  • I decided to cancel my magazine subscription today. I've got enough craft items to be getting on with and it means a saving of about £40 a year.

    Hiya all

You are right Edwink - hopefully we will be forgiven!!

Today I was definitely NIB. Had a new student today - did not feel comfortable!! Open plan house and clearly everything i said was being listened to!! Because when I started to talk about 'spider planning' Mum emerged to say that they had tired that!!! The student however, seemed interested!! Grrrr. Very stressed!! Fancied some really trashy comfort food - which for me is burgers!! So tempted by the smell of BKing on way home!!! However, remembered that I had a HM burger in the freezer and bread roll! So thats what I had for tea!!! Which saved me - £6 ish!! and was better for me!

Did shop today and got food which will probably last me for about 2 weeks for £13.65. I will only need to go and buy salad next week and maybe tomatoes (oh had best explain that I live alone! Otherwise that would sound as if Im superwoman - which Im not!!:)
    Hoping for an NSD tomorrow!
Aim for Sept 17: 20/30 days to be NSDs  NSDs July 23/31 (aim 22) :j
NSDs 2015:185/330 (allowing for hols etc)
LBM: started Jan 2012 - still learning!

hummm Edwink - thats Captain Slowdown's decision but she's very kind so perhaps we could share a lifebuoy till our shipmates pull us back on board! :-)

Hmm! Been pacing the decks, tapping my forehead thoughtfully, pausing to stare out to sea while I wonder what to do?

Quick nod of head, decision made.

Big, big hugs to everyone. That's my decision. Extra comfy cushions in hammocks, doubled rum rations and gently rocking ship to aid relaxation. How could anyone be thrown overboard on this ship? You are all so smashing for climbing on board in the first place, I'm hardly going to chastise anyone for minor misdemeanours now, am I? Life buoys always readily available for those in need.

In fact I helped myself to one at the weekend. Had a very, very sad day Saturday at the funeral of my friend's daughter. Aged 28 the week before died. So, so sad. Then followed up by an amazingly happy evening spent with my brother and sister and their OH and my nieces, dancing round the sitting room to 70s music, drinking Belgian beer and having a really good laugh.

I did spend though. A £40 donation to cancer research at the funeral (money well spent), presents for bro and sis and Mother's Day x 2. £30 on supplements from H and B. And extras here and there. But hey, there's always that lifebuoy isn't there?

    Kindest regards
    Slowdown:)

    Well done to all shipmates.

I have to admit I treated myself recently, I have always loved some china called Summer Chintz, but could never aford it when it came out years ago as it was expensive, even now it is discontinued it holds it prices.

I saw a set on Eb*y at a resonable price (large gulp) so bought it, and am using it every day, not for best and really enjoying it.

Only other purchases so far this year are two new tyres, so don't feel too guilty.

    Happy sailing shipmates.

:) Had a NSD yesterday but only by an act of willpower. I really really wanted fish and chips but I had food in the fridge which needed to be eaten and so I stayed in and cooked that and it came out really well, so pleased I avoided wasting money I had already spent and didn't spend any more.

Today is archery, so that'll be a tenner, but it's my only hobby which requires money so I regard that as my little treat. Other than that, it's work, return library books, eat and sleep. It's all good.

Oh, and it'll bother me if I don't find out; what is 'spider spending', please? Mine walk in for free on their own 8 legs.......:rotfl:

  • Spider spending does sound intriguing!
We'll have woken up and have a poorly belly so that will stop me hoping out and spending pennies. Was supposed to be going line dancing with my mum but I don't think that will be a good idea!!
Still means I will get out of cooking today, the hubs will have to make Tate burgers for him and the boys, I'll be on dry toast, yay!!
Any other suggestions for an upset stomach, doesn't happen to me very often, just drinking lots at the mo !!!

    Slowdown:)

    Thank you captain Slowdown.

Being on board really does make me think twice about what I spend our hard earned money on. I deleted an online basket spend yesterday, after thinking twice about what I was doing.
I don't mind spending money as long as it's planned & needed. Not just unnecessary wasteful spending.
We all need treat occasionally without feeling guilty. So bring on the comfy cushions & extra rum!
We WILL stick to a budget for all of 2015 without loosing momentum. :j

Good Morning chums, and what a beautiful morning it is,the sun is up and I can clearly see the River Medway through the trees from my study window (a.k.a.my small box room which I bagged as mine when I moved here nearly 20 years ago :):):))I always say I have 2.5 bedrooms as the smallest one is just about big enough to hold my computer and desk, bookcase, a couple of file cabinets and in the corner my stash of crafting stuff :):).On the outside of the door my late OH put up a plaque which says Jackie's Room. Not that anyone could mistake it for anything else as I live in a very small cottage :)
but a good indication of nice weather is being able to see the Medway glinting through the trees instead of covered in mist and murk :)
Tonight is quiz night at the pub so I don't have to make dinner :)but this morning I am baking some cakes for my DGS as I was told yesterday afternoon by a plaintive little voice "Granny the cake tin is empty " so best I remedy that today :):)
NSD again so I don't have to go out until around 3 this afternoon

  • Morning all. Lovely sunny day so towels already washed and out. I like to dry things for free!:rotfl:
I live on the top of the river looking south over the sea so today is definitely one for gazing at beautiful land, and sea, scape.
Still have work to do though. Making soup is next on the list so had better get going.
    Have a nice day everyone.

  • Got up early so I could hang washing out. Love hanging washing out which is a bit sad. Took my morning brew out whilst I hung it all out. Saves on the dryer.

Have brought dinner into work and a book so Im not tempted to go out to the shops at dinner time.
I have every possession I want. I have a lot of friends who have a lot more possessions. But in some cases I feel the possessions possess them, rather than the other way round
