:eek:Just graduated myself to the big thread!!
Not sure how that happened so quickly!Still here..... but working on that!0 -
Bye bye Dragon. See you on the big girl thread in 2weeks.0

We are definitely team purple! Boy was measuring perfectly, but girl was refusing to move so they could do all the relevant checks/measurements, so i have to go back again in a few days!
As it is twins, I will then be scanned every 4 weeks to check for growth.
Feeling almost ready to buy things!!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
Finally managed to get a date for my 20wk scan, on the 30th Sept at 17:30! So have to take my 2 year old with to the scan as nursery closes at 6 and there is no way I'd get back to fetch her in time. Apparently this is the only appt they can offer due to when I'll be away to ensure they can do the checks they need to. Here's hoping my 2 year old is having a good day and baby is being cooperative.
I still don't have a date for the consultant appt I'm due to have at the same time... I spoke to the reception who book appts whilst at my 12wk scan and have phoned for the past two weeks to chase this up as am away the week I am actually 20 weeks (booked well over a year ago). I gave them the dates I am away at the 12 week scan and saw them write it on my booking request the midwife had sent. Definitely less than impressed with the scanning dept this time round!
I just find this kind of thing so frustrating.0 -
Couple of questions about finances if anyone knows....
If I'm earning under 10k maternity, can my husband use my excess tax allowance? Can this be retrospective or do I need to request from HMRC in advance?
Doesn't look like I'll meet the £112 per week earnings in the 2 months pay prior to my qualifying week to qualify for SMP however on average last year and up until now from the start of the tax year I will be slightly over. Do I have a case to fight this? Is it at the employers descretion? Thanks!0 -
Pinkshoes you have the best of both worlds. Aww that's so exciting you'll get to see them so often!
Saffagal hope your 2yr old settles enough for you to enjoy your scan.
The scan I had at first was in a different hospital that my second. The staff in the second were so much nicer and the equipment was a lot better with the screen above my head instead of cranking my neck to the side.0 -
One of each pink shoes, lovely, not that it wouldn't have been lovely with two of the same!
Sweetielemon - I don't think there is any discretion with Mat pay - it's government run, I think if in the qualifying weeks you don't hit the amount you would only get Mat allowance. There is a calculator on the .gov website where they ask about your pay and stuff and tell you what you are likely to get, maybe try that?
We have a kitchen! No hob yet and still loads to do but I have a sink, and cupboards with doors on so I can start moving things out the lounge and cook something which isn't a microwave meal!
And my boobs have gone up another cup size (as someone who is perpetually flat chested this is incredibly exciting!).0 -
Morning all, hope you had nice weekends? We had a nice one, though we're all suffering with one of the killer colds DD picks up at nursery. We went to view a house this morning, fingers crossed we get it as it's really nice and much closer to my work so when I take DD to nursery while on ML it will be a 40 min round trip as opposed to 1hr20ish. We don't actually live that far away but I have to drive across the town centre and the traffic is dreadful at rush hour.

I'm trying to avoid anyone with a cold at the moment. OH seems to be working in a germ filled office so is trying to avoid getting to near to everyone, he has been warned not to bring germs home, haha.
Feeling a bit emotional and tired at the moment (also can't stop weeing which I thought would let up a bit at 16weeks?!)
My work colleague is only 10 weeks pregnant and already has loads of stuff and built the cot this weekend, so I'm already feeling like the worlds worst mother as we haven't got anything yet! Bought a baby grow, and my brother is donating us a moses crib and cot - otherwise I've just been reading up on stuff. We are going away the first week in October (will be 20 weeks then) so in my head I want our holiday first, then I will start thinking about getting ready for the baby. Is this normal, or am I being way to suspicious about doing things?!0 -
I don't think we had anything ready before 20 weeks TamVilla, we'd bought the odd item of clothing, and our cloth nappies as we got 20% off in Real Nappy Week, and we'd ordered our travel system, but it wasn't delivered until October. We did decorate the nursery when I was about 5-6 months, but only because it was the summer and we wanted to be able to leave windows open for fumes, and get it done before I got too big. I think your work friend is being a bit premature, it will all just get dusty and need cleaning before the baby arrives
Plus she'll have nothing to do in the nesting phase at the end (although I sadly never got any urge to clean things!).
