    Hello Fab Friday :j

Rose, I hope you are ok after your coffee incident and hope you enjoyed the prawns (every cloud...)

LL hope you soon feel a bit better.

VJsmum - I've just watched that video and I have been doing the wrong thing with my Touch Éclat look alikeee. I'm going to have a go how the video instructs.

I returned from my friends with my nails gelled in a lovely plummy purple (hands and feet). I was going for the light pink colour but the young beautician said it was a bit 'safe' so I chose witchy wisteria,
and I love it. Today I will be doing lots of pointing at things so my nails get noticed :rotfl:

What are you doing for Fab Friday gorgeous ones?

Unfortunately I threw away my fake Touche Éclat as it had gone a bit gungy. Is it something Aldi do regularly or just one of their specials? I must investigate.

So sorry to hear of your mishap with the coffee rose. Good plan to sort out healthy eating when you're on your own. Comfort eating is definitely a danger area to avoid.

I'm going to join in Fab Friday but it will be incremental. Friday is almost always a 'smart casual' day for me. So far I've dressed in dark denims and a red/orange Fat Face jumper. The colour always gives my skin a lift. I'll do make up later then off to have cut/blow dry. It just needs a tidy up really but I'm risking a different stylist. My regular guy is away and won't be back before Easter and I know if I hang on it will get very scruffy. It's the same salon but a relative junior, I'm sure she won't do much wrong.:)

Bright and sunny here today so that helps upbeat mood.

    Good Morning :)

I have been missing for a while however I would love to come back and join you all again on the fabbing journey.

LL I am so sorry to hear of your loss. It did make me smile though to hear your lovely news about your son getting married, what an exciting time awaits you all.

Hugs and high fives to everyone, I am sorry I am not answering individually however I will endeavour to do that from now on.

I have maintaining a degree of fabulousness however there are a few habits that have slipped away over the last few weeks that I am determined to re-establish. So over the next few weeks I need to get myself summer ready!

Also had a mini meltdown when clothes shopping so instead of moaning about it and feeling sorry for myself I am meal planning and getting my bike repaired this weekend and have set myself some goals weight wise that I want to achieve before my holiday. They are realistic and I am determined to change my life for the better.

I look forward to catching up with you all properly soon.

    Good morning everyone

Glad to see the stragglers back.:rotfl::rotfl:

Well done those keeping up with Fab Friday.

I have never felt less Fab in all my life. Still feeling really awful, it's got to be the flu because it's over a week now. I just don't feel like doing anything, so I wont:rotfl:

Thanks for the video link. I like Goss, his make up and skin care videos are great. I might watch some more later and get some new ideas.

Maman - you asked about Imedeen. I use to use it years ago when I was struggling through thE peri-menopause. I used Time Perfection and was Very happy with the results.

This time as I'm over 60 I have gone for The Renewal range. It costs more but I bought a six month supply when it was on offer at boots, did it online through Quidco so the price wasnt quite so scary.

You do need to give it a good 3 or 4 months before you see any real effects.

My skin is absolutely dreadful, sore itchy and tender to the touch. I can hardly bear to touch myself and my scalp feels so tender I don't want to comb my hair. It's just the illness it will be fine.

I am seriously dehydrated due to running a high temperature so in addition to trying to drink lots more water I gave myself a bit of a spa day yesterday using some natural products that I picked up from Costco. They contain sea kelp and were very soothing. My skin just drank up the body lotion.

My face looks dreadful, so pale and very sore and itchy so I have just ordered a small Dermalogica ultra calming rescue kit from Amazon.

I do feel like I'm going for the nuclear option, and just throwing money at the problem. However, once things are back under control then I am aiming to start making my own products again, that way I can use high quality ingredients for my own concoctions and still save a bit of money.

I've booked a hair appt for Thursday. Am going for a pixie cut again, a la Judi Dench. I asked my sister and a couple of friends and they all said they preferred that style on me rather than my current bob.the only problem is it will need more regular visits to the salon so I'm thinking of going without a colour to keep costs down. It's pretty white now so I'll get It cut and then see how I like it.

I e not weighed myself but I have tried to eat reasonably healthily whilst I've been ill. I've done no exercise - just crawling out of bed and cooking the meals is about all I can manage at present. The house is looking a bit neglected but it will just have to do.

My poor sister has been left to finish mums funeral arrangements but I'm hoping to give a hand next week. We've got a fortnight yet.

Clocks go forward this weekend, so nice light evenings at last.

