Buy your bananas in bunches of 5 on Sunday. Then arrange them in order of ripeness and write a day of the week on each banana in felt pen, Monday on the ripest, Friday on the greenest to save time making those decisions on a hectic weekday morning

Don't worry, Ruthibe! The search facility is useful but I'm happy to help!

    Hi all

I have a bunch (6) oranges that have seen better days, any idea what I can do with them?

Unfortunately, I don't have a blender or juice extractor to make orange juice.

    Thanks in advance

I've used past their best oranges in a pork and cider casserole - fry the pork (cut into cubes) with an onion. Add some cider and ('hand squeezed' use a sharp knife as bits in it are fine too!) orange juice. Drop a bit of peel in too (fish out before eating). Add some sliced mushrooms and thicken with cornflour when it's all cooked. Serve with rice.

I made a crumble with a few oranges and wrinkly apples that had been ignored in the fruit bowl.....it was really lovely and DH wants me to make another one. I'm still learning this OS cookery stuff so haven't got into the routine of baking but I have ambition....

The lemon drizzle cake (recipe on here somewhere) works equally as good with oranges, managed to get enough juice out of 4 wrinkled oranges last week ;) choc and orange muffins are good too.

You could make some Microwave orange curd, just swap the lemons with oranges!

Is it possible to freeze orange or lemon curd? I wouldn't want to get through 1llb of curd in two weeks - I'd be the size of a house!!

Nigella Lawson has a recipe for orange ice cream which i've made a few times and is fab. But I think that only uses up a couple of oranges.
