My husband has just told me that chocolate scrapped of off factory machines and off the factory floors are bagged up and sent to a processing plant to be melted down and have milk powder added. This is all filtered to remove as much of the dust and dirt that is collected with it from the factory floors. It is then left to stand for 3 days in the open air as indoors would cause the liquid to go rancid. Open air drying is considered the preferred way to let it settle to remove unwanted bubbles and airlocks.
The worst bit is that if it does get an odd bird dropping in it, it can never be removed as this is impossible because bird faeces are heavy they just sink straight to the bottom of the settling tank. Once back inside it is all warmed up and them pumped in to four different chambers on the main factory floor. Where it is them pumped in to moulds made from pig skin to be sent through a chiller to help it set quickly. Then it is cleaned with a detergent spray which is stronger than bleach, just a fine misting for 24 hours. Then a strong chocolate aroma is sprayed all over the moulds minutes before the chocolate is removed for the wrapping process. Job done!!!:rotfl:
NEEDLESS TO SAY!! Since my husband found that out we have never consumed any chocolate since!!!

Cheese mites? Extra protein, my dear. It's the chocolate story which has got me worried............... say it isn't so?Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

When we were in Ramsgate on Thursday we went into a sweet shop and the boys chose their sweets.DD said 'I fancy some butterscotch Mum'.They had some in a jar and the girl said why not try it We were looking for the OS Callard & Bowsers in the white packets normally wrapped individually in silver paper .Apparently they are no longer sold, the b'scotch she did try she didn't like as she said it was like a toffee flavoured soft jelly so we never bought any.If anyone know where there maybe a stock of C & B butterscotch I would love to get hold of it .Those Werther thingys are just not the same at all.
Well I did a small shop yesterday and along with the meat I bought on Thursday (the pork chops were delish from the butcher in Ramsgate, Taylors I think it was called ) I have only spent so far this month £36.45 and have £23.55 left in my food purse and only 7 more days to go:):):) very happy with this months budgets and fingers crossed a good chunk of it will go into the holiday fund
No big spends at all at the moment and staying away from shops unless really urgently wanted food stuff means I am hanging on to my pennies like grim death:):)

Hi chums ,just had a friend say did I want to Aldee vouchers this Thursday as she usually gives them to me.Now do I say yes and accept them or No thank you and make do with the stocks I already have in the cupboards. My new month starts next sunday but at the moment I don't need to buy anything.I know I save a fiver on a £40 shop but will I be spending out just to save a fiver or do I not bother this month .Dilemma really as I don't like to miss a bargain but on the other hand I feel I would be buying just for the sake of it IYSWIM.What do you think.I have a good chunk of February's food budget cash left in my food purse and have nothing to buy for the next week at least. Then I draw my March budget out for the food purse. any suggestions will be gratefully received .:):):)0

Hi Jackie0, these vouchers are a real dilemma for small households, aren't they? I often don't spend £40 in a month, and certainly not all in one store, so they are of limited use to me. I occasionally finesse a £3 off £20 shop with Tosspots but have to shop carefully for that.
I'd say consider your stock-cupboards and are there any non-food items in Aldee atm which were on your to-buy list, anyway? You could look at bulk-buying TP or other long-lasting consumables.
I really wish retailers would give a bit more thought to their offers, they are very prejudiced towards the large family shopper. I get annoyed at the cashiers at Tosspots extolling the wonders of discounts off fuel; they seem taken aback that not everyone has a car.:p
Today, we have a frosty start and I am easing into the day - and easing out my aching muscles - before going back to my allotment. I may swing by the supermarket to see if they have any of those baked beans left, I got as many as I could carry yesterday (16 cans) but could do with another 8. My target is to never pay more than the offer price for them.
Other than that, and maybe a wee bar of chocolate, I'm not planning any spends at all, will just be working on my plot and planting some garlic cloves, which are already trying to sprout. They were part of a bargainous 2 bagfuls of fruit and veg for £1 and I've eaten some, and held back another 4 to cook with, but the rest are going into the ground. Haven't grown garlic before, so it'll be interesting and the experiment will cost me nothing but 5 mins of my time to plant them.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.
