So sorry to hear this Victory. you have had excellent advice. The only thing I can add from personal experience, is that on ICU you will get asked to wait outside a LOT. you may only get a five or ten minute 'visit' every couple of hours. this is quite normal so don't go reading anything sinister into it. Especially if staff are aware there are a lot of visitors for their patient, I found if its just wife or mum or dad they are more inclined to let you sit by the bedside for longer.
my very best wishes for a full recovery for your husband.
  • I don't know you but am sending you warm wishes. Your thread here may be more useful than you realise. ICU patients often find it useful if someone has kept a diary of things that were happening as time seems a very abstract concept. Some departments will keep a diary for patients but inadvertently you've started one here. Even if you don't manage to add to things here keeping a note of whats happened that day will be really useful for him when he's more alert.

Sending the very best of wishes to you and your family.

OH is maybe going to be having an induced coma so that he is not in so much pain, maybe, he has a lot of internal damage and breaks and bruises and liasons and bleeding so it is hour by hour if his night is better than last night where he stopped breathing twice then it is moving forward but no one knows, maybe an epidural or an induced coma or I don't know, more family are coming now, we managed 2 at a time, not for long, high on morphin and other drugs in and out so we left as we could do nothing.

Best place for him, the morning will bring more news.
