Thanks pinkshoes. She is my first baby and trying to do my best to keep her.....

Had a go at the doppler yesterday and heard the heartbeat. It was amazing. At first all I could hear was my own HB, and then the blood flow through the placenta and then a few whooshes when baby turns around then the heartbeat which is super fast and unmistakable...and then its gone as peanut wriggles around again.

Best £20 I have spent in a while. Will use it once a week I think just to make it all feel real until I can feel little one moving around.

And nausea is back....:( just as I was starting to enjoy this pregnancy business. Officially in the second trimester today!!!!!

I feel bleurgh today- been off work yesterday and today and was dog sick today, not sure if it's residual MS (I've only been sick once though felt nauseated constantly until about a week ago), or whether I'm actually ill. I feel generally crap though. I hate being off work.

    Hi all,

    So I am 17+1 today :T

Have felt little 'flutters' of movement if I lie really still and concentrate, but still not sure if it is just wind. :rotfl:

Reading your latest posts has made me think of a pram - what do you all recommend? In my head I have it that there is such a thing as a 'car seat pram' i.e. the car seat lifts out of the back seat and attaches onto the pram base - is this such a thing? And if so, what happens when they get bigger? Is there a different attachment that then goes on?

    I am clueless :rotfl::rotfl:

There are a number of prams which you can do that with. Most fit with the Maxi-cosi car seats - the cabrio fix and one other I can't remember the names of. I know that the big names all do one and the kiddiecare own brand one also fits with it.

But remember that babies aren't supposed to be in a car seat for more that 1.5 - 2 hours at a time.

They are called 'travel systems'. You usually buy the car seat separately to the pram.

Ah ok, that's something to think about then... told you I am clueless

Also need to find out about Isofix, as my car has points for that and what ones match up - it's a minefield!

We've ordered our 'travel system' after I did hours and hours of online research (it often got to the point where I had to give up because the more I looked, the more confused I got!).

It's one of the most difficult purchases I've ever made, because obviously it's so important but there is sooooo much choice & variation to the 'packages' you can get! We ended up getting a deal on a complete system, including car seat & base. And though they can't stay in them for more than an hour or 2, it will make transferring them from car to house a little bit smoother. I hope!

You can future proof a little by getting car seats (with compatible bases) that will accommodate LOs upto 2-3yo I think, but we just got the standard baby one (upto 12mths).

You should be fine, most bases are for the isofix points (some work with seatbelts instead for older cars) you just need to decide which seat you want and then find out which base is compatible.

Best thing to do is visit a few shops and tell them how clueless you are, we found staff in a couple of shops really helpful and knowledgeable, helped us a lot.

    Hello everyone!

I'm moving over from the less than 12 weeks thread as I found out yesterday at my dating scan that I am now 13 weeks today, as opposed to the 11+6 I thought I would be!

Anyway, this is Baby No. 4. I have 3 DDs - 11, 8 (9 on Saturday) and 6, and this is definitely the last baby for us.

After the scan yesterday, we met the consultant for the first time, which was a pleasant surprise. Basically, I grow big babies and because they keep getting bigger, with my last being 10lb1oz (4.56kg), they're a bit concerned, especially as I had an obstetric emergency with my last one. The obstetrician is keen to avoid that, so it looks as though I will most likely be offered a caesarean this time to get baby out early. So, although my official due date is 27 January, I am going on the assumption that this baby will be born round about the middle of January.

I still feel sick and I can't wait for this to end! With the other three it ended around 14-16 weeks, so hopefully I don't have too much longer to wait.

We've already started looking at pushchairs, etc. as we got rid of most baby stuff after DD3 as DH was adamant we weren't having any more (I won in the end :)). I won't be buying anything just yet, just browsing for the moment.

Right, I'm off to do some work! Hope everyone is well today.

Thanks snow_ball, what system did you go for in the end?

I am now also panicking that we will need 2 car seats, as OH's car is older than mine and doesn't have Isofix points for car seats... so if I am using my car how will he get LO out and about... .argh what a stress :rotfl::rotfl:
