12-24 weeks pregnant (part 4)

What's that for then?
During my meeting with HR I was told that I have to take all my annual leave before I go on maternity (if I take the full 12 months off), so I will have the whole of January as paid leave then start maternity on 1st Feb. This means I finish at Christmas! :j so same as you, 19 weeks to go and counting! :T
I have an underactive thyroid so it needs monitoring during pregnancy. The endocrinologist was surprised my medication hadn't been put up already but said my levels were healthy (no issues for baby), but as I had some symptoms she has increased it.
I'd forgotten that you get all your bank holidays accrued as well whilst on Mat leave so I get an extra 5 days off - I'll finish work on the 17th December all being well, mat leave starting 11th Jan and officially returning to work 10th October, though extending it with some annual leave and my bank holidays means I don't go back until 1st November - I have to use all my leave by 1st Nov so it works out really well.
I have now bought a snowsuit (99p) and one nappy cover (£5).0 -
Ooh, I like all the mat leave talk. 19 weeks to go here too.
I am aiming to take a full year so will return in Jan 2017. I will accrue 31.5 days whilst on leave for 2016 (a bit more if I incl bank hols) which I need to take within 1 year of return I think so will have at least 63 days leave to take in 2017. Sounds too good to be true.0 -
I am going to join in this count down to maternity leave, as I have decided that I am going to finish work at just before 32 weeks, as per the midwife's advice!
That means I have only 15 weeks to go tomorrow!! OMG that is scary!
I have also calculated that if I return more than 3 days a week, then the extra money I earn once pension, student loan, tax and national insurance have been deducted will be LESS than the cost of child care for twins and DS!! Once petrol is included, it will COST me £25 a month to work 4 days instead of 3!!!! Isn't that crazy!?Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -

I'm taking a year too and for that exact reason (63 days leave in 2017) am I obliged to take all my annual leave in 2016 before I start my maternity. Don't think that would stand up in a law court tho.
Rambosmum are you doing cloth nappies? I really need to do some research.
Pinkshoes bloomin marvellous working 3 days a week! sounds perfect0 -

Think so, I've done some research and practiced a few folds so at least going to try the reusable route, the washing may start getting me down though!
Pinkshoes - I can't believe it costs more to work than not, that's just wrong!
My OH asked me about mat leave and when I said I would be finishing around 16th December - he said 'no, that's way to early'.
I really wanted to yell "no uterus, no opinion" It's going to be Christmas too, lots of visiting family, we are also having OHs family over to host Christmas this year, we usually go to either mine or his parents. I'm not thrilled, I'll be 37 weeks pregnant with loads of people in my house, and no matter how much OH says he'll do everything, he won't and I'll want to keep the house tidy in case I end up in labor shortly after - I HATE a messy house.
Sorry, rant over.0 -
Ooh lots of maternity leave excitement today! I'm going to meet with HR soon to figure it all out, looking to finish early December though.
So we had our follow-up scan today and as suspected, our baby has talipes, one foot more affected than the other. But no other issues which is what we were more worried about, so it's a huge relief in a way. Then we decided we did want to find out the sex after all and we're having a little boy!!
Had absolutely loads of wriggling last night and today, and DH got to feel too, which was amazing. I can't believe how magical this whole experience is, we feel so lucky0 -

Hallo ladies, I'm moving up to join you as had my official dating scan today and was put forward to 12+6.
One of my managers is pregnant too, 6 weeks ahead of me. We went out for lunch today and discussed finishing work - I have a lot of AL still owing in this leave year (which runs April - Mar) so am planning to take all of January and the first week of Feb as AL as well as working shortened days through December.
I need to book a meeting with HR to discuss how my childcare vouchers will work during mat leave. I'll be taking a years mat leave, but obviously won't be getting paid for the full year.
snow-ball, glad that there were no other issues found. The treatment now for talipes is usually very successful and down the line often not noticeable.0 -
Hey all,
Back from my little break away and it was fab...lovely to feel some sunshine on my skin! Although, when does the worrying stop?!? I was worried about overheating, worried about dehydrating, worried about sunburn.... jeez it was stressful! :rotfl::rotfl:
Anyway, 20 week scan tomorrow (I'll actually be 20+3). OH and I still undecided (read: arguing) about finding out. I really want to, he doesn't. He's not up for me knowing and not telling him either :rotfl: what to do, what to do...:(
The kicks and rolls are getting stronger and stronger and I love feeling little one bouncing about!
Hope everyone feeling great!
Bought is to buy. Brought is to bring.0 -
Welcome saffagirl.
Snowball, sorry to hear that I can imagine you have mixed feelings at the moment, grateful it isn't something more serious but still worrying about you precious little boy. I'm sure he'll be just perfect!
Good luck for the scan tomorrow jwil. The whole thing is constant worry. I've been told that doesn't change when they are born either!0
