12-24 weeks pregnant (part 4)

We did put up an FB announcement. We lied to so many of our friends and family members at our wedding a few weeks before the 12 week scan... "Babies?! God no, not for a long time" etc, and it was the easiest way to tell everyone our news at the same time. We've put nothing else up since though, and we're unlikely to put anything else on until baby is born.
Talking of piling on the weight, I've weighed myself this morning at so far I've put on almost 10lb. Need to sort myself out and stop eating biscuits!
6 days until our 20 week scan. I've managed to keep nerves under control before our other scans, but I'm really struggling with this one. I'm really worried about it, and it's all I can think about at the moment. I'm trying to keep myself busy, and convince myself that it's normal to be worried, but I've got a niggling feeling that it's not going to go well. I really hope it's just pregnancy paranoia.0 -
Tinks I think it's understandable to be anxious before the scan - I'd be more worried if someone wasn't slightly nervous as after all, it is actually a medical way of checking if there are any anomalies with the baby rather than just what sex it is, which some people forget. However, I have my fingers firmly crossed for you that everything will be absolutely fine with your baby. Sending you lots of strength to get through the next 6 days. Try to fill your days with things to distract you to help pass the time. Thinking of you. XxEnjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.I married Moon 8/4/2011, baby boy born 26/9/2012, Angel Baby Poppy born 8/11/15, Rainbow baby boy born 11/2/20170

9 days to go for us to the 20wk scan... definitely feeling the anxiety too Tinks, just trying to tell myself that all will be ok and filling my head with positive thoughts/feelings!! And avoiding google like the plague!
Booked the afternoon off today and going to the hairdressers and for a bit of a pamper... so needed.
Have a lovely weekend all xMancMama4 (35) TTC since Apr 15, MMC Dec 15, Our Rainbow Baby Charlie arrived Dec 16 :heart2:0 -
Hope you enjoyed your pampering Manc!
My online shop has been a bit of a disaster. I've ordered some non maternity dresses in a size up hoping they'd fit but they are all enormous. At this rate I'll be wearing my pjs to this wedding!
On a nicer note we went and bought some paint for the nursery this morning so we're going to do that when we're off work at the end of this week. I also booked in for a block of birthing classes with The Daisy Foundation. Anyone heard of it? The classes sound great. I was between that and Yogabellies but the times of the daisy one suited better. Start at the end of the month!0 -
I didn't feel even slightly nervous at the 20 week scan. But that's probably just because we'd already had 3 scans before that and he was fine at each one, so had no reason to think the 20 week would be any different.
I just felt really excited to see him again, it's amazing how much bigger the baby gets on the screen with each scan and how much more detail you can see.
However if we hadn't had one at 16 weeks, then I probably would have been more nervous.
OH was worried at every scan, perfectly normal - it just shows that you care!Mortgage remaining: £42,260 of £77,000 (2.59% til 03/18 - 2.09% til 03/23)

Freddie I am still so happy for you both, what a journey you've been on I bet you can't wait to meet him!
I think when you put it like that it makes sense - we've had scans at 6, 9, 12 and a quick check at 15 and was fine so staying positive and trusting in my body. Yikes, 1 week to go! xMancMama4 (35) TTC since Apr 15, MMC Dec 15, Our Rainbow Baby Charlie arrived Dec 16 :heart2:0 -
I've just dug out the letter for the scan on Thursday and it doesn't mention whether a full bladder is required or not for a 20 wk scan. Does anyone know? Have had a Google but not really found an answer.0

My 20 week scan letter said a full bladder was needed. Plus last time my bladder was empty due to being unwell beforehand and they were very unhappy about it. It meant the baby was so low they needed to tilt me back so I couldn't even see the screen. The scan can be quite long so you don't want to be desperate to pee when you go in.Don't listen to me, I'm no expert!0

It seems different areas again are different then. My letter didn't say you needed a full bladder and I asked the receptionist when I went in... She said no so I went to the loo while we were waiting to go in. I definitely didn't have a full bladder and it was fine.Became Mrs Scotland 16.01.16
