1.9 130 is a nicer power delivery than 2.0 140, and doubt it's far behind in normal driving.
Just get a 330d and do it properly0 -

The 330d's have immense torque and impressive mid-range overtaking power. Fantastic motorway mile crunchers, but as impressive as they are, they don't have the charm or grace of a naturally aspirated BMW in-line 6 petrol. If I had a choice between the two and cost was no option, it would be the petrol every time.0 -

Brothers E46 330d is mapped and sounds great, like a jet fighter; nice 6 pot sound and turbo.
Took mate out in this and his 335i - mate was giggling in the Diesel, in the petrol he was underwhelmed.
Just keeps saying how stupidly quick it is, and he's had a couple cossies.
He's now looking for an E46 330d.....
The diesel is much more fun to drive, and effortless, and much better round town and for overtaking.0 -
I think some peugeot 308 in 2010 were sold with no pdfAny posts on here are for information and discussion purposes only and shouldn't be seen as (financial) advice.0

I'm surprised he felt underwhelmed in the 335i. It isn't naturally aspirated but has twin turbos and the claimed 0-60 or 0-100 are actually faster than that of the 335d's.
335i also have excellent tuning capabilities, I've heard of ones being pushed to 400-450bhp. Maybe the 335i wasn't revved enough?0 -
Twin turbo or twin scroll......? Is crap anyway, they all rattle and you can't get to them.
Yes it was revved. Is crap. Needs a lot of revs to properly get going.
May as well stick the 3.0 M3 engine in there, be better.
Just doesn't feel fast at all.0 -
I am just interested in the ford and toyota cars mentioned above. Only interested in them because they are backed up by good reviews and reliability statistics. So do they have DPF's?0

I'm almost sure there was something wrong that with that 335i. They are really, really fast cars and they should feel faster than a e46 M3. A stage 1 remapped 335i is actually as fast if not faster than an e46 M3. Stage 2 remapped 335i's are as fast as e92 M3's0 -

If you are avoiding a DPF due to potential problems due to your type of use, you don't need a diesel at all. Even non DPF diesels can have plenty of problems if they don't get plenty of use.
I had an X type with a DPF, never had a problem with that part, but other stuff failed as soon as my annual mileage dropped.0
