  • hi shipmates

I'm still reading here daily another James Martin fan he has also shown how important for is to getting well in the hospital programme.

I've been watching sewing bee and I've really enjoyed this series I've been sewing myself since the beginning of 2014 which I find really relaxing

Since boarding this ship I've noticed I'm spending more on experiences or things with meaning which is a good thing

now I really need to get back to the decluttering

    have good week everyone
    Emma :hello:

What are we doing down here on page 2?

Lynne don't be harsh on yourself, they were exceptional circumstances.I got stuck at Leamington spa station for 5 hours last year when lightening hit a tree and it fell on the line.It was so busy,no where to sit, freezing,I could have cried.Strange how sugar is the go to food when we need comfort.

All visitors gone,a lovely day was had.Lots of left overs to keep us going for a day or two.

I WILL complete the last wardrobe door this week.Make me do it,please!

    Vx

Had a bit of a spendy day here as I bought myself 5 pairs of jeans on e*ay!! Birthday money from Mummy-in-Law. I have to confess that I do have a huge liking for jeans and the louder the better!! I bought 3 pairs from the same seller which I am so looking forward to getting. And my hubby has bought me a white brand new pair of N*xt jeans from e*bay for £5, bargain!! So that's 6 pairs. Oh no!!!!!!! am I going to get told off now?????? In my defence as Dorcus (in Larkrise to Candleford) would say "It is my one weakness". Honest it is my only one!!!!

Been keeping the weekly food budget to £50 or under every week and that includes treats for the hens and ducks (i.e.. cucumber, lettuce, porridge and rice krispies) and wine for hubby. So we are both really pleased with that.

Being really frugal with our electric use too!!

Got organic compost from Al*I this year so saved quiet a bit on that!!

So all in all we feel we have ben doing really well and enjoying the challenge.

Please don't chuck me overboard because of the jeans!! Pretty Pleeeeeeeeeease!!!!!!!

I had a no spend weekend as I was feeling a bit ill for most of it.:p I'm feeling better now and hoping for a cheap week and a half until pay day.:)

I have some grocery shopping being delivered today but I'm feeling very virtuous as I'm up putting all the curtains in for a wash. I feel so much more energetic when it's lighter in the mornings.:A

Indeed spring cleaning is so much better with the lighter days coming (plus it shows up are the bits you've missed during the winter :):):))

I watched the James Martin programme about hospital food and was so impressed with his ideas. So simple, yet at times he had a hard job convincing the 'suits' that folk needed and wanted nice nutritional stuff when in hospital.Last time I was in I actually lost weight as the food was so dreadful. Not the nursing staff's fault, and there was so much waste as people would look at what was dished up and decide to do without. MY DD was bringing me a sandwich and a flask of coffee in. I can't eat cold half cooked toast or drink cold tea at 7.a.m. for breakfast.and as for lunch and dinner well it was at times indescribable. One lady on my ward actually prodded the congealing lump on her plate and asked one of the nurses what it was and the nurse hadn't got a clue either. !!!

I do hope his ideas get rolled out across all hospitals as they all looked so nice and often were cheaper to produce than the 'bought in stuff' that the hospitals dished up.

Well today is another NSD for me as I only have two things on my list to buy and nothing I can't use something else instead.I can live without a cucumber for another couple of days I'm sure.

I have dug out a veggie curry for dinner tonight from the freezer which I will have with some rice, and for pudding I have fresh fruit.Book Club this morning, so a good natter and a free cuppa thrown in
Have a good and frugal day chums

  • DH replaced all the downstairs window seals and the front door one at the weekend, when he removed the outer one from the living room window it all crunched and cracked and fell apart.....oops, maybe this should have been done earlier! :o

A NSD for me yesterday and I would have managed one on Saturday too but youngest was going out to a party and wanted to take some drinks with her so we popped into our corner shop (Tesc0's) and I bought 4 peppercorn burgers reduced to 50p a pack instead of £2 a pack  (would never have bought them for full price). Good job I did buy them though as both DD's boyfriends were here yesterday so a hearty lunch of peppercorn burgers, hash browns, fried eggs and beans was supplied to all men folk and eldest DD.......I apparently come with a health warning 'this is my Mum and she is a feeder'! :rotfl:

I need to buy some apples today and maybe a couple of bananas but nothing else is needed. Tonight's dinner will be sweet and sour pork as I have some left over from yesterday's roast.

    Morning all

still plodding away with you all.

turned the heating off on Saturday, for some reason we had a 4 hour power cut so decided it may as well stay offski.

My DH is a big chappie (ex rugby player) and his side of the sofa is sagging and he informed me we needed a new sofa. Well have a look at how much a replacement one will be says I and at £2.5k he whistled ouch. Replacement springs, holder and nails about £75 in total just need to find the tool somewhere so we can do it. There is nothing wrong with the frame, leather or cushions so I am NBI!!

I have spent today - hope I don`t have to walk the plank! I spent £21 on fabric and cotton. I am planning on making some gifts so it will save money eventually. Honest!
Plus it will keep me busy and away from the shops for the next few days.
Cupboards and freezer are full so will only be milk I need to buy till weekend.
    Well done everyone on NBI
Make £2 a day challenge - doing well so far.
