My wife ticks some of those boxes, not all.

But I notice the most important trait is missing - someone who is accepting of me for me. That's far more important than cooking and cleaning. I can do that sh#t myself (though I pay someone to do the cleaning because it's bloody boring). What I needed, and what I have, is a woman who accepts my eccentricities, makes time to spend time with me and tolerates my moans with a smile about the eye-rolling incompetence of my co-workers.
  • Tropez, I would say I tick as many boxes as my husband does. :D
Proud to have lost over 3 stone (45 pounds,) in the past year! :j Now a size 14!

    You're not singing anymore........ You're not singing any-more! :D
  • I was reading the blog a man that claims to "teach men how to get the woman they want".

Just throwing this out there, but could it be that this man doesn't actually speak for all men?

I was once sat in the sauna at my gym. There were two other women in it. One was saying how her best friends' husband had lost his job. The other one said "well get him out of the house then, I wouldn't have a man in my house with no job". The other lady was quite shocked and embarrassed saying how they were happily married and he had been sadly made redundant. Her friend remained adamant that no job meant you had to be kicked out. I couldn't believe my ears.
  • Still nothing valuable that a woman gains from marriage in 2014........

In 2014 what do women gain from marriage ?

Companionship, love, security, someone to share my hopes and fears with, someone to laugh with, someone to do the jobs I can't do :D (And I do things for him in return. :p )

Also, things are easier/better financially when there are two of us. :)

    Just speaking for myself. :)

Some may feel they get that from a relationship that does not involve marriage.

That is awful. Yes you could understand some women maybe wanting a man who isn't permanently on the dole, but to say they would bin a man if he lost his job is ridiculous!

Well since your argument is that women seem to spend all their time working - both at an office and at home, I'll counter and say my wife has her own business so she does work from her office out of the house but she does very little housework.

    We have a cleaner.

    I do the cooking.

    She's not DIY inclined.

I take care of all "technology" tasks.

Come to think of it, she barely needs to lift a finger when she's at home.

Not exactly a "gain" from marriage though, more a practical solution to issues encountered so that both of our free time is more relaxed.
