Evening all :D Hugs to those who are feeling a bit low. It does pass eventually, at least you're in the right place! :D

Haven't paid anything off but thought I'd nip on here to see how things are going. I'm not sure I have a costly hobby but I do work in a school and so there is always something fab to buy to help the children learn...oops! ;):o

DD found out which secondary school she has a place at. She got her first choice and we are all really pleased. Although her best friends are going to a different school and at the moment we aren't sure if anyone from her year is going to the same school as her. So she is really excited but the reality of 'friendship changes' hit her hard today. Poor little thing. I'm sure she'll be fine though and the school is perfect for her so I know she'll do well and really enjoy her time at secondary school. :smileyhea

Slightly debt related is the fact that she'll have to get the train to go to school each day. Although it's only two short stops from where we live it will cost around £50 for a monthly season ticket!!
Saving for Disney again, oops why book one Disney holiday when you can book two!

  • It must be a night for it as I feel really de-motivated about things. I managed to clear two debts quite quickly due to one offs so I know the next two are going to take much longer (I don't have a great deal of patience!) I've also looked at my monthly budget and the only thing I can really cut down on is food budget and I just don't seem to be able to get under 80 per week. I'm not a fantastic cook and due to work hours don't have a lot of time or energy to prepare a great deal in the evening.
Oh yeah, and the dishwasher has died today.

Well its silly o'clock and I'm still awake  My pain meds seems to be having the opposite effect now (back injury last week at Zumba- had been knocking me out most night, now wide awake!)

Anyhow- I had a major panic attack earlier, logged on to our joint account to see that the DD for our new 0% CC had not been taken, - failure to pay on time would revert the card to 18.9%:eek:- Most of our debt is on that one card now, so it would have been a huge knock back. In my panic I did a faster payment via online banking.... roll on a few hours later and the DD then was shown as paid :/ so I've made an over payment of £100

Just got the bill in from the solicitors, as expected extras were on it (so much for a fully inclusive quote eh) £506 outstanding to be paid before we complete- payment made no later than 13.03.2015. Hubby working overtime tonight to contribute his half -silly man had not saved anything, hes been spending on stupid bike parts for a bike he cant ride- i keep telling him you can only ride one bike at a time - he keeps telling me its an "investment" that will earn him double his money back... hmm we will see :rotfl::rotfl:

Signature updated, Total now paid off is £2502/£10,562 23.7% ish.

Definitely a low day for me too, been up all last night vomiting 😔 looked after a friends little one over the weekend as she was poorly with a long term health issue. She forgot to tell me until I had been there an hour that little one had had an awful sickness bug - lo and behold I've now got it and have had to take the day off work, not great :( no good deed goes unpunished, eh?! :rotfl:
On the plus side, my debt target has reached 35% as the car payment has gone. Running total in signature #037
    Baby due 21/06/2017 :)

How long after making a final payment does your account officially go closed on credit reports?

I'm also wondering if I should cancel the DDs for it and my car insurance too just in case...?

Unfortunately for me I managed to overpay twice by mistake, so I actually did BETTER in February than I expected. No doubt it'll bite me on the bum in a few weeks when an unexpected bill crops up and I don't have any money in the bank account and have to resort to the CC...

I do this all the time :rotfl:

Chin up, people! :) Roll with the punches and keep your eyes on the prize.

Just had to get some scuba kit which I hadn't budgeted for - unfortunately I can't carry on with my training unless I get it. Felt the familiar short-term high, followed by the even more familiar post-purchase guilt. However, I think if I gave up my hobby at the moment, I'd wonder what the point of it all was!

Has anybody got any interesting guilty pleasures or hobbies which keep them amused?

I run which is quite cheap but I do need some new shoes which will cost about £80 from the specialist shop with gait analysis, worth every penny though. I'm going to enter a few races in the autumn too which will be £20-£40 a time

Just checked my account as I had a bad feeling I'd done the same and yes both credit cards late payment charge - absolute sh**ter! :( One is Halifax's 0% card so now going to have to see if I've screwed up the interest rate. Definitely need to get to the new house this Friday to see if HMRC have posted my UTR - then I can FINALLY get my payment from MCR Uni that'll wipe these cards out!

Seems like my low-day is going to be today. I feel like I'm in such a hole with no sign of light to aid me clambering out! The wages just never stretch and I had an unsuccessful interview last week for a 2nd part-time job, with no reply from another application.

Definitely feeling it today - sorry for the downer folks. :(
