Hello everyone,
Sorry I am a bit behind on the thread, busy with children on half term and trying to declutter amongst other things. I wanted to reply to a few people but have forgotten a lot of what I wanted to say already so will just try and keep up from now.
I did remember Turtle though - well done, feel very proud of yourself for being brave and sticking to what YOU want to do. The coffee shop woman has at least acknowledged what she did and apologised and we all make mistakes so hopefully she has learnt a valuable lesson.
Congrats Deleted_User on the extra job!
Also was sorry to hear about those of you with painful eye conditions.
IDIFM - can you block your ex's number or if not get hold of a new SIM so your number changes, they are really cheap or free. People generally behave in a nasty way because they are unhappy/angry/other negative emotion - you just happen to be the way they are directing those feelings. Carry on DOING IT FOR YOU.
I have been doing really well with not buying it of late (polishes halo) with one slip - a fish and chip supper a couple of days ago but in my defence I was really really tired and am budgeting treats in. Have spent nothing else with the children off , not even on a food shop but we are going out today to get my boys' haircuts (stretched the time between the last one) and have a snack in the caf!. Buying milk, bread and toothpaste and that's it. Enough in for meals still and hanging on until pay day next week.
Off to rally the troops in a mo0 -

I had an odd epiphany today.
I walked into town after a night shift, wandered into Boots, wandered around Boots and realised I didn't need anything and couldn't bring myself to "treat" myself.
I means it's Boots. How could I not treat myself with all those new facial oils and three for two offers??!
I walked through town ticking off the shops (W H Smith, M&S etc) not buying anything.
I did pick up a free Metro on the bus home though.
Smug. Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway... :huh:0 -
I did buy two hand towels but it was from Mr A's in the groceries and I did get a free delivery code.;)
Oh, I did buy a bunch of daffs too which was non essential but they do look cheerful in a vase.:D
I think I am going to buy some new white curtains and then buy some new black and white bedding to match. I was thinking of dying the existing ones but it seems like too much trouble as they are king sized and it will takes ages with the different loads of washing you have to run. I will just keep the old ones as spare.
I've moved the bed around last night so it's under the window and the room looks bigger that way so I think it will look nice.
I might buy a rug for downstairs too as the room is starting to look a bit empty with my obsessive decluttering () and we might be moving so I thought it would look more homey. I will just keep an eye out for one in the next few months.
I'm not buying any of it for a while as we have the dog's injections to pay for in the next couple of weeks.
I hope everyone is well, it feels a bit nippy out there today.
I just realised this is more about what I will be buying rather than not buying.:rotfl::oHOUSE MOVE FUND £16,000/ £19,000

Spent £11.86 yesterday on a floral die, purely as I'm thinking in the long run it'll save me money as I won't have to buy artificial flowers to decorate my crafts.
I've also made my first christmas present today...am I getting ahead of myself?0 -
Edwink, I really enjoyed reading about your rescue hens :-)Above all, I have been a sentient being, a thinking animal, on this beautiful planet, and that in itself has been an enormous privilege and adventure.Oliver Sachs 20150

Heard the most ridiculous conversation at work today, male colleague told his female friend that his mum had bought him 2 books at the charity shop at the weekend....she replied that she would never ever read a book from the charity shop as you don't know how many people have touched it before you
had to walk away at that point but I'm pretty sure the books in a bookshop have been touched by numerous people before she pays full price for the privilege of reading it :rotfl:0 -
Hi gals :hello:
Have had a spendy day today! Treated myself to a yankee candle copy
Hi Candygirl
Thank you for the response about my little hens. I really do love them. And to think I was terrified of birds before getting them!! Seriously I was!!!!! If a bird flew in to the house I would sit outside too terrified to go back in. My brother keeps hens too and I went into his chicken coop several years before I got my hens!! My dear mum was terrified too so my sister in law went in first with my dear mum clinging on to her clutching chunks of her jumper as she was so scared. And I was clutching at my dear mums jumper trying to hold on tight to her. My sister in law realised how terrified we both were so got us out sharpish!!!:o
However seeing how my brother enjoyed his life with his hens I decided that one day I would like to have a go at having some myself. The only way I could get rid of my fear was to actually go in to a stable with about 80 to 100 hens in or more and a few Cockerels to choose the ones I wanted to take home with me. I said to my husband "I am going in there with them", which is what I did. I have never been so scared in my whole life. I was shaking so much and when I was pointing at one that I liked the look of it was so obvious as my hand was shaking so much, my heart was pounding!! I had all these bald hens running around my feet!! To be honest I am surprised I did not pass out!!!! I could not pick them up al all!! The thought of touching one terrified me!!
Once we got them home I noticed that one of them was not eating and as she was skinny to begin with this worried me. Reading through my "new" hen keeping book it suggested that she had a compacted crop!! OMG I thought I have to pick her up and get some olive oil into her and massage her crop to help dislodge the compacted food!! Scared or what??? I just looked at her and thought I have got to pick her up and help her!! So I got a dish with some pellets in and soaked them in olive oil. I picked her up and sat her on my lap. Guess what??? She sat down probably because my lap was warm for her. Anyway, she ate some of the food, only a little, but at least some whilst I gently massaged her crop. It was as solid as a golf ball, poor little thing. I did this 3 times a day even in the pouring rain and in the end I used to let them all out in the morning and go and sit on a log and she would come running towards me and jump straight on to my lap. I called her "Scarf" because she did not have any feathers at all around her neck and down her chest so she looked as if she needed a scarf!!! Every day I massaged her crop and slowly it started to feel softer. One day she come running out for her food, jumped on my lap and when I felt her crop it was finally soft and empty of all the compacted food that was in there. I actually was dripping tears on her as she was feeding. I just could not help myself!!! It took me just under 3 weeks to finally get her crop fully emptied so she could feed properly with a good amount of food so she could get some weight on her!!! Her weight did slowly come back and she was such a happy hen. I no longer have her but she had such a happy time with us!! So it was all thanks to scarf that I finally lost my absolute fear of birds!!! Bless her heart!!!!
Sorry for the ramble but my hens mean the world to me!!:j
Candygirl, the reason I quoted your post was that I wanted to ask you where you got your Yankee candle copies from!! Sorry to ask about this right at the end of my post but Scarf took over!! Oh!!! I do love them!!!!!!
