  • Hi, newbie here very very fed up with bank charges. Today they have took £120 out of the account, which has overdrawn us again, which we will no doubt be charged for.
This is not the first time, usually we never get charged the stanard £25-£30 fees.
We also have an arragement were the bank only takes £28.00 a month out for the loan, but always try to take the whole amount, which is £320 a month. Yet they can never put it back straight away, and it takes five (working) days.
The charges are getting stupid now, they seem to think that as they are in dire straights themselves they can charge whatever they want.

Does anyone have a e-mail address to contact Martin on please?
  • :T First of all Martin well done im on AOL and i cant paste links thankyou for making it easier for me to register.
 I have an IVA it runs till next year i had credit cards and bank charges from within the last 6 years can i claim these back and possibly pay this IVA off.
Is there anywhere i can get a mortgage with an IVA .

Does anyone know whether I need to keep my bank account open while the test case carries on if I still want to reclaim my charges when its finished? I've already put in a claim which A&L say is "on hold". I dont' want to carry on giving them my custom in the meantime, especially since they introduced the 50p a day overdraft charge which stings me every month.

You are perfectly free to transfer your banking elsewhere. It won't affect your claim with A&L
  • My bank accepted my claim for financial hardship, based on my original claim more than 2 years ago and still on hold. Now, though, I've been out of work since March. Just before Christmas, they wrote to tell me how sorry they were that they hadn't got round to resolving my claim (it's a five-figure sum, all unfair charges) and they'd passed the legal deadline for sorting it out. They advised me to contact the Financial Services Ombudsman, which can take up to 9 months and they don't even get told off! I suspect, though of course I can't prove, that they're pursposely wasting time to try to hang on to "their" (my) money That's the positive stuff, the downside is they'll stop paying my bills soon, including my mortgage. Anyone have a similar story to tell?

  • I recently asked the bank to review my bank charge claim as i was in financial hardship. They agreed that i was due £3400 but because i owed them more than that on a defaulted loan that i was paying by my wages being arrested, they told me they would take it off my total ....surely they cant do this:mad:
  • Hi,

Just a quick question about the test case, in the event that the waiver is not extended on the 29th of Jan but there is still no decision by the OFT or appeal from the banks will claims be able to go ahead or will they still have to wait for a judgement from the courts?

    Thanks
  • I am really stuck at the moment, I have been trying to reclaim my bank charges from Barclays and I can only describe this process as HELL. I started this whole nightmare in August 2007 and this is what I had back after numerous letters and emails a) received an acknowledgement and nothing else, b) then I received a letter stating that they will be contacting me soon (never happened) c) received from them an standard template letter telling me that I would have to wait. To date I have received 8 of those template letters. What can I do? Any advice? At the moment my bank charges total is £2100+.
