Toots I found my 16 week appointment to be quite underwhelming! I was told that it was this big deal but it was over in 20 mins!
Work have annoyed me again. Turns out my instincts about this new person were correct, but only three of us have figured it out (due to various lies and stuff). It's nothing major but means I definitely can't trust them. I heard from someone else that they are going out for lunch today (no invite for me of course) and atm I'm the only one in my team still at work as they all went, still without inviting me, 55 minutes ago when we only get 30 minutes! only 58 working days left..Our Rainbow Twins born 17th April 2016

Lulu that is so exciting, 2 girls, glad everything went well.
Had my 16 week appointment with midwife today, was literally over in 5 minutes. Urine is fine, blood pressure lower than last time but not a cause for concern and they are booking parent craft classes for us to go to in May. See the midwife again on 3rd February. That was all it was and I was out the door!
Hey Toots
Mine was also over in 5 minutes but she didn't do a urine test. She just checked my blood pressure , spoke about booking antenatal classes in march and went over the blood test results. I had to wait 45 minutes for my 5 minute appointment which meant it went in to her lunch break. Oh and she also told me to go to a glucose tolerance test but didnt explain why i needed this test (guess they found high sugars from my last urine test). Wish i had asked. Atleast you will get satisfaction from your 20 week scan, i sure did.
Apparently the glucose tolerance test is a 3 hour appointment which my midwife didnt tell me but i found out from someone else. If anyone has had this test before please can you let me know what to expect. Thanks0 -
khal327, just popping over from the next thread. I had a GTT at 28 weeks purely based on my BMI which puts me in the high risk group. Mine started really early in the morning, around 7.30. They take some blood samples and then give you a drink. It tastes kind of orangey, and is really sweet. You have to finish the whole thing in a few minutes. You then sit around for a couple of hours, and then they do the blood test again. You cant really do much in between the blood tests, so I took my laptop and did some work in the waiting room. Take a book or something to keep you occupied. Results came back in a couple of days. I also got my flu jab done whilst I was there. As I am rhesus negative, I had to have my anti-D within 48 hours of the GTT (no idea why the timing matters, but it needed doing at 28 weeks anyway) so had to go back for that a couple of days later.
Hope this helps.0 -
Well, they kept playing this on the news last night, and this morning: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-somerset-35167933

I saw that story, euronorris and thought it was incredible!
I'm pretty down today. This whole work thing is upsetting me. Now that the other girl I work with is pregnant I feel more excluded than ever. There's only three of us in today and nobody has spoken to me, but they're having their own conversations, about baby things! You'd think I could be included in that. It's not even as easy as joining in myself as they whisper everything and I'm on the other side of their desks.
I can't wait for my break over xmas. Might bring my leave forward to get away from it. Or sign off sick. Our Rainbow Twins born 17th April 2016

I hope everyone had a great Christmas.
Just moving myself over to the next thread as have just passed my 24 weeks :-)
good luck everyone and hopefully see you on the next thread soon0 -
I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas.
OH's parents normally buy me a bottle of perfume or something but this year I got (shared with OH) a couple of gift cards for restaurants, the amounts on each card are not enough to cover a meal for two! They basically said I wasn't getting anything as they will "spend more when the babies are here", so I was disappointed to say the least, especially as OH was spoiled rotten by my family. Oh well.
Feeling more movements and have a bigger bump now! Can't believe how high on the list I am!Our Rainbow Twins born 17th April 2016

Hi Ladies, Hope you have all had a fab booze free christmas!!!
I have a question for you all, has/did anybody start to buy things for the baby before their 20 week scan? Most people I have spoken to seem to wait until after their second scan (mine is near the end of Jan) I know it is ultimately up to me but I would like to know what others do, especially with these sales on at the minute!!Married 1st October 2015:heartpuls
1st Baby due June 2016 :happylove0 -
Hey skint, I've only bought a couple of neutral clothing pieces but went for a wee nosey in Mothercare yesterday. Think I know what pram I want and it's on sale but we are going to wait until after the scan. Fingers crossed still on sale then!0
