Congrats justme... I think we were both on previous thread?

I always said if we had a baby then every day would be fancy dress day :D poor child!

If anyone was thinking of getting a nappy disposal bin (not discussing whether they are worth it or not, very much a personal choice) the angelcare ones are half price in boots and Argos, and the cassettes are a third off in Argos. I also got the lasinoh lanolin cream for half price as they had the wrong price instore in our local boots... Online it's only £2 off so worth checking.

We have the nappy bin.. it's a bit pointless for one in nappies but when there were 3 it was a godsend!!

Previous to this I had a carrier hung on the outside of the backdoor which the dirty nappy went in and the bag was binned at the end of the day.. not the best solution but meant I didn't have to dash out to the bin every 5 minutes.

Thanks pyschopath and beckyy. Yes I think we were on the other forum together pyschopath!

I've not even thought as far ahead as nappies yet  apart from telling DH if I have to do inputs he has to do outputs :rotfl:
  • We have the angelcare nappy disposal too. My sister swore by her one. There are cheaper compatible cassettes for it too on Amazon.

Been picking up random smaller bits and pieces for the past week. Anti colic bottles, breast pump, maternity pads, loads of toys (including a starlight buddy fox from cloud B. So cute and it projects stars onto the ceiling at bedtime!! A lot of their light and sensory toys are adorable), play mats, in ear baby thermometer. Few other bits. Her room is getting full of stuff. The cats keep trying to get in and nosey at it. They don't like that there are now rooms that they can't get into. They're used to being the bosses around here.

Getting some other bits and pieces sorted around the house while we still have time and energy.
Got some new patio furniture delivered today that I ordered last week. Think I'm going to end up sweltering over summer, bad enough already. So somewhere nice to sit out in the cool will be welcome.

GTT tests went well at the hospital. No problems. Though it turns out they booked me in a bit earlier than I should have had it done. I must be weird. Everyone warned me that the drunk they give you tastes horrible, but I liked it.

Baby is still being quiet, but still getting some movements so I'm guessing he is either tired from a growth spurt or just in a place that means he has a bit more space. Has anyone else had their baby go a bit quiet? I've read it's still quite early for regular movements but I like it when he movesvas it's nice and reassuring.

    Welcome just me.

I've not decided yet on whether to get a nappy bin, I will have to look what deals are about. How long would one cassette last? (Roughly)

I'm also very undecided on breast feeding so that's something else I keep seeing good deals on things but don't want to buy just yet in case I do decide to breast feed.

This little one has quiet days so don't panic. I accidentally found a way to make her wiggle though. I had a bowl of ice cream on my belly, getting really big now and it's handy for holding bowls or cups! After a few seconds the cold must have reached her and she started moving again. So if she has a quiet day and I'm a bit worried I grab anything from the freezer and put it in my belly. By the time I've counted to 10 she's usually on the move. Worth a go :)

The cassettes for the bins hold 10 bags each. Think they'll end up not lasting too long, especially early days. That's why I went for the cheaper compatible cassettes. Doesn't matter if we go through a lot that way.

I only got the bottles and pump for when we are out and about. I do want to breastfeed. But I'm not comfy doing it in a coffee shop/friend's house/restaurant.. I'll have to express for when we are out of the house. But when we are home I'll be feeding her with any luck. Hoping she takes to it easily enough. I know there's the whole argument about rights to breastfeed in public without people causing a fuss or trying to stop you. Believe me, I'm all for it for anyone, I just wouldn't feel comfortable feeding in front of a load of strangers.

crazy.. you're not feeding in front of strangers.. you are just feeding the baby, after a few weeks it gets less exposed.. until they are a toddler and want you stark naked and shove your clothes everywhere.. it is really not as exposed as you're imagining.. most people dont even realise you're feeding.. an in many years of feeding in all manner of places including walking around tesco with a 4 day old baby I have only once had an issue.. in church for my daughters baptism.

Think from about 23-28 weeks there is a massive amount of grouwing going on so they often have quiet days.. make the most of them by 35 weeks they feel like they will erupt through your skin alien style any second.

I'm a bit worried about this too... I'm due early November and we will be up at my in-laws for Christmas and new year. The thought of bf-ing in front of anyone is freaking me out. I guess I won't care as much when baby arrives but I don't feel overly comfortable when others are feeding in front of me... I have no issue with it at all, don't get me wrong, but I can't help worrying about it. Am planning to express if I can to get family members to feed too and then the baby can get used to being with other people too!

I always thought I would try and breastfeed but now I'm actually facing it I'm having a wobble. I know it's better for little one, but I've seen people put under ridiculous pressure to continue even when they are finding it impossible and incredibly difficult, and I'm just not how I would cope with it at a time when I'm very hormonal and it's really putting me off as I don't want to be made to feel like a failure.

Thank you for the reassurances. As a first time mum it's so difficult to know what I should be worrying about and what is perfectly normal.

I'm really hoping to bf. Aside from the health benefits and bonding it's a big cost saving on formula and all the faffing around with bottles etc. I don't think I'll care about it in front of close family and friends. I'd be more concerned about getting negative comments/reactions in public, though from what I've seen it's can be done so discreetly most people wouldn't notice.

I'd never judge somebody for choosing not to, but personally I think it would make sense to try and if it doesn't work then fair enough.
