mornings. If anyone wants to join me we can have own little slimming club, no fees, no special diets, you all just do your own thing.

anyway, that's my plan, Ive taken my measurements and shall start a diet journal.

Yes my weight too has settled round my middle, not good news for someone with a genetic disposition to T2 diabetes.

Anyway enough moaning, it's up to me. Time to get serious, sensible eating and getting more active.

I'm typing this with a face mask on, so it's a nice bath, hair wash, and a good slathering. Today will be house cleaning and a bit of domestic goddessing in the kitchen.

It's a bit miserable out but I shall go for a brisk walk as part of the new exercise regime - well as brisk as I can manage.

I have 3stones and 12 lbs to lose and I am giving myself a year to do it. I think that sounds realistic - roughly 1lb per week.

Ladies - I know that you're all fired up, but I do agree with Silva here, don't set yourselves up for disappointment by setting yourselves unrealistic goals.

It's so easy to start all guns blazing and then fizzle out.

My advice is this, it took us a long while to become frumps. Frumpdom just somehow crept up on us all unawares. Becoming Fab won't happen overnight.

Just take baby steps and allow a few good habits to take root and become established before you move on to the next phase.

Start with grooming and posture, add in healthy eating and a bit of exercise if you can and then build up from there.

Keep Calm and Carry On Fabbing. X

    Morning all!
I'm not brave enough to get on the scales....
I don't think it will be more than about half a stone worse than it used to be but I've decided to just cut down and do a bit more exercise and see how my clothes feel and how I look naked. This is a first for me - I usually become obsessed by the scales and calories etc and it does work but I do become consumed by it all.

Strangely, after just two days of no booze and healthier food I feel flatter and less bloated. I think a lot of the festive weight is water retention for us all from too much booze, salt and sugar and so when we start to eat properly again some of the excess drains away. BUT there is definitely a nice layer of flab there too - I can't wee myself out of this one!

So today, I have lots of work to do still - going to try for 4 hours worth and see how far I get with it all. Must start soon!
I'm spending the evening with the Fling and so will beautify a bit for that (including dyeing my hair finally and a full defuzz).
I've already done a 30 min brisk walk with the dog in the rain so I've had a bit of exercise but I might try to fit in another burst of something a bit more energetic later. Just realised the time though so I'd better get on with it all....

Hope we all have a good day.

    Morning everyone!
Last night's pamper session was lovely :) I had a nice bath with bubbles, a face and body scrub, moisturise and did my nails. Lit a candle I got for Christmas, read a good book and had an early night. DH goes out most Fridays, so I shall try to get into the habit of doing that every Friday.
Healthy eating's not going too well :( But no booze is helping my calorie intake at least. We're going out today and may well end up being out till late, so I'm going to make some sausage sandwiches to take with us (reduced fat sausages and brown bread) so I don't resort to junk when out.
I've also got a nice outfit all picked out for this evening. Black dress with jumper and boots for this afternoon, then I'll just take some heels and my leopard fur trimmed cardigan to change into later in case we don't make it home in between. Must remeber to take some make up and a hair brush as well!

I signed up to Debenhams beauty card and there's an offer for a brow wax for your birthday, has anyone tried it? I'm debating braving it, but have never had anything done to my eyebrows apart from plucking at home!

    Morning everyone,

I am afraid to say I'm still in my PJs ! I've been taking all the decorations down but I did find time to slap on some daily moisturiser. All done now so just having a coffee and a catch up before I go and get dressed, put on some make up, have a squirt of my favourite perfume and go food shopping. So many times I've gone shopping in my slouchy clothes, no make up, looking like worzel gummidge and seen loads of people I know!

    Aims for today:

Get food shopping done looking half decent!
Paint finger and toe nails this evening.
Try and eat a bit less, still struggling with this one as there's still a lot of Christmas goodies to get through :o.

I'll pop in later to see what everyone has even up to, have a fab day :j

Why is it I only seem to meet people I know out shopping when I'm looking like a bag lady? When I'm neat & smart - no-one!!!

I like having my brows waxed & the best place I've found 4 this is the Benefit Brow Bar. Mind you this is probably due 2 the fact that they give you a little make over afterwards 2 hide the redness!

So last night I did have a drink after all. I think it's still the association with weekend that did it. Any way 2 recover from this I've played Just Dance this morning. Set an alarm 4 1 hour and danced the whole time. Managed 2 find the calorie counter within the game & notched up 138 calories so pleased with that. seems that I have unlocked some fitness versions 2. Have now had breakfast of mixed summer fruit with natural yogurt & granola and had lovely shower. Am now going 2 apply body oil as I've been neglecting body moisturisation lately & style my hair before getting on with the washing & ironing.

    I'll happily be a diet buddy 2.
