£1088.91 transferred to CC this morning. Was saving it for a rainy day and today it's pouring down, so off it goes! ;)

    New total #85 £18,621.58/£25,000 = 74.4%
  • It's been a long time since I've been on here. Unfortunately my debt has risen to £3330.07! #151.

However, today I have decided that we need to be debt-free by Christmas, no excuses. I've updated my snowball calculator and played with our budget. It's going to take some creative food shopping and a complete lack of treats but we will do it!
HSBC Credit Card £608.69, HSBC Overdraft: £4123.67, HSBC Loan: £8,270.69
Lloyds Credit Card: £1418.62, Very Account: £518.99, Barclaycard: £126
Total Debt as of 9th June 2020: £15066.66
  • Another day, another payment!

Loan 1 of £307.41 came out on Friday so that brings my total to

    £1,235.96

It feels great to get over that £1,000 barrier.

    Well done so far everyone.

Hello everyone. Another payment done and dusted :j

My Car Loan came out the other day so that's another £154.03 added to the total and nearer my goal. My new total is

    £1,389.99

Which is over 25% so i'm getting there slowly.

This is a great thread as I want to overpay everything and get the figure up as quick as possible.

    Lets keep this going.

Hello! I'd like to join please. I have £3,757 to pay off and clearing that before Christmas would be lovely. It's a tiny bit of a stretch, but if I really push for it I could do it.

Yesterday I applied for a balance transfer card, so £1,900 is that is about to go 0% for 9 months. Still want to pay it off before Christmas, but without the hindrance of interest. And the best bit is I'll get £25 cash back for opening the account.

First off, apologies for not updating as much as I intended. It's been a bit of a struggle this summer, and I've not been in a great place for the last few months. Feeling a fair bit better these last few days (despite my hayfever giving me sleepless, snotty nights!) so hopefully I'll be a better host

So, time to catch up! Three newbies, your numbers are assigned below, and I'll shortly be updating the front page list, have a look and make sure I have your totals right.

Everyone else... some fantastic payments already this month! Thanks in particular to a couple of members making huge payments (you know who you are!) we've already well surpassed last month's total, and are well on the way to matching last year's July total too. Keep it up, everyone!
Hi everyone, is it too late to join the party?

I have credit card whose 0% period ends on 21st of December this year, perfect timing for Christmas! Usually I would just balance transfer but I'm determined not to pay any more fees.

The current balance is £4293.17 with 165 days to pay it off, so approx £26.02 per day.

As I'm not incurring any interest currently on this CC, my thoughts are to sweep cash into a spare savings account and then pay it over to the CC close to the end, earning a tiny bit of interest in the savings account, and just make my usual min monthly payments by DD.

If you don't mind me being a late comer, let me know my number and I will get updating

Hi Amy, sorry for the delay. You're number 180 (try saying that without doing it in a darts commentator voice!). I'm an engineer too, so you're definitely welcome along
Hi - is there anyway that I can join the challenge?

I have a loan that I borrowed off my dad many years ago that I really want to have paid up by end of the year.

I already pay him a large amount of money each month but I am hoping to make as many extra payments as possible.

The total amount I owe him as of today is £8,518.98 . I do pay him interest so by paying extra I am hoping to knock approx. 9 months off.....

    Thanks for letting me join

Hi there, welcome to the thread, and well done for making the decision to get rid as soon as possible. You're number 181 :T
Hey guys!! Sorry its been so long!!
RIGHT - i have managed to secure some extra evening work so the extra pennies are going straight onto my CC as additional payments. I am determined to get a chunk of this paid by xmas, even if it is not the full balance. It has now been about 6 months since my last CC app for 0pc bal trans was denied due to poor credit. I checked with experian and a missed payment had been logged so hopefully by now my score will have improved sufficiently. If i can manage to get one even if its only for part of my current CC balance, it would help so much to make a dent in the balance. The alternative is a loan but the best one was with HSBC and i currently have a payment agreement with them to pay back my old bank accounts OD, so i dont think they would accept an application from me.

    Any thoughts on this?

These are my ONLY TWO DEBTS LEFT!!! I so want to start 2016 better off! As it stands i predict by Jan i will have paid off my old OD debt of £800, and hopefully reduced my £8000 CC down to £6000......

    fingers crossed......

Hey cutiepie! I don't know whether you've already made a decision on what to do, but I can't really offer much more I'm afraid. Late payments can make it difficult, but if it's only one then it might not be the end of the world. Let us know how you get on.

As for me, I've been doing a bit of eBaying and saving, and have bitten the bullet and sent a couple of grand towards my First Direct loan account. That makes nearly £7,500 of overpayments since the start of the year, which makes me quite proud.

In combination with my Student Loan and routine loan payment which both came out today, that takes my total debt below £10k for the first time since my second year at uni, over a decade ago. It actually makes me a bit emotional (how sad am I!). What a waste of time this last 10 years has been financially, but I'm glad to be finally sorting it.

    So, new total is...

    #41 £11,477.82/£15,000.00 76.5%

Hey Pablosammy. Sorry you've been in a bad place recently but I wanted to say thanks for running this thread and a HUGE well done on getting your debts sub-£10k!!!! I don't think it makes you sad at all to be emotional, it's a big achievement!
    Debt as at 5 June 2023 - £15,600.89
    Current debt - £5,555.00
Total paid off - £10,045.89 (64% paid off)
