Hi Victory. Thank you for letting us know how you are all doing. I am so pleased as well that Mr Victory is well enough to be home.

As others have said, this will probably only be the start of a long journey for you and your family and I really wish for you that your OH makes good progress.

As others have said, make sure you are well too. Look after yourself and don't be afraid ask for help when needed.

Once again, sending you lots of positive thoughts and well wishes.xx

I have read this every day along with many others.

Now I feel I can offer something - my OH took a brain injury a year and a half ago, and my father in law a life changing stroke recently.

Take help, find it, and take it - it will almost certainly not be offered.

Wherever you are in the Country there will be organisations who do everything from providing free equipment to building ramps or modifying your house, helping with benefit claims, blue badges, financial grants, supporting you as a carer.

There will be help, but you will need to tap into it - and it will make all the difference to both of you.

I'm pleased that you have him home, take time for both of you, and know that this time will pass as well, and he will make progress.

Victory I am so glad you have managed to post. Do you mean OH is home with you or home at a nearer hospital? Whichever it is at least he is mending but it will all take a bit of time to get things sorted and care packages in place etc.

I hope you are still able to get support and the boys and you are coping as well as you can.
    Big hugs

Victory - your username says it all. A long haul ahead but with your support and strength it will be bearable.
No Matter what you do there will be critics.
  • Been coming back every day to see if there has been any news and I'm so glad to see he is now home with you.

Long Road ahead but you'll get there, I bet your boys are so happy to have their father home.

Take care and merry Christmas to you and your family :)

    Hi Victory
Many thanks for the update. So glad he is home and although you have difficult times ahead, the situation for you all will no doubt improve day by day.

Although it may seem a struggle, just think back over 2 weeks when you thought you might not get him home and what an accomplishment it is that he is now at home.

Wishing you all well this Christmas-time, you all remain in my thoughts and I look forward to your updates, no matter how infrequent.

    Take care

Pleased to hear he's out of ICU and back home - although it does seem to be an early discharge. You should be having support from your community nursing team - ask the GP or call them directly. A good ward would have contacted them already to make a referral. Your community team will deal with dressing changes, medications in some instances, symptom control, etc. Be aware though that community nurses do not do social care (washing, dressing, getting in and out of bed, etc), despite what people may tell you. This is down to Adult Services or a private care package. You may have a Community Rapid Response team in your area who will assist with social care. Community nurses are very, very busy and are clinical staff not social care staff.

Good luck and take care x

Many of us have followed without posting, anxious on your behalf and wishing you well.

I'm delighted things are moving on so positively and wish you very well for your future - together! :)
