    :) Morning all.

So lovely to read all your posts and now I have added Ramsgate to my must-visit-someday list.

Last night I ran out of milk and thought I would drink my tea black and buy more today, but recalled that I had 2 lots of UHT in the cupboard. I was annoyed to find that the were OOD since last October, as I had them behind ones due to expire April this year, so expected them to be the same or have a longer date on. Needless to say, am using the first one and will then use the second and it's perfectly fine.

Plans for today involve some spending - seed potatoes for my allotment - and some non-spending which will be making bread and soup from stuff already on the premises. Have a collection of fairly random veg in the fridge and would like to make a clean sweep through that. I may also defrost the mini-freezer and use the opportunity to list contents and re-pack it more efficiently.

Food spends this month are presently sub-£15 although I will add 2 more UHTs into the cupboard as I like to have a few by me, in case I can't get out. Can drink my tea black but much prefer it with milk.

Smiling and shaking my head at the silliness of the lady with the books. When encountering such behaviour, Mum's phrase would always be some people deserve to be poor. I have to say that in 40-odd years of reading library books, I can't think of a single disease I've contracted. But the germiest things you'll encounter are door-handles, so perhaps she needs to re-direct her worries in that direction? :rotfl:

  • Hi everyone, still loving reading this thread every day and seeing everyone's progress and ideas!

Just had a few thoughts, Slowdown, you might already know, but some opticians will buy back your contact lenses/solutions if they are unopened - might neutralise some of the glasses cost if you are giving them up.

Vulpix and others wanting to do the hanger challenge in drawers - if you Kondo your clothes, you could start off with them stood on end going front to back, and turn the ones you've worn so that they run from left to right (or vice versa). I haven't read into Kondoing in much detail but I have stood all my clothes on end and this would work for me as long as there was a little bit of spare room in the drawer to start with to turn the clothes in the other direction.
    NST September: SFD 17/20, food £62.87/£60, travel £61.55/£40, Outings £39.80/£100, Allotment £7.17/£30 Other: £42.32, Meditation ?/30.

:) Back from the shops with the 2 UHT milk and the seed spuds and NOTHING ELSE. I did think about having a poke in a few chazzers but just didn't feel like it. Quick, pass the thernometer, I must be going down with something..........:p

Re the drawer/ hanger thingy, how about this for the drawers; place garments once used in the drawer so they go front to back rather than side to side across the drawer, which is how I have mine. Or reverse whichever way you have them now, as they are used and returned? Eventually, the changes will reveal the ones you're actually using.

I'm not doing the hanger thing for one reason; what's hung up are the summer things, and they're not in use yet. Once we're into the warmer weather, I will give hanger-reversal a go and by autumn I should have a good idea of the keepers and the ones to be discarded.

For the person who doesn't like to read books from the chazzer or library she could do what I have started to do. As well as a library number you get a pin number a:Dnd go online to your library catalogue. On that site is a list of the non fiction and also fiction that the library has bought in the coming months so you can reserve them in advance and they let you know when they are ready to collect. The fee for a reserve here is 70p and for that I am the first to read a new just published £19.99 hardback. :T

  • I'm also having a NSD, I'm always tempted with a takeaway on a Friday after work but not tonight, dinner is in the oven :)

I'm meeting a friend for lunch tomorrow, last minute plan made earlier today, so that will involve bus fare to town and buying lunch. I will try not to spend any other money, I really don't need anything, but might treat myself to some nice food bits from M&S. I intend to make tomato and red pepper soup this weekend, I have never managed to make good homemade tomato soup, so I will try a few recipes until I perfect it!

Happy Friday everyone, I'm sooo glad it's the weekend xx
    All you need is less
  • Well mostly good on the shopping trip. No major confessions. DH bought a couple of his "needs". I couldn't see anything I liked off my "needs" list and resisted buying any "Wants". DS bought quite a lot but was all needed and as he is now at college we give him a small monthly allowance and he paid for it all himself. He's been saving it up bless him. I wonder where he gets that from!!
Slight disappointment was the lunch booked at Zizzi, with tesco vouchers. An hour before our table was booked we had a call to say they could not open the restaurant as they had a problem with their gas and had engineers in! (Felt really sorry for the girl on the phone, she was really apologetic. I bet some people were giving her grief) SO, vouchers in date till 17/8 so plenty of time to use them and they are not wasted. Plan B, was weatherspoons. So it was more expensive than expected, but not major.
What was lovely was the time spent with my boys, and we had a few laughs together.

Vulpix that was a lot of Tesco vouchers saved!
We WILL stick to a budget for all of 2015 without loosing momentum. :j

Ah,think it was £100 in vouchers for £300 of tiles and the shop had a sale on at the time.

I will investigate this Kondo thing further for drawers with clothes.I can see it working with tee shirts but what about thick jumpers? What do you do with them?

The Royal visit went very well. She is lovely and endeared herself by admiring my Denby! They have gone off to her parents now.Doubt my sons shaggy beard will impress. It didn't impress me!

Off to MIL's tomorrow.I said I would tidy her garden before everything takes off.She lives in the midlands and is about a month ahead of us with the garden.I have purchased onion sets and am waiting to plant as instructed.;)
