    :) Morning all.

vulpix, they're calling those ghastly shaggy beards 'hipster beards' and they're very fashionable right now, so hopefully will shortly become unfashionable and get shaved off. I know I'm middle-aged but, for the life of me, I can't see the appeal to a young woman of a young man with facial foliage like a gentleman of the road.:rotfl:

With jumpers, and fleeces, I have them folded in the same way as kondo'd long-sleeved teeshirts, they just make bulkier bundles. Obviously, they need a slightly deeper drawer, but it's entirely do-able.

:o I did go into a chazzer after all, yesterday. Spent £3; a calendar for 50p, a in-cupboard rack for £1 and a lovely woven basket for £1.50. All are arguable un-necesary but I am enjoying using them and the calendar will exit as a recyclable at the end of the year.

These sound good purchases GreyQueen and entirely justified. Tried to do a smiley but using I pad and can't work it out.
Am doing well with this. Bought shoes last week but they were needed and I am pleased with buying them. They had their first application of dubbin yesterday and that has soaked in so will get the next lot on today. They are Clllarks and have spongy insoles. Ha ha comfort means a lot!
Having 2 nd cup of tea and have had my porridge and also walked round park with my dog. Lovely sunny crisp morning here with frost on the grass. Really lovely.
Have read my Marie Kondo book and am off to do my clothes. I know that's another thread but some will know what I'm talking about! I expect to go to the charity shop later or maybe tomorrow with a bag or two. I've taken 7 or 8 bags there over the last few weeks as I have been having a clear out of things. I find it really satisfying and freeing to do this. I was on the Simplifying thread years ago and I think that's what sparked it all off. I will be interested to see if I part with more things now that I am looking at each item in terms of do I love wearing this etc rather than looking at 'stuff' I don't like or have stopped wearing.

    Have a good day all.
  • Morning everyone
I have been pretty good this week with the exception of some baby gifts for a baby shower this week. When did we get so American! baby showers indeed lol.
I am not good enough at crafting to make something nice enough so need to remedy that. Been watching utube to learn how to do ribbon embrodery, which looks lovely. Thinking Christmas pressies cosy fleece blankets with a bit of ribbon embrodery on.
Freezer is still bulging so don`t need to buy much only fresh stuff.
Enjoying sailing on the NBI ship.
Make £2 a day challenge - doing well so far.

Feeling quite please with myself as I have had a week off work and the spend has been relatively minimal. I have spent on food though but do have the equivalent of two human hoovers living here. Thursday was a spending day as ad dental check-up after that I had planned to fill up the car with a load of CS stuff and deliver that then get my hair cut, but that didn't happen as the dentist was running very late. the CS stuff will just have to wait until I can drop it off after work.

Yesterday we went to the Imperial war museum after that I visited an Art shop I went in looked around and came out without buying anything. There was loads of things I wanted in there, nice colourful things and new things to try, but I didn't buy anything I did think about it but then thought no you have enough paint and pencils ect so I came out empty handed.
Today I picked up new glasses I was going to treat myself to coffee and cake afterwards but came straight home for coffee I have no cake left so must get baking.

Hmmm my food spending this month has been high, but I've restocked the freezer and cupboards after running it all down, stockpiled cat food as been on offer and other bits and bobs.

My new month starts on Wednesday when I get paid so think I'll try and limit myself to £5 a week in March to buy salad and fruit stuff, already have veg in freezer.

Only other things I plan on buying is a Mother's Day card and gift for £20 max and my haircut which is £10

Another good reason today for avoiding the meat section at supermarkets. Our village butcher gave us a free carrier bag full of chicken carcasses which when cooked down will provide delicious stock for soups and risottos.

I wonder what happens to all the carcasses of chickens that provide chicken portions in supermarkets? Presumably all the chickens are prepared in a central processing plant and the carcasses simply go to waste? I do occasionally see cartons of supermarket stock in Tetrapacks bur somehow never fancied it, not knowing its provenance. Has anybody on here ever used them?

:) Might they go for pet food, Primrose? They do chicken cat food and I somehow doubt it's the breast meat.

Spent 4 hours on the allotment today and nipped into a supermarket on the way home to find baked beans on offer, so got 16 cans and toted them home in my rucksack. All now in the stores. I was running a bit low on BB but was waiting for the offer cycle - I get the Br@nston ones when they come down to £1.25 a four-pack.

Have already derived far more than 50p-worth of pleasure from my scenic calendar, and have 10 more pictures left to go, yippee. Wouldn't have paid £7.99 for it, which was the original price - it still had its sticker on it.

I have tentatively-embarked on no-clothes-spending in 2015 (unless its absolutely fabulous, in the chazzer and going for pennies). Not feeling at all deprived thus far, the 2014 clothes spend averaged out at £6.17 a month, so am hardly the last of the big spenders anyway. But isn't it easier to buy more than you need and can use and then struggle with the piles of it?

  • So I went to town with my friend today and apart from lunch and later a cake and hot chocolate, I didn't buy anything :)

This is HUGE progress for me! I had it in mind to buy myself new shampoo and conditioner from Boots because they were doing 750 extra points with 2 premium haircare purchases...normally I can't resist this kind of thing, but in reality I have enough shampoo and conditioner to last a good 6 weeks, and there will always be another special offer. And I really don't need the points, I currently have £108 on my advantage card!!

I spent a total of £20.20 on bus fare, lunch and then cake, had a lovely day catching up with a good friend, so money well spent and nothing else to clutter up the house :)

Have spent a few productive hours this afternoon clearing out the kitchen cupboards, managed to fill a large plastic box with items for charity shop...i live on my own, very rarely have guests so why do I have 9 tumblers, 14 mugs and the odd shot glass or 5

Also thrown out a large array of empty plastic tubs...margarine tubs, cream cheese, sandwich fillers, pease pudding tubs...clearly thought at some point that I would be storing things in them other than dead spiders and dust :rotfl:

:) B-b-b-but where will the spiders go to die, now? You're such a callous lady, not to think of their final resting place..........:p;)

I also decluttered two of those small batteries, the ones like pills, into the recycling tub at the supermarket. I'd put them in my housekeeping purse a few days ago waiting for just such an opportunity, so was pleased to have remembered them.
