I'm ashamed to admit that I can't ride a bike!:o
Thanks for the heads up on the fake Benefit chanie. I love High Beam and needed a new one so have ordered the dupe instead. I wonder do they do any other Benefit dupes?
Have a lovely birthday rowan. You did well with your new clothes. Boden is a favourite of mine.
If the GF is having that effect I'd just stick to it Maddie, sounds amazing. I think I'm seriously unfit. I walked to the Post Office yesterday (about 10 mins away) but it's a tiny slope back up and I could really feel my calf muscles pulling. After Easter I'm going to put a bit of a walking programme together for myself.
I did Fab Fursday;) too. I had a meeting this afternoon so it was back to the pencil shirt and heels and make up. I love my skirt and I'm thinking I might look out for a summer version.
Have a good weekend whatever you're doing. I'm back from Harrogate on Tuesday night.:)0 -
Hello everyone!
My back's loads better, so I'm feeling a bit more cheerfulHad quite a busy week so I'm looking forward to a long weekend with not much to do, lots of fabbing to be done! I got my OU assignment in on time, fingers crossed I did ok.
My class this morning was cancelled, so I had a wander round the shops as I was already in town. I'm debating buying some wide leg trousers as I saw a few pairs today. I mainly wear skirts or dresses atm as I find them easier, but some trousers would be a nice change. Might go and try some on next week.
The weather's frustrating me, as I want to change to lighter clothes but it's been so wet and windy that I've not been able to. The shops are full of nice bright summer things, but the weather still thinks it's winter!
Hope everyone has a great weekend0 -
Morning All
It's wet and cold here this morning so have a free unexpected hour as I'd arranged a run with my friend. Normally I go to Yoga on a Friday but there isn't a class today so I'd planned to join my friend on her speed runs that I usually avoid. We've rearranged for it tomorrow so will maybe do it then.
I've had my usual beginning of the month setting of goals. I read an interesting article recently on will power and decision making. Basically, it suggested that the more decisions we have to make the less good our will power is - so creating a routine that doesn't require a decision to be made because the action is habitual gives you more will power for other decisions. So for instance, knowing I run Mon and Wed, go to Pilates Tues, Circuits Wed and Yoga on a Fri means that I don't need to make any decisions about exercise on those days - I just do it. I don't know whether I've explained well enough but the original article is here. The author of the article calls it decision fatigue. Anyhow, I thought making myself a few more plans or even 'rules' might help in the fabbing journey. A bit like LL's list that begins with always wear perfume.
So here goes for April's goals
Wear perfume daily - I do this anyhow as it is as ingrained as cleaning my teeth.
Every time I put on an outfit have a good look in a full length mirror and if I am unhappy with how it looks take it off and either put in the charity bag or the alteration pile.
Keep hair looking good by regular hair appointments and continuing improving my own styling efforts.
Lose 1.5lbs per week (or more if possible) - My friend and I have set up our own weight loss challenge as she is in training for a 10k at the beginning of June. I know I always do better with a bit of competition so we are both getting weighed at her house after our runs and keeping a record. We've both set a target of 8st 12lbs by June 3rd the day of her run. The good news is we are using her scales which gave me an instant boost as they weigh 4lb lighter than mine! So I have 15lbs to lose in 10 weeks.
Only eat carbs on days I've done cardio exercise. Otherwise stick to a low carb diet.
Don't buy any chocolate all through April. I'm not banning it completely but won't buy myself any but can eat any bought as a gift (in moderation).
Stop baking treats for family. I end up eating most of them anyhow. DS and DDiL always come for Sunday lunch and I usually make cakes or biscuits which I can't resist. So for this month I'm going to not make any and just buy a sweet treat for them once a week that I don't fancy and that will be just enough for that meal and no other.
Have home made soup or salad at lunchtimes.
Anyhow had better stop there as DS has just texted to say DGD is being dropped off at 9am and I'm not dressed yet.
Have a Fab Friday everyone.

I like that Rose Wood. I had to buy a full length mirror as we didn't have one but it really helps to focus me. And, just sometimes, I look better than I think I will.
Maddiemay the gluten thing impacts really quickly for me, eating it or not is really obvious. Helps to keep me on track - pizza equals sore and lethargic so it's not shouldn't eat it, it's can't eat it. I've let too much sugar creep back in so I really need to refocus.'If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need' Marcus Tullius Cicero0 -
I am a poorly person today and don't feel very fab. I have earache and it's making me feel dizzy and hurts
Had to cancel our plans to go to the animal sanctuary today but will be able to go another time.
Rose I love your idea of goals for the month so my goals for April are:
start going to yoga again
get back on the 5:2 eating plan
get hair cut and teeth sorted out
put some more unwanted clothes on Ebay/cs
repair a few items of clothing to see if they are wearableCrazy clothes challenge 2017 - 30/3000 -
Oh poor you Rowan - that's really miserable. Do hope it clears up soon.
I've not posted lately as I've been doing such filthy jobs the only thing I've managed is moisturiser & perfume! Jobs all done now so this morning I've had a lovely bubbly bath, moisture mask on hair, exfoliated face & put mask on & moisturised, body defuzzed & moisturised, feeties trimmed & heels well creamed & then hair blow dried properly, fingernails are non existant at the moment so just neatly trimmed. Feel almost human nowHope to keep the fabbing up to standard now.
Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
Good morning everyone
Rowan - sorry to hear about the earache, that's so painful.
Happy Birthday for tomorrow - hope you feel better by then.
Rose - love the goal setting. I think I'll join you but not for a day or two.
Well not much going on here for Fab Friday - although I did get my hair cut yesterday.
I'm still feeling ghastly.
I've spent the morning at the NHS drop in centre because my cystitis would not respond to OTC remedies and I needed some antibiotics. I ordered some from an online pharmacy on Wednesday and was promised them today. UPS said they could not deliver until Tuesday.....because of the BAnk Holiday. there was no way I could wait until then, because I already have a temperature so a simple UTI could have ended up as a kidney infection by then. Of course no Drs surgeries open for the bank holiday so I had no choice but to go the drop in centre.
It was horrible, I tell you a city centre drop in emergency centre is no place for sick people:eek:. God knows what bugs were flying round that place, waiting for over 2 hours can't be a good idea. It was heaving, babies looking really listless and Ill, toddlers screaming (one obviously had an ear infection) drunks, druggies, crazies, dirt poor immigrants who could barely speak English and had no proper doctor......it was bedlam.
The staff were brilliant though but I sat and watched and listened and despaired. What a state our NHS Is in, buckling under so much pressure.
Then I had to search for a chemists. In the end I went to Sainsbugs which has a pharmacy, I droved past three chemists that were closed.
I know it's Good Friday but come on.......illness doesn't take a holiday.......no wonder A&E depts are reaching breaking point, sometimes it's the only way to get treatment.
Anyway the moral of the story - I will still be receiving my on line order for antibiotics (exactly the same one today's doctor prescribed) so I shall keep those back - just in case - they will have a long date stamp.
from now on I will ensure I always have a packet in the house. I always had to to this with thrush treatments when I used to get thrush regularly but now you can buy them OTC it's not a problem.
I'm not going through this mornings fiasco again, from now on I shall be a good Girl Guide and I will "be prepared":rotfl:
Anyway I'm back in bed so hopefully a little rest and I'll start to pick up when the meds kick in.
Good job I'd nothing planned for the Easter weekend.0 -
Hi all,
Been MIA again, have a quite time consuming OU module on the go atm and trying to keep up with that and general family life is hectic. DS3 and DD2 are revising for exams and though i believe in letting them organise themselves to an extent i still need to keep an eye on proceedings.
LL and Maddie
So sorry to hear about your sad news, ((hugs)) my thoughts are with you both.
But LL how lovely to know you have some good news and something to look forward to. It will be sad as well as happy as my son's was with a parent that has passed away but they had pictures of the sadly missed mum on display and remembered her with the a small card on the table settings. I thought it was a lovely touch emotional but fitting. The wedding will give you something to focus on and will focus your mind fabbing wise -it did me. Take care.
I have had a quick skim through the posts but have not had a thorough read will try and catch up when i have time. Sorry to see some of you have been ill recently and hope you all feel better soon - hopefully we will have some sun soon to help.
I myself have slipped a bit with the fabbing -no real excuse except that i have been so busy. I am now taking steps to get back on the wagon. My skin is dry, itchy and in places has broken out into bleeding spots so am trying to get it under control again.
I have a bit of news of my own i'm to become a granny in the autumn as my son and DIL are having their first baby. It was unexpected and lovely news. Really excited and having to stop myself from getting carried away buying things for the new arrival, though i am putting together a practical hamper full of the things you always get through with a baby. I want to be a helpful granny without being interfering but i will want to take a more active role than my mum or MIL has done with mine. Neither has ever taken them to the cinema, park or anything like that. I intend to be what i think of as a more 'normal' granny.
Anyway I'll love you and leave you -will be back when i can. Take care everyone. xFrump to Fab - Solstice Sizzler

LL - my sympathies - cystitis makes you feel so awful as well as the issues with having a wee. Poor you - hope it improves PDQ. I always make sure I have some OTC stuff when I go on holiday 'cos I've been caught too. Why do these things always seem to crop up at a weekend or over a bank holiday - sod's law!
Big hugs for all you poorlies - get well soonSmall victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
Rose I think I've sort of stumbled across the Primal Blueprint food idea by accident. I was trying to cut the carbs with the intention of reducing the sugars and yeasts that I thought the cystitis bugs might have been feeding on a couple of weeks ago. I couldn't get any antbiotics from the Drs as it took over a week to have the samples tested and by then the cystitis had cleared up with a bit of help from OTC powders and paracetamol. The bonus was that I lost 4 lbs in my first week. I'm trying to keep to it, but today I fell off the wagon and ate a cupcake with butter icing on top
I fell asleep shortly afterwards for about 45 mins, so I think it must have played havoc with my sugar levels/ insulin etc. I am determined not to become diabetic or even pre-diabetic, so I'm looking at ways of preventing it.
However, I need to make a note to myself that I need to stop playing on the 'puter late at night, and get some sleep!!!!
