We are wobbling a bit on finding out this time. We didn't with my DS. But he is so excited about the baby & I think it would be nice for him to know either way. That said he'd find out quick enough come the time. I may stay strong :) only 15 weeks now so a while to wait till we could find out anyway.

  • This thread is so quiet at the moment - where's everyone gone?!

I'm hoping to join if there's anyone still out there. I'm 16+3 weeks gone with my first and finding pregnancy harder than I imagined. I was trying for 18 months before falling pregnant so desperately want this baby but never expected it to be so hard once I'd actually got pregnant! So many things to worry about. Got my 20 week scan on 13th May and so worried that everything won't be ok - silly really as I have no reason to think something is wrong other than not really feeling pregnant at the moment. Anyone else have irrational fears?

Hi guys, time for me to join this thread from the earlier one.

13+4 today, due 17th Oct with baby #2, DS1 is 14 months old.

Ricegirl, irrational fears are totally normal, it's a very long 9 months!

Rice Girl - sorry to hear that. In what way are you finding it hard? I'm now 16 weeks & as I'm not yet showing or feeling movement I was very reassured at the check up yesterday to hear the babies heart beat again. I have quite a physical job and do worry sometimes the affect. So I do know the worries.

  • Hi Jenifer, glad to have some more company on this thread.

    Thanks for replying Bobarella. I
Just finding it hard because there are such large gaps between scans and I'm always worried that something has gone wrong. No reason for it but, as you said, no obvious signs that I am actually pregnant yet as no proper bump and not feeling any movements. I actually had my midwife appointment yesterday too and was such a relief when she found the heartbeat straight away. Looking forward to the 20 week scan now. Anyone else planning to find out the sex or are you waiting for a surprise? We want to find out as it will allow us to plan fully without staying neutral for everything, plus I'm a bit impatient to know!
  • Welcome to all the newbies!

Ricegirl - We found out we're having a girl at a private scan a couple of weeks ago. I'm far to impatient to wait!

I'm 19 weeks now and have been feeling movements for a couple of weeks now. It seems to come in bursts though. I'll have a couple of days where I feel her off and on throughout the day and then a couple of days of feeling nothing.

We've started buying a few bits now as and when we see a good deal. Got some great clothes bargains in Boots sale using giftcards and we managed to only pay £25 for a Perfect Prep machine (my luxury item!) by stacking discounts and vouchers on Amazon!

Going to a nearly new sale on Sunday so hoping to pick up a few more bits. Ideally things like playmats and bouncers that don't get used for very long.

We are 19 weeks this week and feeling lots of movement now. this is my 2nd. they seem to be much lower down that my DS1 was. and the movements are quite strong internal movements - by that i mean we haven't felt any by putting hands on bump. Scan is next friday and DS1 is so excited. we are on team yellow this time round :)

riceGirl, I could have written your post myself - you are definitely not alone in felling like that! I'm 14 weeks gone with my first and feeling the exact same as you. No noticeable bump - just slightly bloated stomach still - and my symptoms since hitting 12 weeks have mostly vanished! I've had two scans so far which have reassured me for a few days and then I'm back to worrying! Now I'm at the point where I'm worrying that everything's going to be ok at the 20 week scan. We are also going to find out what we are having - too impatient not to.

It must be reassuring to hear the heartbeat - I've not heard it at all yet, just seen it flickering on scans. My midwife has said she will be checking it at my 16 week appointment though so got that to look forward to :)
