Welcome to the thread firebird and lifestarts. Hope you are both keeping well.

Has anyone thought about/booked a 'babymoon'? We've decided to have a city break in January when I'll be about 25 weeks as it will be our last couple holiday for a while. Only problem is I'm struggling to find travel insurance- when I go on the usual comparison sites it's not recognising pregnancy/ pregnant as a pre existing condition, but I know I need to declare it. Anyone got any suggestions or recommendations for insurers? It's only for a few days in Europe, nothing extreme to insure!
  • Hi Penguingirl, funnily enough ive just been looking at Centreparcs for a break after I start Maternity leave. I went to Portugal in late October just after I found out I was pregnant, I must admit I never thought to update the insurers - oops!

I think a lot of people forget. I just messaged my super organised friend who is 35 weeks as I knew she'd gone away at 28 weeks. She got a fit to fly note (that no one looked at) and took her notes, but said she never thought to tell insurers (she has an annual policy). We don't have an annual policy at the moment, so I think we'll need to declare it.

Penguin I think were going to be looking at something too. Probably stay quite close to home as I don't think I have time to squeeze it in before 30 weeks. I wouldn't have the faintest idea about insurance, maybe give a company a call if you can't find anything online?

All my flying over the next few months all seems to happen just before and just bang on 27 weeks, so hopefully won't need to bother with a fit to fly note.

Hi to all those who have just joined.

Elles twins, thats exciting! Definitely will keep you busy :)
  • I think there's a number of weeks at which point all the airlines basically won't let you fly, but I can't remember off the top of my head when it is...

We're planning a week away in this country in the spring - sort of a last hurrah without baby, but I expect that will just be a cottage somewhere we can go for walks and just relax! (actually, Centreparcs sounds like a nice option!).

Firebird that's exactly what I'm looking at, cottages with some nice walks and maybe a pub or something for the OH.

Generally I think its up to 35 weeks, but after 27 weeks you need to have a note from the doctor, but each airline has its own rules.

I think it's about 27-28 weeks when you need the note, I won't be that, but I'll probably ask at my January midwife appointment just in case. Will work something out insurance wise, will probably need to ring some.

I have started feeling strange flutterings in the last few days! I only notice them if I really concentrate and stay still, but I'm getting better at spotting them.

Has anyone else had sleep difficulties? I'm waking at strange times. Last night I was awake 1.30-4.30am which was not fun. OH was disturbed by me at 3am when i promptly burst into tears. Thankfully he was amazing and helped me calm down, but it still was rubbish.
