Cats maternity fitness gear is such a good shout, my mums been asking what I want and have just said as long as its not baby related, but would definitely save me some money if she bought that instead.
Oh really Penguin, I think if anyone thought of buying an oversized teddy I'd be inclined to tell them were to shove it. Not in a mean and malicious way, but more so as in where the hell are you supposed to store it amongst the million and one other things you need to figure out where to store.
It is a weird transition, you have all these people and social media posts telling you how your supposed to feel, how your supposed to prepare etc and then your just stuck here thinking, as Cats said, I'm still just me. I guess its just one of the things people don't usually tell you.0 -
I do feel a bit guilty about it - this baby is so wanted after over a year TTC and I really am hugely excited, I just find that for me personally it isn't all I want to talk about. Grandparents to be find that very hard to understand!!Officially Mrs B as of March 2013
TTC since Apr 2015, baby B born March 20170 -
Hi ladies, I hope you are all doing well this week!
Sorry to hear that a few of you are suffering over excited parents who are wanting to purchase things before you would like. I feel fortunate that my parents are wrapped up in my baby niece at the moment so haven't even mentioned buying our baby anything! :T
Cats, I can relate to what you say about baby/bump being all everyone talks about! I love my bump and cannot wait until our wee bundle is here but I am a person in my own right too, I don't constantly want to talk about babies or asked how I am "coping" all the time :rotfl:
I have decided not to book any of the hospitals antenatal classes but have emailed to book local combined pregnancy yoga & birth preparation classes. These kind of classes aren't really my thing but I do feel like I'd like to learn before I'm in labour wishing I had gone!
My itchy spots/rash is still lingering about. Went to see GP yesterday where she said she wouldn't recommend Piriton etc as it's not licensed for pregnancy but gave me an intense hydrating moisturiser. She says that this can sometimes break the cycles of more spots breaking out - although did not diagnose what the spots/rash was
The good news is that if it is pregnancy related, it will go when baby arrives - in another 16 weeks :rotfl:0 -
Hello all,
Seems to be fairly quiet over here, hope you are all well.
My sickness and nausea has improved lots. I have my 16 week midwife appointment this Wednesday, and was debating booking a gender scan to find out before christmas, but I may just hold out till the 20 wk scan on the 4th Jan.
Been feeling a few cramps and twinges which come and go through the day.
I managed to get some under bump petite length jeans from asos, but need to start buying some maternity tops, maybe hold out for the sales which start after christmas.
Must start getting an idea about prams too! Everyone else decided on a pram yet?0 -
Hi vanilla8,
we've just started looking at prams.... its a mine field isn't it?!? Really don't know where to start..... all we've come up with so far is that we need an adjustable handle to accommodate both me and my husband... oh and a cup holder :rotfl:0 -
Vanilla how do you find the asos jeans? I really need to think about getting some. We've booked a gender scan for next Saturday, we don't get told my the NHS in my area and I'm desperate to find out, so I've booked it for bang on 16 weeks. How did you 16 week appt go? I have mine this Tuesday.
Yeah I've looked at prams briefly in shops and done some looking online but there is so many to choose from. Between that and deciding if we are going straight for a cot or use a crib first, so many decisions to make.0 -
I've not even thought about prams, but we will also need an adjustable one. We've used my nephew's quite a lot as we always take him for a walk when we have him, and they've had a couple - one we didn't like and one we now do. The first didn't really have enough space to hang a bag- it banged into you and there wasn't much space underneath either as it was a 3 wheeler. Just been at my mum's today for a family friends baby shower (anyone not having a baby?!) and mum has offered to buy my pram. She's also got a crib/moses basket that is an old family one and will just need a new mattress. She's also agreed to store anything MIL gives me at Christmas until I'm ready to have it at home which is good if her. I think we're going to start looking properly/ getting organised after scan on 5th Jan.
April will they not tell you at your scan? All our info says it's not the purpose of the scan, but everyone I know who wanted to be told has been told.0 -

The asos jeans are really comfy, Ive had to wear a belt with them at the moment to stop slipping down in the morning but my bump seems to come out more by the evening and the belt then comes off
My 16 week appointment is this Wednesday (i'll be 17 weeks)
I've heard a few stories of some NHS not letting you know the gender. Just missed out on a 20% discount code with window to the womb for scans that ended yesterday!
Regarding crib we are going to go with ones that attach to the bed - something like the chicco next2me or Snuzpod0 -
Penguin, that's handy that your mum has offered to store things in the mean time. No they haven't mentioned the sex for a few years now everyone up this way seems to just get private scans. They even have signs in the waiting room stating that they won't tell you the sex so not to ask.
There's been so many mentions of baby showers, I've never been to one or known of anyone to have one. Then again I think I'm the first one out of all my friends to do the whole marriage and baby thing. Plus I'm not one for a big fuss, these sorta thing a just make me nervous :rotfl:0 -
Hello all, I'm just joining from the less than 12 weeks thread - had my dating scan this morning, and currently 13+5. It all feels a lot more real once you've seen it, doesn't it!0