Summer is just round the corner......;)

I hope you're better soon LL, just drink a lot of water, take multi vitamins (I believe Vit E is good for skin too) and if your skin doesn't want to be touched leave it alone. If you could stand to do it, coconut oil or similar in a spray bottle misted over your face could be a gentle pick me up.

I am WFH today with a later start so I had time to put on a scalp treatment in the shower, as my scalp has felt a bit grungy recently. It's a Paul Mitchell one from my hairdresser, has tea tree and lavender in it. Makes my head feel much better!

I am not wearing any makeup (will save that for tomorrow) and my skin is quite dry so just moisturised and put my perfume on. Let my hair dry naturally but I have painted my left fingernails - got to do the right ones now. :rotfl:
  • Sorry to read of your loss LL. Hope you feel better soon. My sister and I caught every bug going after we lost Mum. Lovely news about your son though. Sounds nasty with the coffee Rose. Hope it's okay now. I've finally cleared my Mum's house months after losing her. Hoping to rent it out in future. My son putting some money into buying out my sister's share so hopefully he may live there one day.

Rose - meant to say hope you are okay after the coffee incident.

VNS - yes several people have mentioned that I would be more susceptible to bugs. This is the second in a month (either that or it's the same one coming back for a second go).

I just think my body has said "enough". I think mums death coming so soon after OHs death is the real problem. I suppose Two deaths in 7 months is a lot to deal with.

    Hey ho.

But at least Weve got something nice to look forward to. And 14 months to shape up. :rotfl: I'm going to need that long.;).

Sounds like a good long term plan with your son buying your dusters share of your mums house.

Got all fabbed up yesterday to join my mother, cousins and my siblings to say goodbye to my dear uncle. The sun shone for him all day and the birds sang in the country churchyard where he is now at rest with my aunt. The vicar described him as a gentleman, a countryman and a family man, said it all:D My brothers, OH and nephew all looked so smart in their suits, made me feel very proud as not their normal daily attire, Ma, my little sis and I looked pretty great too.

Feel so drained today, but nothing urgent that needs doing so will chill out and perhaps do a little Kondoing for a bit of a mental boost.

    Have a good weekend everyone:D

Glad the funeral went well. It sounds like a gentle peaceful day and it's nice that you all did him proud and gave him a good send off.

It's my mums funeral on 13th April, we've got the basics in place so it's just fine tweaking now, with the music, flowers etc.

We have chosen a very nice hotel and have gone for what I'm hoping will be a nice afternoon tea, served on vintage China, in a very pretty room all decked out in white and gold shabby chic syle. Mum would have loved it. As you know she wasn' T English, but afternoon tea was
One English custom that she loved and had adopted.

We couldn't book Chatsworth or her favourite Hardwick Hall - they are too far away - but we've chosen something which I think would have met with her approval. :rotfl:

I'm struggling to write a eulogy, I'm not sure what to do, because the more I think about it the more I know I won't be able to deliver one. I might write something and get DS1. to read it for me.

Well the good news - I feel so much better today. Not "better" but certainly better than I did.

Without being a drama queen I can truthfully say I have never felt so ill in all my life, but as always ive learned something from the experience.

It's that I shall be 64 soon, I need to start taking care of myself and I need to start living again........from now on I'm going to make my time count.

I've spent the best part of the last 10 years caring for my husband and my mum, it's my turn now. I need to build a life, I need to look forwards.

The wedding Will be my kickstart......

I'm going to indulge in some serious fabbing today, a sort of mini spa day.......de fuzzing, face mask, eyebrows, deep moisturising.

    Operation MOTBG begins......:rotfl:

A bit of tidying up, feed the washing machine and a stroll down to the little shop. That will be enough for today.

Morning everyone! Hugs to those that need them x

I'm not feeling very fab, I spent Tuesday diging up and transplating some bushes and by the end I couldn't stand up, back's still bad today :( I've hardly been able to move, so fabbing has been very basic! Fortunately, the freezer is stocked with hm ready meals, so DH has been able to reheat them for us.
The weather's miserable, I ache and I've got an OU assignment due this week, so that's my weekend!
On the plus side, I've applied to do some volunteering and I heard yesterday that my application has been submitted along with a rather nice reccommendation from someone. I'm not very good with people and generally assume thay don't like me / think much of me at all, so it was nice to hear that he'd gone out of his way to make a personal reccomendation, as it's not something he usually does. Of course now I'm worried that I won't be good enough and will let everyone down :(

I'm going to attempt to have a bath, fingers crossed I don't get stuck!
Have a good weekend everyone x
