Pink Petal there are many places that have a maternity range online only such as Dorothy Perkins , ASOS (lots of dresses), Next, etc. Good shops on the high street to try are Mothercare, Mamas & Papas, Jojo Maman Bebe (lovely quality stuff there), Red Herring in Debenhams and H&M.

I'm 23 weeks now with a big bump. I no longer need to wear my baby on board badge on the train as it's fairly obvious. :)

I need to decide when to go on maternity leave and start preparing clothes and stuff for this baby.
Don't listen to me, I'm no expert!

Nice to see you here Mouse! Glad your scan went well!

Pink, we were at a family wedding a couple of weeks ago and I had a nightmare trying to find something. I ordered and sent back 14 dresses! In the end I went for a non-maternity dress from Asos and just went a size up, as I found all the bump sections on the maternity stuff were just too big for me and looked silly. This is the dress I went for http://www.asos.com//Maya/Maya-Deep-Back-Maxi-Dress-with-Full-Skirt-and-Embellishment/Prod/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=6333303 might be a bit dressier than what you're looking for but there are lots of similar, floaty style maxis on there.

I absolutely hate maternity clothes! Barely any shops around here stock anything instore, and any that do have instore stock are just full of frumpy clothes I would never normally wear. Feel like I've forgotten how to dress!

mouse its just so lovely to see you on here, I hope the sickness eases for you a little now you're past 12 weeks - have you told many people yet? x

I agree with others about the choice of maternity wear, so frustrating! I went to the Trafford Centre Next and felt like an idiot when I was told you can only get the Maternity range online... I did order a few bits and got some casual tops from H&M (surprisingly good really). I've got a black tie ball when I get to 32 weeks as well... not sure I'll be going at this rate!

    Glad everyone is well x

I told my parents right at the beginning as I needed the support. I also told 2 close friends who helped me through Poppy's birth etc as they'd been there for me throughout everything and there are certain things that you just can't discuss with your parents sometimes. My sister and my 3-year-old were told last night as well as one other friend, but I'm not going to announce it on Facebook or anything as I know quite a few people dealing with losses or who are struggling to conceive etc, and I don't want to upset anyone. If I see people out and about and I have a bump then they'll find out that way.

My sickness seems to have got worse in the last few days. I put it down to stress about the scan before but I was sick from 5am today until 11, 5 times! I'm keeping my lunch down so far though fingers crossed. I'm hoping today is just a one-off sort of like how you get a cold when you relax after being stressed.

How are you all doing ladies?
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.

Thanks for all the suggestions, I noticed the lack of maternity clothes in actual stores when I was shopping on Saturday. I found one rail in Debenhams and one in Topshop! Everything else seems to be online. I really wanted to try on before buying for the reason you mentioned Tinks...the bump sections seem to look silly on me as I'm at that in between stage! The dress you wore is gorgeous, but yea a wee bit dressier than I'm looking for and actually very similar to the BM dresses at the wedding! But I will have a good browse online later and order a few things to try. Wedding is a week tomorrow so I'm running out of time!

Mouse - lovely to see you over here! So glad the scan went well!
  • Ladies it's hard to find actual maternity clothes until you have a bump
But New Look have some maternity dresses you can layer over leggings etc which will last you. You can usually stick to your normal dress size... I bought some nice bits from H&M but also got a lot from eBay once I knew what sort of thing I was after :) good luck!

Thanks psycho, I hadn't even though of ebay, must try there too! pp I am the same, I want the comfort around my belly but not the baggy bump section flapping around... but sure it will fill out soon enough.

mouse I felt the same about Facebook and didn't want to put it on really but my husband was so excited and really wanted to so I let him. I know exactly what you mean about being conscious of other people's losses. I've actually gone a bit funny about social media since we found out this time, I've deleted a lot of people and made my Instagram private. I had a very angry stage of thinking "why should these people know about my life?" after only a handful of people were close enough to know about last time. Guess I am still dealing with some grief...

In other news, feeling pretty good today so going with the energy and getting some jobs done. I haven't plucked my eyebrows for weeks haha! The excitement x

Could have sworn I posted this early, but Amazon is worth a look for maternity clothes, they have a few New Look bits at silly prices... tops for less than a fiver! It was only by chance I looked as it's not somewhere I would usually think of.

Really pleased mouse that your scan went well. I know how scary it was for us at the 12!

we didn't want anything on Facebook. OH didn't want it shouted about - not after what happened last time.

She especially wouldn't have wanted to have been reminded about it if something had gone wrong by seeing a post from the past.
Her Dad was excited though and did post an announcement after finding out - luckily I caught it early and got them to remove it.

I made a private group on Facebook that just includes immediate relatives. I post updates on there - but they all know that it's strictly private and not to share or repost anything.

I ended up ordering a whole load of stuff from various places, ASOS, ebay, new look. Lots of basics, 2 pairs of jeans, work trousers and quite a few dresses that I can wear to work. Hoping this lot will see me through and I won't have to buy anything else! I also ordered a few dresses to try for the wedding next week so fingers crossed one of those does the job!

We also didn't announce anything on FB, it's just not really us. A few people keep asking me if I'm making an announcement as it just seems to be the done thing these days! I'm guessing when I put some pics from the wedding up people will clock on...or just think I've been piling on the weight!!!
