I'm so tired today! We went to DH's Dad's for Sunday lunch yesterday, and didn't leave until 9.30pm! This was after 45 minutes of me cajoling him out the door as it's an hour's drive home.

They were all quite drunk, and DH is suffering this morning. He still had to get up at 6.30am though as Ikea called last night to say that our mattress was first up to be delivered and could arrive anytime between 7 and 8am! lol It had been delivered by 7.45am, so no more wonky uncomfortable mattress! Yay! :)

DH's Dad is very excited about being a granddad. He wanted to buy the cot for the baby, so we said yes and then he was showing me one he'd seen last night, and started getting carried away with 'oh, we should get you x, y and z too' haha. Bless him, he might not be so keen on all that expense now the alcohol has worn off lol

I don't know where to even begin with prams tata! That book sounds cool! :)

Pigpen, that's still classified as low risk, but I understand your concerns. I'm not sure what a NIPT test is, but good luck with trying to get it sorted!

  • Great news Toots!

Sorry you failed your exam euronorris :(

The morning sickness is back :( Not as bad as before but nothing like the 3 glorious weeks I had when I was free of it!

It is the new test for genetic screening during pregnancy.. it has been trialed in a few health authorities and is being rolled out as a routine test. It cut the need for the risky amnio's by a massive percentage and so reduced the number of babies lost as a result of that procedure. With 2000 babies being lost each year in the UK as a result of the amnio it just seems a much preferred option. If the NIPT comes back as high risk they still want to do the amnio as confirmation but few do.. I'm sure the thing I read said the number of amnios dropped to 23%, less than 1/4 to what it was previously and that would reduce loss to under 500 a year!

It is available privately at around £300-£400 depending on area but I cant afford that, I cant afford food! I was just thinking of enquiring about whether it was running in this area yet.. but it would mean a hospital trip and I don't have time for that.

Ooohhh, this is the Harmony test. I'd heard that the NHS had been trialling it too, and were going to roll it out, but I didn't realise they had a different name for it.

Definitely worth asking if they will do it for you. The worst they can say is no.

    Good luck! x

Well, our second attempt for the 20 week scan got the missing measurements and although they're not completely sure they think it's a boy, which means I've got something to get my head around as I was convinced it was a girl again. Little sod is well and truly breach though. But there's still time for baby to move.

Glad they could do all the measurements LemonTree. And congrats on the boy news! :)

If baby is breech, do you get a lot of kicks lower down? I've been wondering if mine is breech as I feel loads of kicks lower down, and only a few movements higher up.

  • I too am exhausted today, hoping this passes soon! I had a long but relaxing day yesterday, went to a spa with my best friends and finally told them my news :D. But was out of the house from 10.30am til 8.30pm, same amount of hours as a work day but I'm not functioning well now! It's going to be a long week.

Euronorris, yes I get a lot of kicks low down, my daughter was transverse until the very end so kicks were across the middle and much higher up, but they do get higher in your tummy as you go along.

Congratulations Toots and Lemon Tree, all very exciting xx

We had a successful scan today, am so relieved everything looks very normal and the sonographer was very thorough and got all the measurements. We are team pink which we are very happy about. My 4 year old is really pleased she is getting a sister and after 5 miscarriages finally seeing a light at the end of all the worry.

Thanks LemonTree. Little one is kicking right now! lol we'll find out position one way or another on Thursday, as that is our 20 week scan :) I wouldn't be surprised if baby was breech though as all of my sister's babies have been.

Boat girl, that is excellent news about the scan. I'm very pleased that all was well, and congrats on the girly news! :)
