Welcome pootle! I have a friend born on the 29th. She hates it!
  • Well if the bub does decide to pop out then, we won't be able to do a lot about it - don't think I could hold it in that long, haha

Survived my first few days back at school, and the kids were lovely. The lower years just gave me funny looks and probably thought I had just eaten a lot over the holidays, but my GCSE classes worked it out straight away, and were surprisingly upset that I would be leaving! I was quite touched by their concerns!

Feel rather tired, but it wasnt too bad going back. My bump is getting bigger and I feel quite stretched.

Need to sort out getting my matb1 form but I won't see the midwife until 28 weeks. Can I just ask the consultant or hopsital when I see them in just over a week?
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

Aww that's sweet pink shoes. I work in a school too(primary), not that noticeable yet but because some of the parents know the rumour has got around. Most have been too scared to mention it but have said to the parents, meaning some sheepishly asking around about questions to my OH. Quite amusing.

I was hoping not to have to leave the mat 1 form for so long would like to organise things but guess I will have to wait. Feel like I'm continually asking for time off for class/appointments. I've only been off sick once for a week in years so not feeling too guilty.
  • Missing you lot over on the lonely pregnancy thread... No one has said hello, and feels a bit of an anticlimax :rotfl:

    Hope everyone's ok x

that's rubbish diamond orchid. Some of us will be over there soon though. 3 more weeks for me. 21 weeks today.

Having a slight panic about how little we've got ready, not helped by the lack of kitchen and mess that is just the whole house though! We were hoping it would be done by now.
  • Hi ladies :)

Welcome to those who've moved up, and sorry to hear that it is quiet on the next thread Diamond Orchid, though you're always welcome to pop in here until some more of us move up.

Rambosmum, in essence, all that you really need to have for baby to arrive is somewhere for baby to sleep (somewhere safe to put baby down), some clothes to dress baby in, nappies and a car seat.

They don't usually give you a matb1 until at least 20 weeks. You also only get given one copy so you need to ensure that you keep it safe. You can still have discussions regarding when you want to start your leave etc before you hand it in though in my experience, HR/Payroll were unwilling to even look at my mat pay entitlement until I had handed it in. If you're not seeing you midwife until later on, you can usually arrange to collect it from their reception as it has to be handed in to work by 25weeks.

I phoned up the scan dept yesterday as am 16 weeks but still awaiting my 20 week scan date. I also have to see the consultant at the same appt (for 2 separate issues). Apparently they don't usually send out the appts until you're 18 weeks. That would be fine but I'm away from 19+6 until I'm over 21 weeks and the scan has to be between 18 and 20+6. The woman I spoke with said she'd get an appt sorted out for before I am away and put in the post to me yesterday so holding thumbs it comes through. It took over an hour to get through to them!

Definitely showing these days, but half my team are still not aware that I'm pregnant... and some who know don't believe it. I can't fit into my work uniform anymore but hey ho! :o

Hope that everyone has a lovely weekend
  • Don't know if anyone remembers me, but I am back again as pregnant with #2, due on the 2nd March.

I totally slipped away after my daughter (Scarlett) turned 1 and now she's nearly 2.

Got my 20 week scan on the 14th October. Have just had a wasted chat with the consultant re delivery due to having an emergency c section last time as have to go back at 36 weeks with a final decision.

Why not just see me at 36 weeks then? I didn't get it at all, especially as I was an hour late for my appt and had to take Scarlett with me.

  • diamond orchid I'll be there with you in 6 days :)

Hi coninualdiamond are you hoping for a natural birth this time or an elective section?

I'm picking up my matb1 on monday, hoping my boss comes to the office this week as i really need to arrange annual leave dates with her for before my mat leave.

Had a bit of trouble getting comfy in bed the past few nights, was hoping it would be a bit longer before that happened!
Still here..... but working on that!
  • Hi Continual diamond, pootle and sweetie and anyone else I have missed.

littleskintdragon, I haven't been comfortable in bed for ages now. Keep moving over too quickly and getting all sorts of stretchy pains.

Saffagal, hope you get your appointment soon.

Rambosmum, I know that feeling. We have just emptied the entire loft to make room for the stuff from our junk/spare room to go in. My OH's Aunt owned the house before us although she never moved in and we are finding boxes of her stuff up there from 20 years ago!!! Its really cathartic sorting it all out and making room, but we are currently in the 'the house has been hit my a bomb, picked up and shaken' phase and its really hard to see when this will end.

Diamond orchid - hopefully it will get busier over there but plenty of chat over here still!

20 week scan on Friday was amazing. All was fine, except bubs was not behaving and wouldn't get its hand away from its face for a good picture. The scan also showed I have an anterior placenta, which explains why I am not feeling kicks even though bubs was having a boogie whilst being scanned. Its a bit of a disappointment but nothing to worry about. Went straight to mothercare after the scan and bought a few outfits, a steriliser, picked the furniture, ordered the pram and perfect prep (£75 in boots at the mo, plus £7.50 of advantage points as you get 10 points per £1 on baby stuff if you sing up to the new mums club thing). Very expensive morning, but soooo much fun.

We then had the wind taken out of our sales a bit as later on we visited OH's parents and were told his dad has lung cancer. Its not totally unexpected as he has all sorts of problems, including asbestosis which has progressed into the cancer, but its still not nice. Its also a relief to finally have the diagnosis so they can do something (although chemo is out due to his poor health).

Anyway, hope you ladies are enjoying the chilly weather. The colder it gets, the closer we are to meeting our little mini-me's.
