There are two reasons for this; the first is I completed one of my tasks, and the second is I'm not spending any money from my budget as I got an unexpected bonus from work! So far I've bought two tickets to Plymouth for Monday (fancied a trip somewhere, and have taken money out already so I don'taccidentally go over budget) and a Toast n Egg for 26 quid instead of 40. I'm hoping that having eggs in the morning before work will make me feel less tired, and also stop me snacking too much. I'm also planning on finally getting some new glasses, as an eye test is sorely overdue. I get free eye tests through work, and will go through Glasses Direct for the glasses. I have also spent 10.06 for food for work next week.
Oh new toy! I just googled it and want one :rotfl:0 -
Thanks so much for the replies re futurelearn. I've signed up for a course but it doesn't start til June so I'll let you know how I go on. Saw some really lovely fabric today so took the plunge and went in and bought a pattern and enough fabric to make a top. The pattern says that it will only take one hour (haha they don't know how long it is since I've sewn anything) but it does look quite simple and if successfull will not only be much cheaper than a similar top but will be unique! Don't hold your breath but again I'll let you know...0

Phew have spent much of today hand sewing the back on the patchwork quilt. Not happy with it,so I will undo it and have another go.I might as well do it right after all these years.
Have also filled and sanded the wardrobe door 3 times in the last couple of days, undercoated and one coat of pearl grey.Another coat in the morning and hopefully Mr V will be able to put it back on for me when he comes in from work tomorrow. My eldest daughter is home so there may be a pic soon.
I will be so pleased when these two projects are done.I might paint my pine kitchen.I dislike it as it is.It is an inherited one ,very well made but the pine has gone quite orange. The ceiling is pine too.The bathroom was but when it was removed last year it was such a big job to have it replastered so the new owners can have that treat. The estate agent says not to bother but I am quite embarrassed to show it to people.I wish I had the energy I had 20 years ago.
Went for a jaunt into nearby town with the girls this afternoon, resisted all but a wallis top from the chazzer.I know I buy a lot of clothes but I lurve clothes and I am giving to charity when I buy them!!!I think I will get my £3 moneys worth out of it.
If it's fine next weekend we will do a carbootsale to get rid of all the stuff we have discarded in the past year.
I do like to hear what you have all been up to.

Sorry- what is toast n Egg for £26?
Sorry! It's a toaster that boils/poaches eggs as well. Had one a few years ago and loved it but it had a small accident involving water so had to throw it away. This one is going back in the box when I'm not using it! It's usually £40 but due to discount and a voucher I managed to get it for £260 -
Love the look of those toast and egg/beans....can't justify cost plus told hubby I had to change to a 4 slice so can't admit I could have managed with old toast can I lol. Will concider when current one breaks thoughHave a Bsc Hons open degree from the Open University 2015 :j:D:eek::T0

Just had a look at them and thought what a great idea I would have liked one only as I gave up bread over a year ago I now no longer have a need for toast but I think its still a good idea all the same No doubt as they get more popular they will come down in price. My accounts all closed now for March and I am happily in the 'black' from my food purse, so the surplus is going into the holiday account tomorrow
:):).Just discovered I had a pile of points from a pub chain that I hadn't remembered about, so have printed off a voucher for £15.00 which I will use for my friend and I to have lunch with when she next comes down to visit The day is just getting better

vulpix your kitchen sounds like mine. I would love to paint it but we rent. Don't want the landlord to say yes I can paint it and then find I have to strip it all off when we move.
My ceiling is pine too but I think that just needs completely replacing and some insulation putting in before fitting a new ceiling.
Would love a day out myself but I think we are in for a wet week this week. It is not stopped so far this weekend.0 -
Raining and windy here so no going out in the garden today. Have baked, washed, ironed, done some sewing on a top (fabric from stash) and watercolours. I have also chucked out some work clothes, (really can't stand them). Need to look into yoghurt making I used to have a Lakeland one but it wasn't working so got chucked and I haven't brought a new one.0

Wet and windy day here too. Spent a few hours sewing tight legs onto sleevelesss tops to make long sleeves. followed the instructions on you tube and it was fairly simple. Whole new wardrobe of tops now
Could have just made a set of sleeves and worn them same set with different tops but it feels bulky and uncomfortable.
Also made a pair pjs so quite pleased with myself.
Made good use of the oven too with a couple of casseroles made, will portion up and pop in freeze.
Well done everyone of the good ship NBIMake £2 a day challenge - doing well so far.0 -
nursemaggie,if I was your landlord I would let you paint the kitchen,as long as it was a light colour. You can come and do mine for practice if you like.I am fine if I have someone to work with, just hate doing jobs alone.Mr V does not do diy, well he does but it's best not to mention his previous attempts.( managed to break his breitling watch whilst breaking up the old bath)His role is as my gofer and tea maker. When we took the pine ceiling down in the bathroom it was a right mess, wires and battons and holes. We had it plastered but the kitchen is much bigger and I don't want to spend the money if we will move in the future.
Havn't touched the quilt,just can't face it.Wardrobe is very,very close to completion.
Made a nice cheap meal with stuff from the freezer.Prawns and a tin of salmon in a white sauce with frozen puff pastry on.A nice change with some hm wedges and frozen peas.Think thats all the xmas goods finally used now.
It has rained here solidly for 2 days now.I can almost see my garden growing.I don't know if I said but I saw a wood pigeon perched on the bird bath, thats all, just perching.Ha.
Got my eye on something that finishes on eeebay tonight.A cast iron fire place.Just whats needed for the other house.Would be great to open up the fireplace again.I always need a project on the go.Always making a mess somewhere!
