    lulu, please don't worry :)

Best thing to do for yourself is gather all the information and you decide yourself.

For example, as I did science in college I tend to look at the website pubmed for papers about safety aspects. Below is an example :

    http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/26200630

As for treatments, I tend to look up the NICE guidelines they give physicians, you can find them online if you want to put your mind at ease. For example, where I live they are fond of inducing you which is not something I agree with. :D

Don't worry lulu, some of those studies have been highly criticised for lack of control group, sample size etc. I've had 7 scans so far, you just have to weigh it up. X

Yeah, as far as I was aware there is no conclusive evidence either way. This is brought up a lot on the Glow app, along with people trying to justify how smoking weed whilst pregnant is totally okay...

Jeez! Smoking anything whilst pregnant is a big no no. It starves baby of oxygen :(

exactly.. no evidence either way.. but there wasn't with thalidomide and look what happened there! .. and x-rays, they used to be routine too.

But still.. having a scan every day cannot be safe which was the point being made.. if there is the vaguest doubt about something why would you expose yourself to it more than necessary?

but it used to be encouraged, along with alcohol, xrays, thalidomide and the first whooping cough vaccine which caused brain damage.. amazing how the human race survived beyond the 70's really :p

We don't know what will be discovered next week or next year we can only work with what we have now and something used as a diagnostic tool should not be abused IMO just on the off chance.. but in the last 40 years the numbers of children with ASD's (and adults with dementia related illnesses) has increased massively.. along with scans, changes in pesticides, more vehicles on the road, increased numbers of vaccines and scans and junk food... the link is in there somewhere.

I find it all quite fascinating really.

Yay toots fab news!!! Is this your first? How lovely :) glad it all went well x

I don't think anyone was actually suggesting they would have an ultrasound every day. More that it would be nice to be reassured everything is ok. Once those kicks start, that's plenty of reassurance!
