Hi all
Have been awl due to large amounts of spending.
DD of to uni
Ds to college so books, accommodation, travel ect to pay out for.
Car needed MOT and service plus tyres.
Have had to go to Dentist.
To cap it all came home and found reminder for car tax. This together with a bad cold has sent me over the edge.
I also need new saucepans as the handles are coming away from my old ones and one of the cooker knobs has broken.0 -

Oh Dear, my late Mum-in-law would ask if you had run a robin over with all the catastrophes you are experiencing. Hope you luck changes as it seems as it never rains but it pours at times
Managed to keep my purse firmly shut today, and even got a few blackberries for the freezer.
This afternoon was brilliant as it was our U3A monthly meeting and the speaker was the amazing Bob Newhart, the American comedian. He was brilliant and considering he was born in 1929 still word-perfect in his routines. Amongst others he he did 'The Driving Instructor and the Walter Raleigh routines.Very funny man, and we all thought he was great.
Tomorrow my Mick the gardener is coming and hopefully he will be tidying up my patch of Kent in readiness for the winter,I also have a small list of things for him to do when the weather turns bad as he is a great handyman as well.
Well done chums for hanging on to your halfpennies :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0 -
JackieO How lovely that you had Bob Newhart! We used to listen to his routines a lot on BFBS Radio in the 70s as so many people requested them.
I also remember a very funny song called "I drink to your memory", but I think that was someone else. It was based on the premise of someone whose wife had left him, drinking to "the love that we knew" and getting progressively drunker and maudlin ....."My parents said you weren't fit to live with pigs.
"But I stuck up for you, my darling! I said you were!"
Sorry, completely OT, just having a nice reminisce0 -

Yea and I'm getting soaked. Ds has a uniform for college so I may have to pick that up on Saturday and pay for it.
I am also going to try to visit the new Huguenot Museum as it will be free for heritage open days

Ahoy there
Im just popping on board to say that I ve not been returned to my home planet yet! had a busy week - out each night till midnight - then eating me tea - yep - not good for me! but all good things!
got given a thank you bonus - split it 50/50 between treats and getting back into the black faster. I gave in to a Cost! coffee + cake and one other thing + 4 chicken breasts 2 cook good but quick meals with cos im so busy!
pm2326 - when u are busy I think its much harder to be frugal - almost impossible when you've got kids of that age! it s only a temporary blip - you will get back board - and if you had not been being frugal you would have been in a right old mess by now!
what do others think about being busy but frugal? can it be done?
cheers

Thanks my current set are by prestige and were a wedding present 20 years ago. OH has looked at them and said he can't repair them, ( if he can't then I don't anyone can). I was looking for something similar that I can use the steamer with. The new ones that I've seen on line have a larger steamer that you use with a casserole pan. That would be too big and cumbersome for me.
Anyway the purse is still open ,( it's Scout subs tonight).:rotfl:0
