Using up oranges

Hi funkymonkey,
There are some good ideas on this thread so I've added it to the main thread on using up oranges to keep the replies together.

I'm making an orange wine and have had 12 oranges, sliced, soaking in a bucket of water for the last 5 days.
I need to strain the liquid this evening but it seems a shame to just throw the bits of orange away.
Is there anything I can do with the slices? I was thinking a cake or muffins but not sure if you can have bits of oranges in cakes???
Thanks for any advice or ideas.Bon App's Scraps!MFb40 # 130 -

Grate the zest of one or two into a sponge cake, and use the juice in a water icing
Take a look at this older thread on oranges. I'll merge this later.

Not sure that oranges that have been soaking for 5 days will be apetising
But if they are take a look at this thread on oranges. One of us will merge this later.

Does anyone know anything i can make with oranges please? i have 11 organic oranges from my veg box. As much as i would eat them on there own, it gets a bit boring after a wile so i was thinking of turning them onto a desert. If i leave them in the fruit bowl the kids wont touch them, if i turn them into a desert they will. I just can't think of what to do with them.0

you can slice them and caramelise them - have a google
you can peel, pith and slice them into rounds and steep in syrup (adding kirsch is good but maybe not for kids!)
chop them up and put in muffin recipe, serve with custard for a pudding0 -
I didnt realise you could put them in muffins.
Thank you ubamother.
I'l google arround aswell.0
