I've managed to pay off another credit card, a loan and an HP agreement this week so feeling really pleased with myself :T

This leaves me with 2 loans which add up to £3000 and I'm going to try and clear them by August  so it's time to tighten the belt again. Have gone through DD's and cancelled any for the loans etc and have also cancelled magazine subs...realised I flick through mags, put them on table then don't bother looking at them again so no point me getting them anymore.

Saying that I went out for a meal after work last night and spent £20 ...first time I've been out since January 2014 so I think I'll forgive myself this once :rotfl:

Have also called into Aldi this morning on the way to mums as wanted to get some of the pork and Turkey steaks in the new meat offer, ours always sells out quick, got there at 11am and they only had 2 packs of pork steaks left...bought a few other bits but only spent £11. Also called into pet store and bought £10 of cats treats but these should last a month.

Just remembered have a hair appointment on Thursday so that's £10 gone but can't think of anything else I need to buy.

Hoping this means I can stay away from the shops for a bit and save some cash towards the loans...wish me luck :D

Well done its a great feeling when you finally pay something off - isnt it! Stick at it and I am sure you will hit your August target! Sailing on through fair weather and foul shipmate!
Aim for Sept 17: 20/30 days to be NSDs  NSDs July 23/31 (aim 22) :j
NSDs 2015:185/330 (allowing for hols etc)
LBM: started Jan 2012 - still learning!
Life gives us only lessons and gifts - learn the lesson and it becomes a gift.' from the Bohdavista :j

Raining and windy here so no going out in the garden today. Have baked, washed, ironed, done some sewing on a top (fabric from stash) and watercolours. I have also chucked out some work clothes, (really can't stand them). Need to look into yoghurt making I used to have a Lakeland one but it wasn't working so got chucked and I haven't brought a new one.

I bought an Easyio yogurt maker after Christmas and it is one of the best things I've ever bought for the kitchen. The easyio sachets are very easy to use but I don't buy them as they are expensive however I make it up using a bit of yogurt starter, uht milk and milk powder. There is a good thread on here about it. I make a litre for us and then a litre for the kids adding a bit of strawberry milkshake powder to theirs. This lasts us over a week. Apparently you see a lot of them at car boots but I just bought mine new in a sale. Can't recommend it highly enough.

Thanks these are on offer £10 in Wilcos at the moment. I was put off by the cost of the sachets though. There was a time when I would of happily brought the youghurt maker some sachets and extra containers but not now I am thinking more about it buying things now

Well I had planned some spends today but have been struck down with illness instead :( Good job I had already booked an extra day off work really but I'm frustrated by the waste of a day.

At least it has been a NSD in the end and I can put some spending off until next month. Food isn't something I want to think about just now so eating out of the stores is the order of the next few day methinks.
  • I'm still reading and being mindful of NOT BUYING IT. Can't say I always manage but have certainly cut down on frivolous spends. Need to work on the rest of the family as DD has discovered the joys of Internet shopping, There's been a trickle of parcels over the past few weeks. She seems to be very generous when it comes to buying gifts for her friends...
I would really like to be the food budget reduced further, it's work in progress.

Well I recieved a couple of vouchers from W&rose today, and I am going for a nosey tomorrow as its my last shop of the month so I can get £3.00 off lamb plus £6.00 off a £30.00 shop seems good to me I don't buy basics in there very often, but their special offers are usually quite good.ATM they have Aberdeen Angus Beef mince at half price, plus 6 lamburgers for £2.00 the lamburgers will make me three meals so if I get two pack at a total of £4.00 I can use my £3.00 off voucher and have six meals for a pound (I should be running the exchequer:):):)

Thanks, JackieO for the heads up re the lamburgers - I used my £3 off lamb voucher in W*rose this morning. Six of the burgers will go on holiday with me in May, to feed 3 of us, and the rest will be eaten two at a time when I fancy a taste of lamb.

I have some Morrisons RTC oxtail (600g for 35p) in my slow cooker just now. I've adapted a JO recipe. I have another pack of oxtail in ther freezer uncooked, also @ 35p.

I intend to be as frugal as possible during April. I'm about to ask the National Insurance people how many qualifying years I have. I don't get my state pension until late 2019, but it would be helpful to know if I've hit the 35 years yet. I'm regarding my remaining working years as a rehearsal for retirement, especially when it comes to living well but frugally. Jackie, you're an inspiration to me! And I'm sure to many other MSE-ers.

Hi Sister Anna, welcome. Please tell us all about yourself, not that I'm nosy or anything;).

BRACE YOURSELVES SHIPMATES...The wardrobe is finished. It will do for a while but I don't think it's a keeper.I still have scars from it! Will get my daughter to put some photos on when she is here next. Then you can all wonder what all the fuss was about.

We had a house viewing today.Liked the house but garden not right.:oAt least the house is getting a good regular clean!I think some people just like looking round houses for a hobby,I make the estate agent do them now,It's exhausting being the hostess with the mostess.

Mr V's car needs MOT and 2 new tyres.Spend unavoidable there.DD2 also needs school shoes, again!

Easter is all paid for food wise within the last few weeks shopping. We are having as we speak at this moment in time ALL the children plus Grandma to lunch on Saturday.Could of course all change in the blink of an eye.I do love a big get together.Do you decorate or do anything special at Easter?I have some chicks in a basket and a bowl of eggs and an Easter tree, used to do it for the kids but now they are grown It is obviously just for me all along.

Hail stones hammering on the window just now, what happened to this Easter heat wave that was promised?Gosh it's white over outside.

Hope alls well it's very quiet at the moment.laters Vx
