Welcome littlemoog. Nice to see you here. Glad the scan went well and you are feeling better.

I'm doing well with the money saving - got Cot, crib, pram, moses basket, baby bath, bouncer chair, car seat, base, half my nappies, 2 changing mats, bouncer chair and clothes for under £450! Would have cost nearly £1550 if I had bought it all new.

I got the car seat and car seat base from babies r us. Due to a glitch in the system (it must be glitch) both the base and car seat were £6.94!! Unless I've bought a dolls one...:rotfl:

No, I literally just went on the website, sorted car seats in price order and saw the carseat base, clicked on it and put it in my basket, searched for the car seat, it £69.99, then once in my basket was £6.94 again! The car seat is now off the site and the base is not available for delivery. Its a chicco keyfit one - 9.5 out of 10 for safety and reviews. It's a belted base, which we need as we don't have isofix.
  • Rambosmum how fab do love it when someone gets a good bargain like that...im sure it wont bankrupt the store and their massive profits

i have a pram and a cot, only because they were both such fab deals (Second hand) got a bugaboo ....its immaculate the wheels still have the spikey bits on them lol...so i am very chiffed...also bought a snuz pod cot - instead of a moses it fits against the bed so can be used with night feeds and also has a see through mesh panel... will need to buy a new mattress but thats not a problem. gonna wait now till after 20 weeks before buying anything else as will only have to move it to new house

Wow, bargainous Rambosmum! We got our carseat and base last time from Boots as they had an offer and you get 10 points per £ if you're in their baby club, so we got £40 of points back and used them to buy our baby monitors. They also do prams/travel systems and furniture, so worth looking at for any big purchases.
We don't really need to buy much, I want a cosleeper crib and some newborn washables as our birth to potty ones didn't fit DD very well until about 10 weeks. I saw on FB that Little Lambs are having a sale soon, so will be watching out for that. I think we're going to get a buggy board for our Uppababy rather than a double pushchair, as DD will be nearly 3.5 by the time baby comes and I'm planning to use my carrier and wrap with little one at first.

Otherwise I just need to round up all my baby stuff from sisters houses as it's mostly been lent out to various new arrivals! If baby is a girl we have all the clothes you could ever need, but if it's a boy I'll have to sell all the things we're storing and buy new clothes. Newborn stuff is all neutral though, so no rush :)

  • I'm getting so confused about the whole pram / pushchair / travel system thing, too much choice and so many options. Keep looking and can't decide so just wonder off and look at something easier!

TamVilla, when we were expecting our DD we shortlisted a few travel systems and then went to the Baby Show at the NEC to compare lots in the same place (no one shop sold them all) which was really helpful. We ended up going for one we'd not even considered (Uppababy Vista) as it was so much better than everything else we looked at. Still love it now, and it's in great condition 2.5 years later. If you live near enough Kiddicare at Peterborough has a huge showroom.

Welcome Littlemoog!! Nice to see you!!
I think I like the joolz day pram. It is confusing though. What a bargin Rambosmum! Well done. I've still to check out babies r us, so many places still to explore!
  • Hi Littlemoog. Lovely to see you over here.

We bought the Silver Cross wayfarer as they had a deal where the car seat is free. We liked this one anyway, so the free seat really swung it.

Loving the bargains rambosmum. I have made my list now so I just need to start chipping away at it. A lot of it rests on when we can get the nursery cleared and decorated so we have somewhere to put everything so the cat doesn't sleep on it.

I was going to get a moses basket and then use the cot bed, but had a look at the snuzz pod and it looks brill, if not a bit pricey. Might try to convince OH to have a look. How heavy is the detachable crib bit? Is it easy enough to move up and down stairs? That's my only concern really.

Keep looking at newborn stuff and whilst I have found some nice unisex coloured bits and bobs, the majority seem to be cream/brown and grey combos with white. I like this look but not for everything. Might get the minimum then do a bigger shop when we know what baby is.

Anyone thinking of names yet. We keep sort of looking, nothing serious and every name we read we dont like. Baby's nickname is peanut so might just have to call it that if its a boy and January if its a girl!
  • Hello little moog!

We've started making a list but not actually bought anything yet - although I have put together a spreadsheet of 3-wheeler pushchairs :o We go to a lot of steam rallies and things-in-fields so we need something fairly tough.

We've already got our names as well - but for the moment, little one is called Findus (as it was an embryo that was frozen for a year...)

Anyone thinking of going to the Baby Show at Olympia in October? I'm trying to say to DH that it would be a perfect way to have a mini babymoon at the same time but so far, he's not convinced :p
