    Hello :j

I would like to join this year's challenge please. I won't be debt free by this Christmas but I have been through the figures today and I know where I need to be by the end of 2015.

    Total Debt: £21,035.96
    Ford Finance: £8,043.80
    Very: £243.96
    Capital One Credit Card: £972.17
    Vanquis Credit Card: £2,000
    Halifax Credit Card: £2,056.05
    Barclay Card Credit Card: £7,719.98

So my target for the end of the year. My final payment on my car is due in October and I will be paying this off in full. The Very account will be clear by November. The other debts using the snowallball method will be clear July 2017 but I will be aiming to clear all my debts as soon as possible. I need to focus and be accountable.

    Thank you! :)

Hi Kerry! The snowball method is great, once that thing is rolling it can really pick up speed :j Good luck, you're number #164.

    Morning all.

I wonder if I could join your crew? I have some debt I need to shift, hopefully by September, but definitely by Christmas.

The total amount is £2461.30. I am hoping a thread like this will keep me motivated enough to make it disappear :D

Sounds like this is the challenge for you then! Welcome and good luck, you're number #165.
    #156 checking in.

No payments since my last update. However, I have started getting really fed up with my debt, its really been getting me down these last few days as it feels Im going nowhere. My other half has noticed my mood changes and after we talked, a lot, she is going to lend me the £6k I need to get out of debt (well, with companies that charge interest anyway) and only owe her money. She has said I can pay it off at £750 a month so it leaves me on track and not worrying about interest payments. I told her I wanted to pay something because as good as it feels to be able to be "debt free" I feel awful taking the money off her, so she agreed I pay her gym fees (£38 a month) which is far far far less than any other loan!

I will update my signature to reflect the changes once it all goes through and wont count the payments to my 2 remaining debts in the monthly total as I still have the debt. But I feel rather upbeat for the first time in a long time.

Hi PP. Sorry to hear things haven't been going so smoothly. I've had something very similar in the last few weeks, and my OH has really noticed it too. It's scary how perceptive they can be some times! :rotfl: That's really good of her to help you out - I don't normally like family loans, but it does help you pay it off more quickly, and she gets a happy partner at the end. Keep the chin up :T

Hi Nicing, congrats on the payments so far. I'll include them in your totals to date. You're number #167.
Hi guys, hope you're all keeping well. I thought I'd swing by to see how you're all doing, glad to see some good debt payments!

I am in the process of trying to bring life back to some form of routine and swinging between thinking "I must get life together again" and thinking "what difference will it make anyway". I have managed to keep on top of my finances, but not as well as I would have, although I know it's not the most important thing for us right now. However, I know I am still ahead of target, and hope to get my head back around my balances and spreadsheet soon.

I mostly popped up after spotting a few people mentioning quidco - a few years ago, I found out quidco have a toolbar you can install so it notifies you when you are on a site that offers cash back. It is very useful, although I personally prefer topcashback, as they offer a slightly better rate for the places I shop, and I found the toolbar interfered with tcb tracking (even though I wasn't requesting cash back through quidco either).

MC! Nice to hear from you - cheers for the tips, I'll have to have a look at that toolbar. Congrats for staying on target too!

Well done everybody so far this month! I know you all love statistics, so we're 43% of the way through the month, and we're 67% of the way to last year's total... I'd say that means we're on target!

That's due in no small part to Magsnoodle, who single-handedly paid off 32% of that total - congrats, must be nice to have cleared that loan :)

Keep going! We're over a quarter of the way through the year, and it's flying by.

  • Only my first month here, but payday is just around the corner and I've just made my final payments until then. In the last 4 weeks, I've managed to clear 11.6% of my target for the year. So happy.
